Louise McCarthy

Comedy actor

Our cast of comedy geniuses may be unknown to you as yet so we sent the show's producer Gerald Strother along to find out more, Gerald meets Louise...

Give me a couple of lines about yourself. What have you done? What’s your background? Professionally speaking…

After training as an actress my very first job was actually a musical in the west end playing Lisa in Mamma Mia. I also perform in and have co-written my own comedy show with fellow cast member Gayle Telfer Stevens. It's called and that goes on tour around Scotland from the end of Oct till end of Nov. At the moment I have just stated rehearsal for 's play The Three Sisters. Adapted by John Byrne. It's on at The Tron and the Kings Edinburgh from the 1st Oct - 25th Oct. I need to get my serious acting head on now!

Tell me some comedy stuff that you like. Programmes, stand ups… what makes ya giggle?

I'm a huge fan of observational comedy. I love and . Although they are two very different comedians I love their quick wit and fantastic ability to really suck you in with a story then hit you with some killer punch lines. I also grew up with who I think is just a fantastic female comic- there's not enough of them around. Women are seriously funny and I would love to see more female Scottish based comedy on the screen.

Erm, something about filming or rehearsing with us. Was ANY of the experience enjoyable? (Lunch can be included in your fond memory if that was the best bit or you can just big me up. No?)

What can I say ? What a team we had working on this. It really was all hands on deck. I loved the freedom we had on this job. I liked that suggestions where encouraged and that we were allowed to experiment with different ideas and different characters. It really was one of my funest TV jobs to date. Even the crew pitched in as extras in a few scenes.

My highlight however was my power hair do in one of the sketches.
