By blending traditional African rhythms and instruments with infectious soul melodies, Arcadia Roots are creating a sound and atmosphere that defies genre.

Influenced by artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Dave Small, Maddy Abbots, Josh Terry, Danny Gauden and Tom Callinswood have recently attracted the attention of Deborah Bonham - sister of the late great Led Zep drummer - who's asked them to support her at a forthcoming gig.

"Pure energy delivered with a driving rhythm, not forgetting the homemade cigarette box guitar that had Hay rocking" - Andrew Marston.

Glastonbury

Glastonbury

For any musician, Glastonbury is one of those festivals they aspire to play at.

With the likes of Adele, David Bowie and Coldplay performing over the years, it's surely any young musician's dream.

Our very own AKA George, who's 21-years-old and from Leominster, is doing just that!

And a band from Worcester will be performing their second-ever gig - at the event.

Newly-formed Mikita were spotted at their first performance together, last weekend, by one of the organisers and have been given a spot on one of the smaller stages.

24 - 26 June: The Linton Festival nr Ross-on-Wye

24 - 26 June: The Linton Festival nr Ross-on-Wye

This year, The Linton Festival celebrates its 17th year - championing the very best in live rock and blues.

The headliners include Suzi Quatro, Geno Washington and Martin Turner from Wishbone Ash.

The event began when some of the regulars of The Alma Inn realised it would be cheaper to get The Producers to come to Linton, rather than hire a mini bus and drive all the way to Poole in Dorset.

Then they decided rather than having one band - they'd have loads!

23 - 26 June: The Upton Jazz Festival

23 - 26 June: The Upton Jazz Festival

More than 60 concerts will be taking place in various locations across the town.

This year, they'll have three marquees on the sports ground as well as live music taking place throughout Upton.

Now entering its fourth decade, the organisers promise improved camping, a bigger choice of stalls, food and drink, plus free car parking.

Taurus v Stairway To Heaven

Taurus v Stairway To Heaven

A jury has decided Worcestershire's Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin band mate Jimmy Page did not plagiarise a song by the American band Spirit when they wrote Stairway To Heaven.

The pair had to appear at a federal court in Los Angeles to deny claims the guitar intro to the 1971 song was "lifted" from an instrumental track called Taurus.听

Following a week-long trial, a jury of four men and four women found Taurus and Stairway To Heaven were not "extrinsically similar."
