nation votes for Poltimore House
Restoration
results from fourth programme revealed
Speaking
from the Tower of London, Griff Rhys Jones tonight (Friday 22 August)
revealed that the nation had chosen Poltimore House in Devon to
be the fourth building to go through to the final of the 主播大秀 TWO
series Restoration.
On
Tuesday (19 August) in the fourth programme of the ten-part series,
Griff called on viewers to choose between Poltimore House and two
other buildings - Whitfield Tabernacle in Kingswood near Bristol
and Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol.

The
imposing Poltimore House is Exeter's only grand country house.
Once
home to the politically influential Bampfylde family, they ended
their long residency in 1921 when the vast costs of running the
estate finally forced them to sell up.
The
house has since seen various reincarnations including a boys' school,
a girls' school and then a hospital.
In
recent decades Poltimore has been the victim of wholesale theft
and it now sits derelict and stranded.
Tonight's
result means Poltimore House will now become one of ten buildings
to be featured in the live final at the Tower of London in mid-September.
Here
a nationwide vote will decide which building should be given a new
lease of life with money raised throughout the course of the series.
Caroline
Dudley, Heritage Lottery Fund Chair for the South West Committee,
said: "Politmore House is one of the South West's premier pieces
of built heritage and it is a building worth treasuring. We
are delighted that it has reached the final.
"The
building has a rich architectural, cultural and social history and
offers a real insight into the region's past.
"The
Heritage Lottery Fund is committed to helping as many people as
possible celebrate their heritage, so this week we pledged to The
Restoration Fund to help restore the winner, which ever one that
may be."
Restoration
attracted more than three million viewers in this last episode and
there are campaigns and activities going on all around the UK in
order to save these buildings.
Tonight
three more buildings were featured for viewers to choose between,
all from Northern Ireland - the Lissan House in Cookstown; Herdmans
Mill in Sion Mills; and Belfast's Crescent Arts Centre.
Next Tuesday's episode of Restoration (26 August) will reveal which
of these will become the fifth building to go through to the final.

transmits on 主播大秀 TWO on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.00pm.
Restoration
voting lines are open for three days for each programme from 2.00am
on day prior to transmission until midnight on day after.
