2009 was undoubtedly a brilliant year for albums, with each and every taste catered for, but it's Alix Perez's debut album "1984" that stood head and shoulders above the rest for me.

The album's mix of downtempo beats, dubstep, hip hop and drum n bass proved Perez a force to be reckoned with and guest vocalists such as Foreign Beggars, Peven Everett and Ursula Rucker added light to contrast the darkness of the beats and atmosphere.
