deceased mobile

my mobile has been fatally injured. I dropped it - yet again - and this time it hit the floor with a horrible crash, and when I picked it up it had a complete black triangle obliterating the top third of the screen. kinda like a bad bruise. Its been hard to cope with a sick mobile, and have had to spend ages deciphering texts, and can't read what I've written. Life is SO hard sometimes. I can't read the time either. How much must I endure...

Have ordered a new one.

funeral arragements in place for old mobile. what songs shall we choose? what will I write on the headstone? flowers? and should I put an announcement in the paper.. ..pass the paper hankies someone...

Ach, just throw it down the pit! Talking about pits: do the crofts and (new as well as old) houses in the country [both in NI and WI] just use a drop down with a thud pit, or do most have indoor plumbing with septic tank/drainage field. Curious.

Gone but not 4gotten on the headstone. Donna Mobile for the music.

Drowning in Berlin - By The Mobiles of course. I spy an A-Z of Mobile Songs coming up.

Herman from Orkney

pits - some folk have pits in their garage. don't understand the drop and thud bit, and why wid a garage pit need plumbing? and whats a septic tank - do you call NHS24? has it got wartime connections? can you catch anything from it? its out of my depth. is it something to do with being green? are we modern or old fashioned if we admit to chuckin it on the rhubarb patch?

For music, how about Cliff Richard's "We Don't Talk Anymore"?

Scallowawife: I must be writing in a foreign language. Poor me, I thought it was English. By the way, you are supposed to chuck it on the rice paddies, but, being in Shetland, you may be forgiven for spreading it on the rhubarb patch instead. Rhubarb pie is a weakness of mine ...

mjc from NM

mjc - I thought rhubarb pie was a weakness of the small intestine........

So, Flying Cat is back in town (Stromness?). Talking about Stromness, I just ordered the recent biography of GMB: it's better be good ( horrible price). I was wondering how long you would be out of the country. Would you believe that Scallowawife does not know what a drop down with a thud pit is!! That's what living in fancy downtown (or is it uptown?) Scalloway does to you.

rhubarb - have horrible memories of thick custard and skin, with stewed rhubarb, crying over it ALL lunchtime (we used to call it dinnertime then) refusing to eat it. think I was about 7 years old and there was thunder and lightenening, and we got sent home - all 17 of us (the whole school) so no, I hate rhubarb and custard. its so annoying because it grows so well here - we could live off it if it was nice. the taste is ok - its the look and texture. shudder.

A previous comment answering your input, Flying Cat, has not come up from IBHQ. It's a crapshoot, and does not make for continuity. Anyway, glad to know you are back (in Stromness?) Flying Cat, and hope you had a grand time (Glasgow? Algarve? Anatolia?).

mjc from NM,USA

Not Scallowawife's rhubarb pie! (I am hoping flattery works, and I get a standing invitation for a Sue Lawrence like five course meal down the road). Heaven knows what happened to intervening comments as they transited IBHQ to only NSA knows where. Anyway, hope Scallowawife and son find Loch Ness monster, enjoys visit with older son in Glasgow, and does not spend more than a little fortune at IKEA.

mjc you are showing the most immense good taste in ordering the Maggie Fergusson GMB biog. It is reputed to be tip-top. I have it from the horse's mooth (fpu). (Oi, who are you calling a horse, FC??)

Please all plantlovers excuse speling of that plant. I am a pusscat, not a botanist. I am back from Big Cage, mjc, but my humans are back from the lovely misty tourist rip-off Isle of Skye.
