Interserve, Dogs & Grace Road

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

A clean hospital ward and some decent food are surely amongst the top priorities for any patient. But over the last few years both those services have been in the firing line at Leicester's three main hospitals - the Infirmary, the General and Glenfield. And now the NHS Trust responsible has ended its contract with the private contractor Interserve who have been providing those services. The 拢300 million should have run for several more years. But yesterday, the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust said it's ending early as "it's no longer appropriate" for the deal with Interserve to continue.
Also, "please keep your dogs under control!" That's the plea from farmers in Leicestershire after a rise in the number of attacks on livestock. Its been estimated that in the last year almost 2-thousand livestock were killed or injured in the Midlands, and claims to insurers NFU Mutual have gone up 35% on the previous year.
And, we already know that the huge superstar Elton John is going to be playing at Grace Road this summer - now Leicestershire Cricket Club has hit another winner. Its one of only five grounds in England who'll host the Women's World Cup in 2017. So what will the impact be for both the women's game in general, and also for people living near the ground, who're coping with living nearby a ground whose popularity is on the up and up?
