Colin Popp

Colin was born in Dowlais near Merthyr Tydfil in 1942 and lived there until he moved to Cefn Coed y Cymmer 20 years ago.

A retired carpenter, he has a great interest in antiques, and is often to be found in Jacobs Antiques Market in Cardiff. His personal collection includes paraffin lamps, Staffordshire figures and clocks – one room in his house is home to 14 clocks! As well as antiques, Colin collects art. He has about 50 pictures, mostly paintings and prints. One of favourite artists is Van Gogh. He enjoys visiting museums and art galleries and his favourite pieces in the National Museum Cardiff are prints and oil paintings.

If you're going in for a challenge you've got to be confident. No good doing it half-heartedly.
Colin

A carpenter for most of his life, he understands the craft of framing, and sometimes buys pieces of art at auctions or shops for the frame only, replacing the picture with something to his taste. He is not a great admirer of modern art but appreciates that is does appeal to some people.

His hobbies include walking and visiting antique fairs, auctions and shops.
