I really, really, really hope Rooney has recovered so that he can play all England games in the world cup.

Look - my thought - and I mentioned a bit of this earlier is that there is some unnecessary drama and over the top chat about Rooney's foot BUT it is because the lad isa class apart among the England strikers - AND I include Owen in this! The Press coverage of Rooney here in Washington is daft!
SO the question becomes who could replace him? I think you have to go to Crouch and Owen AND be very prepared to bring Defoe off the bench - VOTE your thought here:

Let me break it to you gently - the only people 'haunted' by this story are the press pack. Normal people, if they care about the world cup, realise that the England team is about more than one player.

He is a true City and German legend as is too often forgotten. Lets use his example to avoid all the rivalry rubbish and concentrate on a peaceful, exciting tournament- and an England Victory!

I also heard a rumour about the Rooney foot being a set up.

There were even alledged sightings of Rooney running around a motorway service station and kicking an object about in the parking area for coaches.

Actually I always like to know what other news agencied are focussing on. Despite our obsession with a certain foot plus the usual hype/moans do other news folk do the same? The Italians? Brazilian? Be nice to know what the other countries are focussing on

SURELY the tackle on 29th April 2006 during the Man Utd v Chelsea game could not have been set up, and given Rooney's competitive nature, I cant see him agreeing to take himself out of any match if he were able to continue.

The pain you saw on his face was there in front of you, you cant fake that. Also, why would you have him sitting round munching pies on a plane back and forth between England and Germany if he were really fit enough to be training with the team?

as a swede i can only hope that the foot remains injured.

Sadly though Aaron, most people who support England would concede that our best chance is WITH Rooney, and lets face it we don't look much cop without him.

the biggest topic in the German news (well, BILD-Zeitung) about the world cup today was Mexico's Televisia's reporter Alicia Machado, who used to be Miss Universe in 1996. She tried to interview the Costa Ricans in Walldorf today but soon became center of attention - probably because of what she was wearing... or not wearing ;-) Is the 主播大秀 also sending someone as hot as her to Germany ;-)?

I do not know whether Rooney鈥檚 injury is the most focused or famous in the world but it is true that all the anticipation of English fans towards their second world cup victory is now rounding up with Rooney. I even do not know whether it is a drama or and set up but I am sure Rooney will have some impact on England teams as well as their against teams and now it is yet to see whether the impact is positive or negative.

Rooney is essential for England, what Rooney has cant be taught its all instinct and a rare breed of a footballer, a very unique special player.

Well from an outside point of view, England and its fans shouldnt be so worried about one player. Even if he is out for the next year because of the foot injury he resieved. England has depth or atleast they have a huge pool of players probably hopeing for a phone call that says, "Rooney sadly wont make it, we need your help ". All in all I personaly think that Englands chances may have been hurt but if they make the right moves, and play as a team. They should have no worries. Look at my American side we would be happy to get any one of Rooney's potential back up strikers.

Like all England supporters I was pleased to hear Wayne in back training, however I could not help being concerned by his claim (主播大秀 headline yesterday) of a 300% recovery !!!!
Perhaps I have missed the point, but surely the grafting of 3 extra feet to Wayne's leg will cause to be unbalanced and play lie a donkey.
Would someone please urge the Englan Physio to advise him that a 100% recovery is plenty for most of us - even something in the high 90's might do !

Every time I come across a Rooney article in the paper, I don't read it. It bores me. I skip the page. I would rather read a decent article on Argentina's chances, how the African sides are going to fair, or are Brazil as good as 70' or 82'. I'm going to enjoy the world cup, not a medical report.

I want England to do well as much as anyone. I know how good he is and how important to England's chances of getting to the semis and beyond, but now he's been declared fit enough for the squad, that should be it. Gerrard, Terry and Lampard are arguably better players and more influential. Any team with those three surrounded by the consistancy or Robinson, Neville, Cole & co, with Beckham seemingly in great form would stand a chance of winning it in any case, Rooney is merely the icing on the cake.

For now though, I'm going to sit back and enjoy Poland v Ecuador tomorrow night and forget about metatarsals and Wayne Rooney.

Uncle Sven is positioning himself as the nice guy who wants to let Wayne play with his chums, unlike that nasty Fergie who wants to stop all his World Cup fun. Fergie will be angry with Wayne and very mean to him when he goes back to Man Utd for pre-season training, but Uncle Sven will be managing Real Madrid by then, and will say 'Come and play with your chum David and all these other superstars.' Wayne won't realise that Madrid is not a seaside town, and will be keen to play for nice Uncle Sven. Fergie will go ballistic when the Glazer family are thrilled by the prospect of making a 拢33 million profit on Wayne, but no matter how ballistic he goes it won't make any difference. As Everton discovered, when money talks, Wayne walks...
