Hey Adam over 200 posts last time out - pretty grim. I warned earleir in the week about all the chatting and being nice to each other. Obviously my warnings fell on deaf ears.

This week I am going to be the champion of 2 or 3 tracks suggested for each show.

TUESDAY:

Bryan: Hope you can dig out that old tape you have of the theme song to "The High Life" by Alan Cumming and Forbes Masson...Cumming's character was even called Sebastian Flight (not as good a name as (Mussolini in micromesh) Shona Spurtle though). Surely one of the funniest TV series ever made.

Tuesday must feature something from The Byrds, mebbe 8 miles high (tho something tells me this was mental or chemical flying). Expecting to Fly from the Buffalo Springfield would be good, or Birds by Neil Young. And possibly Drop the Pilot from Joan Armatrading? Or I'm Raving by Scooter (Put on my raving shoes and I boarded a plane. Touched down in the land where the skies were blue, in the middle of the pouring rain.)

8 Miles High would be great. I also thought the Roxy cover was excellent.

I would love to hear a track by Will Oldham which I just cannot track down called One With the Birds, I have a live cover version by David Gray and when I have seen him perform it I think it is a great track - but I have never heard the original.

How cool is that?

However cool it is - Manny Charlton ws an old pal of my cousin who was lead guitarist in Streetheart in Canada - massive stadium rock group over there. They are still going strong in the current 'revival' stuff going the rounds. Jini's and Naz'z are both great tracks!

Morning all! Imagine saltspringsherri encouraging me! Some great selections above and The Flyer by Nanci is a great track Joe, what about Outbound Plane by her as well. Also Long Time Comin' by Springsteen?

Could I make an appeal for nothing by the Blue Aeroplanes!! Truly one of the worst bands I have ever seen we only went to see the Boo Hewerdine and Neil McColl band The Bible supporting. However I remain scarred by the dancer so maybe the music was not that bad! Someone will let me know!

Yeah I do think Nae Regrets would be a brilliant choice for Monday - remember the response last time a Bennett track was played on the show? Fantastic man and great music. A friend of mine worked with him and was involved in the tribute concert after MB died. By all accounts a really nice guy and a superbly talented musician.

On Tuesday night's flight plan I would love to hear Mary Hopkin The Sparrow.
It was on the b-side of her single Goodbye.
A simply beautiful tune and sung with
the voice of a angel. I remember playing it over and over again as a young child watching the Apple label spin round.

Hoppolocus great shout for Leader of the Pack - Shangri La's. It's on my list also.

Scotch - I think as long as the music is great that's all that matters. Freebird is a superb track and fits the bill nicely. It was perhaps the Tops' best ever hit and would grace any playlist.

"Flying Sorcery" by Al Stewart. It's a great about the pioneering English aviatrix Amy Johnson. YOu can tell that Al really took his time honing the lyrics.

I would appreciate it if you DO NOT play "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz as it has really, really bad lyrics. "I wish that I could fly/Into the sky/So very high/Just like a dragonfly". I saw a dragonfly once, it was flying about one meter off the ground.

Apparently the loud drum noise in the chorus was made by banging a heavy chain against the concrete floor of a big empty cupboard.

I have a vinyl LP called "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments". It includes a song featuring the likes of kettles, blenders etc. as musical instruments. Fortunately perhaps, I can't listen to it as I have no turntable but, because of the theme, I do wonder what it sounded like - think the track was "The World is a Concerto". :-)

Thanks for asking about the M77 - not too bad, to be honest (and a lot better than before it was built and the road came down from three lanes to one at Newton Mearns - and a lot better than before GIO started!).
