Good Time Train' which would have worked as an alternative title. Requested dozens of times but to no avail - the perfect theme tonight.It would be especially pleasing to hear this.

These two are nostalgia (train)trips. We used to sing them with the boys at bedtime when they were wee. Not along to these versions - manny had (and still has) various song books of songs little kiddies apparently would enjoy. Which they did. I have to say, I preferred our little amateur domestic efforts to either of these, but as we didn't think to record them (how short sighted of us), these aren't half bad.

#18 I can't claim ownership of that expression, it was gifted to me on a training course. Everybody there knew what the trainer (see? on topic) was talking about. We all, no doubt, have experienced similar folk. Clever, smart, funny - but so desperate to call the shots on the mood in the room, they don't mind who's bubble they burst in the process. Aye, glad I got that off my bunion.

Was at a great wee gig the other night in Shrewsbury. A lovely venue that only holds a hundred or so and you can bagsy a sofa if you get there early. Steve Nightly (Show Of Hands) was doing a solo acoustic set and played a fantastic cover of Springsteens 'Downbound Train' and led it into his own remarkable composition 'Country Life', drawing some poignant parallels... anyhow I digress slightly... for tonight:

Thanks for reminding me, Gaie - though The Sleeper isn't my favourite Leisure Society track.

For years I was aerophobic - I'm the only person I know to have driven from Glasgow to a conference at Gatwick Airport, though as a frequent traveller to London, the GNER service from Glasgow to London down the East Coast was my favourite because it had a really good dining car. My colleague and myself would sit ourselves in there, order up bottles of wine and a meal and spin the journey out, getting slowly plastered watching the countryside whizz past. Great fun.

So I have decided that the line " Here in my car, I feel safest of all" qualifies for tonight.

Quite right Paulo. How could I omit Smiffy's portrayal of 'Linda' in the 'Looking for Linda' video - a song about a train journey. It's not my favourite of theirs and I thought Smiffy was mis-cast - far to glamorous and good looking for the role of the downtrodden, escaping Linda, but hey - immortal now.
