There actually is a track called 'The Iron Sea' on their album.

It's track 08.

For a music researcher that's a pretty shocking mistake considering the album's called 'Under The Iron Sea' and the fact most albums have a title track on it.

Just thought i'd say that..

Hello, there are two tracks that i think would be great for the MOTD montages.

The first would be Urban Species, Blanket. This would provide a good soundtrack to Sven looking confused.

The second would be Zero 7, Waiting Line. This would be a good choice for England, if they crash out of the tournament.

主播大秀 montages have been great, but Sigur Ros has been a bit over-used. I love the album but it's got to the point it almost seems lazy to use them in a montage sequence.

For an instrumental montage piece, I'd go for something like Dayvan Cowboy by Boards Of Canada, particularly as an opening sequence for a big game.

I've also noticed that Sarah has appeared in 3 Of the last 4 blogs. Has Paul, who should be a Bolton fan by the Way, just gotten Lazy??

Despite the fact that it may sound highly comical at first, the theme tune from Top Gun would make an excellent montage tune. If you don't believe me just try playing it while imagining previous England goals, tense moments in penalty shoot outs and jubilant celebrations. I did this purely by accident before last weeks game and I swear I almost shed a whimsical tear

Another bad officiating!! I'm a Brazilian fan, but still excpect more from these cream of the crop referees. Maybe it's too much to ask. The line man on the Adriano's goal was outpaced and out of position..one could say...he slept on the job. I though these referees go through rigorous physical regiment before they're deemed fit to conduct a game, if I might add at this level? I hope FIFA is doing something about these errors.

Paul, have you thought about featuring one of your graphics operators in your blog? It must be a tough job to get so many graphics right under so much pressure.

The Top Gun is a decent suggestion actually.

Considering a lot of us MOTD viewers (and presenters!) are over 30 somethings, how about playing some music we actually remember like some 80's or 90's for a change!

The lyrics to the rousing song 'Destiny Calling' by James are perfect for a football montage.

Does anyone know the tune thats being used in the montage of all the faces of the players minutes after they have finished a game. It includes the line "you dont know how to ease my pain" A great tune but dont know the name of it, being trying to find out.

I was wondering what the song was and although I thought it sounded like Keane, I'd given up hope of finding out which song it was. It's easier on adverts, as there are websites specifically designed for the purpose, but is there any sort of record available for this kind of stuff?

I'm sure it'll be a nice montage, but it'll be on mute in my house. You know you wanted to use The Flaming Lips' 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Part 2' for all those tackles in the Portugal v. Holland game.

Oh, and a belated (two years) thumbs up for using Jon Brion's score for Punch-Drunk Love for the Euro 2004 (I think) promo-type-things.

Music has some inspiration power that sometimes works well. It is surprising that fans are so crazy that they send suggestions for the England montage to make the players inspired in the field and it is yet to see how it will in the next match. I hope, music will give some privileges to the England in their next match against Germany.

May be a bit obvious but what about a little Bach, Mozart, Beethoven or Wagner would reflect theme of 1990 World Cup in Italy, music from the host Country; far to many compositions to consider here, but there must be a few that could be used. However,please no more covers of classic rock tunes by Mc Fly can't find words to describe how bad that was. Not cool or clever.

How about "Confusion" by And His Voice Became...? It even contains the lyric, 'you're moving on, you're standing still', which seems to sum things up at the moment.

What gets me, and it's not just the 主播大秀 either, is that the TV titles before a match are all classical music and look very expensive to produce, probably going on for longer than they should. They look similar regardless of which channel you watch. Come on guys, show some imagination once in a while. I mean, have you ever had a thought about anything? at all? ever?

The music didn't work with the montage, you really should try Higher by Creed. I ran it along side the montage and it worked.

The lyrics of "There's a hunger longing to escape" when Sven slapped his knee's was great.

If/when england continue to under perform and go out I reckon a good track would be What Happened to Ya by Sir Ian "King of Monkeys" Brown.

You should use the song 'Lucky' by Radiohead on any England montages of their progress thus far.

I think that 'Sit Down' by James would be a good tune for a montage should England get knocked out. I've an image in my head of Sven sitting alone on the bench with his head in his hands.
I also think that MoTD should do a montage of all the diving that we've seen so far. This could be backed by another James tune, 'She's a Star'.

The song was 'Numb', by The Pet Shop Boys.

I bought it from Woolworths downloads for 59p.

It was indeed Numb by the Pet Shop Boys and is off the album Fundamental which was released on 22nd May 2006.

The whole montage was fantastic and the choice of song spot on.

I thought that choice of music was rubbish. it failed to depict any of the correct emotion felt by england supporters. normally i love bbc montages but i felt that one was hopeless.

Truely fantastic montage with the pet Shop Boys song perfectly complementing the visuals. Summed up perfectly how I felt after the match.

The Benny Hill show theme

The final montage of Englands world cup experience aired following the England vs Portugal game was spot on!

It depicted the feelings of the Nation after that match.
I still cant stop watching it even now.

The song is very powerful and, when it was aired post our knock out against Portugal, it brought tears to my eyes!
