In the small hours of a Monday morning from 2-3am you can hear a selection of my favourite new tunes compiled into an hour-long mixtape of nonstop music. All the audio is sourced from the 主播大秀 Introducing Uploader - some of it recommended by 主播大秀 colleagues across the Introducing network, and some discovered via Twitter and my own Fresh On The Net blog.

From 3am each Monday the latest mixtape is then available free via the 6 Music Downloads Page - where you'll also find archived episodes from the previous 4 weeks. All the tracklists and start times for each track are published here - together with a link to each artist's website.听 Below are are the listings for Monday, May 21st.

SOCCER 96 - Call To Arms - 0:14

Somebody once described SOCCER 96 as "Fresh polyrhythmic electro with crisp live virtuoso drums" - oh no, hold on, that was me. The Brighton two-piece describe themselves as "a stripped-down, amped-up analogue synth vs live drum assault, formed in 2009 over a mutual love of SNES, meditation and warehouse raves." Their self-titled debut album was released on Demons Are Real label in March and comes highly recommended. By me.

DREAMA - Opus Opiates - 4:14

We were first introduced to the music of Dreama on Fresh On The Net by Girl Music Guru Ruth Barnes. An eighties baby and a nineties child, the Hammersmith-based rapper and emcee wrote her first song at age 12, just for fun. At 16 she embraced MySpace and when her academic studied were copleted her d茅but release was a free mixtape titled A Dreama鈥檚 Reality, which has since given its name to her busy and entertaining blog. We've played her repeatedly, Ruth's played her repeatedly, and if you download this week's mixtape you can play her repeatedly too.

THE ADVOCATES - Half a day - 6:41

Formed less than a year ago in Northwich - home of The Charlatans - The Advocates are an indie/grunge four piece who recently released their debut EP 鈥淪hut Your Eyes and See鈥 which they recorded at 80Hertz studios. Not much more info online except that they consist of Jack Evans on Lead Guitar, Jake Barnabas on Drums, Ste Millar slapping the Bass and Sam O'Brien on vocals and Rhythm Guitar.

SID SINGS - Make Me Howl - 9:34

Sid Sings are, they tell us, "a deliciously dark and dirty Blunk-explosion for the True Blood generation. Forget gothic romance, " they urge... "these rock 'n' rollers are true sex Glampires! The band is headed-up by sassy frontwoman, Sid and powered by Alex Michie's turbo-charged guitar-playing and Marco Quarantotto's down and dirty drumming. A combination which has lead critics to describe them as "Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs backed by the early ZZ Top" and "Patti Smith fronting The White Stripes"."

DAN LENO - Bones - 12:16

DAN LENO are purveyors of "unique 5-piece pop from South London" who list their Band Interests as: "Staying Alive" and their label as . Originally known as MUTLEY - and later as DAN LENO & THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEMS - they consist of Che Hawkes, Nicholas Oebell, Sophie Evans, Peter Harris and frontman Raphael Verrion. None of whom, you'll notice, are called Dan... or indeed Leno. You'll find more music - but alas no further factual information about the group - via their Soundcloud page.

SILENT CITIES - All These Winds - 15:39

For my money, the label "singer-songwriter" all too often provides shelter for musical dullards churning out unoriginal retreads of a genre that reached its peak maybe 40 years ago. And then along comes a Jamie T, a Ray LaMontaigne, a Willie Mason - or a Silent Cities - and they compltely restore your faith in the power of the lone guitar-toting troubadour. This haunting performance completely blew me away when we first heard it at Fresh On The Net. It was uploaded to 主播大秀 Introducing by the artist Simon Maddison - born in County Durham, currently studying in Liverpool and destined for great things, should he choose to pursue them once his studies are at an end. It's not a question of chords, lyrics, melody or recording quality it's simply that sometimes you can tell within seconds that you're listening to The Real Deal. And - take it from me - this artist, my friends, is The Real Deal.

FEVER FEVER - The Chair - 18:15

Last Summer FEVER FEVER ("two girls and one boy making art-punk fight-pop from Norwich") played South By Southwest and the 主播大秀 Introducing stage at Glastonbury. Since then their continued ascent has been unstoppable, with triumphs at Camden Crawl and The Great Escape. "Our main priority" they've always claimed "is having fun" which perhaps explains why this latest single has been released on download and strictly limited-edition, erm, pink cassette. It also explains why said cassettes sold out in a heartbeat on advance orders, a full week before the song was even released. They play Washing Machine at The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds Rock City on Saturday June 2nd.

HUWIE PRICE - Fright Night - 22:48

With Welsh origins but bred in Leicester, songwriter HUWIE PRICE has been gigging solo for several years, releasing his debut EP 'Sea Air' in 2010 and following it up with 'Folds' last summer. Currently hard at work on his third EP, his Twitter reveals this entire weekend has been set aside for bass parts and vocal harmonies on Track Two - with the hashtag #everysparemomentcounts. As a first taste of what's in store on the new release, Fright Night shows HUWIE taking his game up to a whole new level. Its poised, tense atmosphere and spooky weeping guitar lines were a big hit with readers at FOTN, and deservedly so.

BATTLESHIPS - Turbulence - 25:58

Confident, widescreen rock with an indie edge from Merseyside - no wonder BATTLESHIPS have been supported by Dave Monks' local 主播大秀 Introducing show, given a slot at the Radio One Big Weekend, and picked by Q Magazine as one of their "Top Songs To Download in 2012" alongside the likes of Enter Shikari and Pulled Apart By Horses. Their debut single As Tall As Trees came out last August and Turbulence is the title track of a brand new EP released earlier this month - you can hear and buy it on Bandcamp via their Facebook Page.

MOYA - Lost and Found - 29:45

This is a forthcoming single from 21-year old Brighton-based singer Moya due out on June 4th, and it's also the title track of her debut album which follows three weeks later on Four To One Records. Moya released her debut EP late last year, from which the lead track Telling Tales enjoyed regional radio support in the UK. It was followed in January by a cover of Primal Scream's I鈥檓 Losing More Than I鈥檒l Ever Have as part of an acoustic EP, sold only at her live shows and via her website. She plays a London show at The Bedford this Tuesday (May 22), followed by Meadowlands Festival (2 June) and the new bands stage at Beach Break Live (June 15).

SILENCE RISES - Feeling Clever - 33:27

This new single from Huddersfield 5 piece SILENCE RISES will be released in physical and digital formats on May 29th. Before that you can catch them live opening for The Chevin this Wednesday (May 23rd) at The Cockpit, and in Liverpool with Eyes and Black Hill on Saturday (May 26th) at Mello Mello. Recent highlights have included being invited by David Gedge to open for The Wedding Present and by Tim Burgess (no less) to play the 2011 Friends of Mine Festival. Their biog tells us they "continue to focus their style in to well crafted, hook filled, venue filling music with huge towering bursts which take the listener on a dynamic audio journey" but we won't hold that against them.

WE CUT CORNERS - The Male Mind - 36:48

WE CUT CORNERS are the Dublin duo of John Duignan and Conall O'Breachain. "We write short songs on drums and guitar" they tell us and indeed - at 3'10" - The Male Mind is one of the two longest tracks on their debut album TODAY I REALISED I COULD GO HOME BACKWARDS - released in Ireland last November. It also includes previous singles Go Easy, The Leopard, and A Pirate's Life - and all tracks can be heard and purchased in lossless audio quality via their website. The band's Twitter feed bears the slogan "all of my demons shimmered in sequins, my angels bored in white". Go figure.

GHOST LAKE - Late Spring Morning Sunlight - 39:55

Now here's a thing. When sending music to the 主播大秀 Introducing uploader a UK postcode is required as part of the submission process, to ensure your local new music show gets to hear about you. So it was a pleasant surprise to find GHOST LAKE's Late Spring Morning Sunlight there - being as its the work of one Henric Wallmark "making Indiepop from the snowrolling landscapes and rainslippery slopes of Northern Sweden". It's the title track of Henric's new 6-track EP - released in March through the Creative Commons Netlabel THEM Records - and features the bass and drumwork of multi-instrumentalist Gunnar Carl茅n.

BETHANY WEIMERS - William And His Ghost - 43:19

London born, Oxford raised alt-folk artist BETHANY finally released her long anticipated debut album HARPSICHORD ROW at the beginning of this month on 1784 Records. She recorded it at home in splendid isolation in the course of last year armed with a single microphone, ProTools, and a vocal booth fashioned from sleeping bags and an upturned couch. Mind you, she did already have a masters degree in composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama which probably helped the enterprise on its way. Since we've already played her songs Desire and Silver Moon from said album, it seemed only right to make it a hat trick and include the splendid William And His Ghost on this week's mixtape.

REBECCA MAYES - The Lights - 47:16

Rebecca Mayes has curly hair and drinks Rooibos tea. Her favourite instrument is the zither. She had her first big break when one of her songs was used on Charlie Brooker's 主播大秀4 programme, Gameswipe. Her videogame-review album 'The Epic Win' was released in May 2010 and she's been chosen by IC Music - a network of venues across Belgium, France and the UK - as one of a dozen artists who'll get to tour in big venues across Europe. When this track came out as a single on iTunes on May 7th Rebecca asked her fanbase to bombard me with emails requesting the track (see earlier blog post for why this is an extremely bad idea) but we've since kissed and made up. Even though stray emails about the song keep trickling into my inbox even now.

LUX LISBON - Sunflower - 50:58

Stuart Rook, Lux Lisbon's singer lives in Durham and works in Newcastle. We've been playing their music on 6 Music Introducing shows for four years now, and finally got to meet Stuart when he came in as a guest earlier this year as the old show was coming to an end. They are a 5 piece indie-rock band who met (and recorded their recent debut album 'Your Heart Is A Weapon The Size Of Your Fist) in Nottingham. This year they have played Camden Crawl and Dot to Dot festival and are booked for Bestival 2012. Their selfrecorded and selfreleased album is available on Bandcamp, where this track Sunflower is available as a free download.

ONE MINUTE WANDA - The Process - 54:26

I've been playing tunes by the wilfully obtuse ONE MINUTE WANDA aka JO PERSONA aka artist JO PEARSON since April 2008 ."I could be anyone," she says "but I'm me. I could be anywhere, but I'm here. I make it up as I go along - don't you?" I love the way her eccentric sonic landscapes make no absolutely concession to commerce, and the fact that none of them ever lasts much more than a minute. You can download a wide selection of these lo-fi gems on her bandcamp - I especially recommend .

DEAR LEADERS - Not Summer - 56:23

"Formed in Bristol at the tail end of 2009, Dear Leaders meld fragments of electro, surf and ethereal dreampop together using warping synth, clattering drums and spaced-out guitar. Their self-released debut EP 'Not Summer' was written over the course of two years that saw numerous changes and relocations via Burma, Norwich and London. The instrumental title track harks back to simpler times, having morphed from an early bedroom demo into a hypnotic, fully-formed live favourite. Recent collaborations include work with emerging Bristol artist Katy Christianson, with her intricately detailed artwork fronting the screen-printed, hand-made sleeves of the EP and adorning the walls of the recent launch gig at the Hardy Tree Gallery in London." Nuff said.
