i think the song you're talking about is 'thank you very much' by the scaffold which just about matches your 60's by the sound of it.
but the only way i can get that into the theme is to tell the story of my next door neighbours extension..........first day of the holidays and up goes the scaffold in my garden without a by your leave...............and it was there for the next 5 months..
