Not sure if you can use unsigned bands and artists for the montages, but may I suggest some of my own tracks - very "montage", imagery, instrumental stuff. Try "Croydon Library" and "Never Alone remix" for starters....

Ode to Isis by ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead would be a good one, never heard it used anywhere on UK tv yet, altho I think maybe the NBA did use it last year for the start of games. It's perfect for these kind of montages and is certainly far less obvious than using anything from the new Sigur Ros album!!

When we get knocked out it has to be "No Use Crying" by Embrace.

I have always hoped to see a montage with Magical Dream by 808 State (album 808:90) as the words used in it convey both dissapointment and joy.
Plus it has the great ending line which is:
"Come with us and have no fear, just close your eyes and disappear".

I imagine this end being perfect with that slow motion image of a player closing his eyes in disappointment after missing the penalty that sees his side going out of the competition.

How about "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin? What a cracker.

How about Morrisey's 'Everyday is like Sunday'
a nice dreary ditty about being cloudy & grey, like the seaside town, they forgot to close down.

Use something like 'swallowed by the sea' by Coldplay. That is quite a powerful song by one of if not our most popular recent band. The sound of the song fits in with how we as fans feel about the team.

There is a fantastic track by a band called Dirty Vegas, called "Human Love." I'm a fan anyway, but found the lyrics particularly pertinent after watching us win the Ashes last year:

"When you've waited for so long,
To be where you are and
where you're coming from.
When you gave it all so much
In return for human love."

It's got a great strings arrangement on it, and the melody can be interpreted as either uplifting or sadly reflective. Good for either eventuality: lifting the trophy or being cruelly denied by a dodgy decision / the lottery of penalties...

There's only one track you should use when England progress to the Quarter Finals and that's JOHN PARR VS TOMMYKNOCKERS: 'NEW HORIZON'.

The track's just awesome, really upbeat with the lyrics:

Seems appropriate as an England supporter.

I think 'touch the sky' by kanye west is a good song for a montage. It is upbeat, and the title is kind of appropriate as all the teams in the world cup are aiming for the top!! Love Spreads by the Stone Roses always goes down a treat too, cant beat that guitar rift!

How about "Our Time is Running Out" by Muse. With pictures of Englands performance.

Yeah what's up with all the Sigur Ros in 主播大秀 trailers? Did you get a job lot of licensing rights or something? They were on that David Attenborough trailer, now the Wimbledon one and I've heard them on loads of other stuff too.

Think Cold Play is a good idea - but surely "Fix You" is absolutely perfect....

My Sacrifice by Creed would be very good if you were to do a montage of england's failings or maybe the injuries or whatever. It woudl also look very good if the video was done in Black and White, a very moody piece.

Montage accompaniment suggestion: A good friend of mine writes n records his own music at home.Some of it is great.

His track called "Shaken" is quite energetic and would accompany shots of balls blasting in goals/misses/errors really well and he'd remix it to suit your needs to !!!

Hi, how about 'Stay/Far away so close' by U2. The only reason why is because the video for this song was shot in Belin around 1993. It's a cool underated song by U2. Might be appropriated for a sentimental perhaps farwell montage for Berlin (the 主播大秀's base).

While I'm talking about U2 - Zoo Station, named after a railway station in Berlin. Also Zooropa - Bono even sings a line of German in this song 'Zooropa...vorsprung durch technik' (The opening lyric)

My favourite piece of football montage music was during the 2002 world cup (which I suggested at the time). Before Ireland's match against Spain, M.O.T.D showed a piece featuring the good days of Irish football with 'With or without you' as backing music - magic! Thanks again!

Don't use the bit with vocals because the words are a bit rude. The instrumental bit at the end would be great though.

Not sure if you have heard it but it's by BRAHMS and is called Schicksalslied (which means 'Song of Fate/Destiny' could be appropriate!).

It's German, very moving, and features a choir. Have a listen and I'd be interested to hear what you think...

Maybe if we are left with Crouch as our only striker, say he scores the only goal of the match, the track You're All I Have by Snow Patrol would be very fitting.

All Around the World by Oasis would be a good song to show clips for a few countries, possibly Goal of the week/tournament videos, or summarising the World Cup at the end

Have a listen to Bring En Hei by Baschi. It is used by Swiss TV and it works well to emphasis the positive. Something we need right now. Don't forget to edit out the lyrics!!!
