Further proof of the vox pop tendency - don't blog in advance for Monday's show - except the opening number - bit of a disadvantage for the blogotariat leaving work etc...

Glen is right, it depends on how you hear it.Therefore, I think the opening number should be both happy and sad and 2nd the suggestion of 'Here Comes My Baby' by The Tremeloes although there is a digital remake that is a huge improvement on the original - which was very badly recorded, particularly the bass.

Another song which has a really upbeat happy disposition but is accompanied by a truly miserable lyric is 'The Happening' by the Supremes.

Not being able to contribute in advance for Monday is a pain - I've got lots to suggest, but will they be disregarded because, like Friday, we can't start until 6:11 on Monday?

It always makes me think of my eldest daughter Emma.
We lost her 18 months ago to Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 17.
The spirit, drive, energy and enthusiasm for life that she showed despite being confined to a wheelchair was an inspriration to everyone who met her.

It is directly due to her spirit that will make sure I get my 19 stones to the end of the Edinburgh Marathon in 12 weeks time.

That's decent of you Adam - as it turns out, I downloaded this at the weekend after stumbling across Astrud when I was listening out for a version of 'Light My Fire' that I liked.

Of course, this could turn into 'Gaie's 'Dear Mr Wilbury' letter... and we don't want to get moderated again.

But accepting the Girl from Ipanema is tall and tanned and young and lovely,I've got absolutely nothing to lose...the older the fiddle, the better the tune...as they say.

As she glides forward, I look up and say

Sorry to inanely rehash comments on last weeks thread, but when I heard Shirley Bassey's version last week, I realised I'd never heard a version of this (including the original)that I liked.

The trouble with nearly all of them is that in an endeavor to sound 'sexy' they only demonstrate what a hard song it is is to get right. Either too 'musical' like the original or too overblown, like Shirley.

Only one gets it absolutely spot on - Clarence Carter - a lovely soulful feel, which suggests that this is a really sexy soul number, something even the Doors didn't get.Pity Marvin didn't cover it.

You're Beautiful - Love & Money

One of James Grant's finest, a tale of looking and longing - sadly unrequited.But it is beautiful.

Oh and, of course, You're Gorgeous - Babybird
