Hell-raising hair dos, dodgy perms and the return of Steve Strange: Celebrity Scissorhands is back!

How to get involved

Viewers can participate in Celebrity Scissorhands by booking appointments with one of the celebrity trainees. You can apply to be in with a chance of an appointment online at bbc.co.uk/scissorhands.

After receiving a treatment, all clients will be asked to pay what they think their treatment was worth. All tips and donations made to the Academy will go directly to 主播大秀 Children in Need.

Get interactive with Celebrity Scissorhands Online

The new and improved Celebrity Scissorhands website is back to bring viewers all the very best in goings on and horror haircuts from inside the Academy.

Jam-packed with exclusive news, videos and picture galleries, the site allows visitors to find out all the gossip before the show hits the screens on 主播大秀 Three.

It's also the place where viewers can get involved in Celebrity Scissorhands by applying for an appointment with one of the celebrity trainees. After receiving a treatment, all clients will be asked to pay what they think their treatment was worth. All tips and donations made to the Academy will go directly to 主播大秀 Children in Need.

And in a fund-raising first for 主播大秀 Children in Need, this year Celebrity Scissorhands hits social networking site Facebook.

Fans of the show can add the Celebrity Scissorhands widget to their profile, say what crazy hair do they are going to have done for the charity, and ask to be sponsored by friends and family to do it.

Facebook fans of the show will be able to see a gallery of all the sponsored haircuts. Users will also be kept up to date with all the action with video clips and newsfeeds.

Notes to Editors

The 主播大秀 Children in Need Appeal 2008

主播大秀 Children in Need positively changes the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

The 2008 主播大秀 Children in Need Appeal is now underway and culminates with the star-studded 主播大秀 One Telethon show on Friday 14 November, at 7pm.

The theme for this year's 主播大秀 Children in Need Appeal is Do Something Different, and we are challenging everyone to get creative and raise much needed funds for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Doing Something Different doesn't mean doing anything difficult, expensive or scary; it just means doing something outside of your normal routine to help us raise money.

From dressing up, to dressing down, to baking, running an event such as a disco or fancy dress party, to organising a sponsored walk, a little goes a long way. For inspiration, there are lots of fantastic ideas in our new fundraising pack which can be downloaded at bbc.co.uk/pudsey or by phone on: 0345 607 3333.

Last year, the British public helped to raise an amazing and record-breaking 拢37 million, every penny of which went directly to projects that make a real and positive difference to the lives of young people, right here in the UK.

There are still thousands more children and young people living with mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. That is why we are asking for everyone's support again in 2008.

Since the 主播大秀 Children in Need Appeal started in 1980, 拢480 million has been raised to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of disadvantaged youngsters.

This year, with the help and support of public fundraisers, we plan to break the half billion mark!

Our grants fund a diverse range of projects but are all targeted on areas of the greatest need.

主播大秀 Children in Need Appeal is a charity registered in England and Wales (802052) and Scotland (SC039557).
