Hi Folks
Well its been pretty quiet at Barebraes recently but there have been stirrings of some sort of activity, and I dont mean Mr B getting out of bed!!
The Summer is supposed to be on the way although as I sit here writing this Blog the wind is whipping up a hoolie outside and the rain is pounding on the roof. No change there then?
The poor Mrs Duck is huddled ootside under the Pampas grass trying to protect a dozen eggs from the elements in the hope tht they will hatch into more Roast Dinners.. opps did I say that .... Mrs Duck would be no doubt horrified at the thought.
In an effort to make some sort of progress Mr B and myself have been grafting away at the Gable End, a very long painful process which has taken a lot of time and even more effort than anticipated. Here on Shapinsay we do not have the ever so speedy Fred from Lewis who can transform a hoose into a palace in the time you can say ' whos the Whitesettler' or 'Fc put that frog down'
No its down to just me and him so you can see why its a lengthy process.
Well after endless weeks we have something to show for our efforts and in true Bloggin style here are the results

That looks like major progress to me, Barebraes. But what about that bit of the roof truss that sticks out? Will there be a wall underneath it? Poor Hooch, he won't know what's wrong once you've finished all your work! Good luck.

Good to hear from you Barebraes. You folks must come from sturdy stock. Be careful: no accident. I assume the position of the truss means that there will be an overhang: is that so? Hooch looks as human as ever: good dog!

I'm sure I tried to post a comment about John Prescott yesterday...maybe it was just a nightmare...Anyway, Hooch is much better looking and wouldn't dream of being unfaithful I am sure!

Yes mjc thats right there will be an overhang to shelter you from the weather (joke) horizontal rain gets everyone !! Putting the finishing touches to the chimney so more pics to follow shortly. Fc how did you guess that Hoochs middle name was Prescott :)

Prescott as Hooch's middle name. What did he do to deserve such a fate? By the way, compared to ole Johnny, Hooch is a beauty.
