Absolutely, Mr CLP... Haven't gotten into tennis this year, not really my cup of tea but was channel hopping and came across The Murray about four or five games before the end.

Such phenomenal skill, such a wonderful match and just so wonderful to watch - thanks to the pair of them.

I would like to say that it cheeses me off just a tad that people are agin the poor chap because he's focussed on his tennis rather than smiling like a lun for the press and public. Who cares...

Aw, Yeah, I was overcome too.

I switched on exact same time - 2 sets down and loosing the third. I couldn't bear it, so I retreated to the bedroom and started the ironing. No 1 Son though, couldn't tear himself away, and kept shouting to me and dragging me back down stairs to see a classic point or challenge. I sat for nearly 20 minutes, just sending positive vibes to Mr Murray. - Do you remember the "Evening with Gary Linekar???" and they all send positive vibes?? That was me....

No. One Boy screamed to the Dogwithnobrain "he's done it he's done it", and I charged downstairs as he rewound the action. (THANK YOU SKY PLUS I LOVE YOU). Tears in my eyes as I watched his celebrations.... That was a match which he fought for and deservedly won. What a Hero.....

Afternoon all and CLP of course.

Have to agree with you about the excitement of sport but Christoff, you forgot the Liverpool game,a few years ago, when they were 3-0 down and came back to win on penalties, the excitement was out of this world, I think I spilt more drink than drank it that night with each and every goal, the whole pub got soaked.

Last night was awesome, even if did only catch it in the last set, the atmos was electric. Good luck to tiger in the next round.

Glad Enzo is ok and loves TV too, he is soooooooo spoilt but who wouldn't.

What a lovely day we have here, stuck in the office, hot, sweaty and a thousand different smells from all the women spraying perfumes etc, beats BO anyday lol

Only an hour to go and looking forward to the show on the way home and looking forward to going home tonight too but cant say too much in case MW,a reads this and I bet she will.

Bells on the clock tower just donged 5 o'clock and I have checked all the clocks in the house and yes it is not quite half-past four. Poor clock tower, heat must be getting to it.

Am sorry to have missed the Murray game now! Went to bed early last night shattered, better today though. Remember Man-U winning the treble, and of course that Wilko kick - good times, good times. So this was up there with the best of them? Maybe I'll have to watch it again.

Hot hot hot here too. Am slowly getting burnt/browned more on one side than the other. This is because there are more panels to be painted propped up on one side of the garden than the other.... and with rains forecast for tomorrow, all panels need to be painted and assembled tonight! Good job the sun's out, drying them all nicely. Two panels left to paint, just come inside for a quick cool-down. I did remember to put suncream on before going outside to toast myself, but I have realised that I forgot to put any on my ears... I think it may already be too late for them, good job I bought after-sun too...

Greetings and Salutations from Vancouver, Canada,

As ever, I have enjoyed your contributions even when not afforded the luxury of time that allow me to add my own.

Since returning from my visit home to Blighty, busy does not even begin to describe things. I landed the new job I was chasing, which is utterly fantastic and got a new kitten to celebrate. We have had a heatwave for the last two weeks, with sumptuous 29 degree days and hot, sultry night. Sometimes, being unable to sleep is not a bad thing...

On the sporting front, as a Blackburn fan, the appointment of Ince is superb and my brother even got interviewed on Sky Sports News as he teaches in Blackburn. Hiking, biking, tennis (get in, Murray, good lad) have all been enjoyed over the weekends and today I have an extra day of (Canada Day) and am off golfing this afternoon.

Phew. I hope you are all well, happy, content and enjoying whatever it is you are indulging it.

Well, boss returned today and guess what ... she let me out half an hour early!! So heard the start of drivetime en route home - including no-show Tiger Tim. Did he ever show up??

Didn't hear any more of the show: Mr Diva had the day off and was cooking up a storm in the kitchen when I got home - sadly accompanied by The Wildhearts (not my cuppa) but I feared he'd lose his mojo if I turned his CD off in favour of the raydeo.

Now enjoying lovely cold bottle of organic suffolk cyder. thinking thoughts.

Ah sunshine. What a lovely day today has been. Realised just now that Mr Jumpingbean has been in his current job a whole year today. Glad I made an effort for dinner :) mmm pork chops with apple sauce, it's the most effort I've made in a long time and he is happy with it too. Just waiting for himself to do the chops as I am terrible at cooking meat. And then, we can eat outside, himself enjoying a bottle of grimbergen (other beers etc etc) whilst we look at and appreciate the bike shed we have finally finished.

Mine had one of her cats put down last weekend so understand as it was 15 yrs old.

One of mine suddenly complained nonstop tonight - has been okay all day and is limping ... will have to keep an eye on him tomorrow or it will be a trip to auntie vets for him and he is really really bad at travelling gets all worked up and stressed even with medication from vets.

We did get a little rain late afternoon Beesmum but internet connection only just up so unable to let you know.

My very best friend in the world doesn't like food. Mr Diva and I once cooked a very elaborate Greek-themed dinner party for the four of us and she said she'd have been happy with a custard cream, and that she only eats to exist. I was soooooo insulted and openly upset as we'd gone to loads to trouble and effort.

The food was good tho!

And she is an 8 stone vegetarian.

CtD - Sorry to hear you are under the weather. Get better soon. You say its funny that the girls are supportive and the men not so...I tend to find its the other way round if a fella is complaining of aches and pains. Bless him for eternity, but poor old Errol gets no sympathy when he is feeling dicky, just a quick 'you ok?' then a barrage of teasing comments. Is it just me?

I suffer from what I call Shaky Sleep. Either from having a nap on the sofa or in bed I can feel my body all a-quiver from the inside. Bones rattling, muscles twitching - only a little bit but enough to make me wake up feeling all disorientated and grumpy and not at all rested. Is that also just me?

On the veggie side, I am not one nor ever will be. I am however very fussy about my meat. Must be free range, and hopefully organic to boot. Also will not eat certain meats in this country due to the way it is raised or if it is considered wildlife. While away though I do as the Romans do (other Ancient Civilisations are available). To date I have eaten Zebra (not bad), Ostrich (same as), Hippo (very nice) and Crocodile (absolutely foul. You know you are eating dinosaur when you eat croc). My latest travels took me to CMOT Dibblar country and I partook in Guinea Pig on a Stick. Tasted like fat and hair. My work colleagues (at the pet shop) were rather unimpressed.

I remember speaking to a young chinese female student when i was a hall warden as she was tearfully telling that the boy she liked (a brit) was mean to hear and kept on teasing her despite the fact she had been very clear that she liked him. I explained (as I am a sociologist) why this was probably happening and sure enough just a week later they were dating (I think they are still together) -

so the message is - hope for teasing...

men just don't do the "oh...you poor thing" - look at how mercilessly we rag our "mates" - it is a safe and manly way of saying..."hey you are my pal!!"

I'm vilified by my horsey friends when I say I love horse meat, and wish that we could buy it in this country. Sorry guys if that offends, but as a nation we eat cows, pigs, wooly baaaa lambs, venison (Bambi!!!), chickens etc etc. Also, veal - can't buy it round here yet Mr Ramsay seems to be promoting it with the JSP item on F Word every week. Also love game, and most offal.

Agree about the quality - very important. Again, our town is not over-run with decent butchers: we used to have 1 but her was outdone by a cheap n cheerful chain butchers opening two shops in town. Have stocked up on meat from Jimmys Farm in the past (other farm shops are available, although not subject to a Ö÷²¥´óÐã tv series!).

He's not cheap in any way but you cannot argue with the quality of the produce nor the knowledge of the "real" butchers serving you.

Very impressed that you tried guinea pig on a stick - please tell me though that's not on the agenda in August!!!

Funny too that all Beef producing is highly regulated and yet Fish just comes out of the sea and frankly could have been swimming anywhere not to mention eating anything.
I noted recently at a well known Fish chain, it clearly states on the Menu in small print at the bottom.
Please note Fish can cause food poisoning.

Today I am mostly eating vegatables.

Aw Cheryl, hope you feel better soon. I only do the teasing thing to men when they're sick - they understand teasing far better than sympathy I find! Hubby does complain if I tease too much but he knows I love 'im really :)

Guinea pig on a stick. That really is CMOT Dibbler isn't it... Am impressed MW,a! I think, when it comes to meat (and if I wasn't preggers) I will try anything once. But, after seeing Sue Perkins' reaction, I will draw the line at snails. Want to try hippo now! Apparently I've tried croc and shark and ostrich, but it was nearly 8 years ago and all I remember was the ostrich because it was really really good.

We got a good butcher. Couple of months ago one of the guys at hubby's work asked the butcher if he could get some squirrel, which he did. Said guy then cooked it in a lemon and wine sauce for the rest of them at work, just to prove you could make anything taste half-decent - apparently it was really good too. Not heard of anyone daring to repeat it though.

And their bacon is the Best. No more supermarket bacon for me, nothankyou...

Funny... I remember as a young girl, the way we made our affections known to the opposite sex was to hit them. I guess we were terrified of the teasing that would come from our peers realising that we fancied somebody... so we hit the boys we liked. How's that for a genius way of getting your man. As far as I can remember, it never worked though. Surprise. Good grief it's hard work growing up.

Ah, yes Phoenix. Don't be too hasty taking cat to vets. I had a cat - Ozzy (so named due to her habit of ripping heads off birds), who used to suffer regularly with cat cystitis. Very painful and quite dangerous if left untreated. She would stoop in the corner and mew pitifully until attention was given and treatment sourced.

One day my mum was packing for her hols and Ozzy was in the room with her. Within minutes she was stooping and mewing and mum stopped packing and fussed her, calming her down and generally being all dotey. Mum was due to leave that day so I was given instruction to sort out the vets. I arranged the appointment for the following day. Once Mum had gone on her trip Ozzy made a miraculous recovery. She was faking it!

She continued to fake her symptoms every time she saw the suitcase come out of the attic and would stop as soon as whoever was going on holiday had gone.

Gosh haven't read any of the books in ages. Got nearly all the DW series on my shelf... and then some... Dad has a bad habit of forgetting which books he's already got, and then buys another one just in case so I inherit quite a few from him! Fave has to be Detritus with his air-cooled helmet and his crossbow-thing.

Haven't seen Colour of Magic :( but always thought of Rincewind as old... well, youngish, but in an old body...

Hows about some kiddy-baking? Make some little fairy cakes or biscuits or gingerbread men with little fella and then spend some time together making a right ole mess decorating the produce of your labours with lary icing and stuff.

I'm sure that when Mr Debbie sees the results of your joint efforts, he'll have one heck of a grin on his fizzog after a long day at work.

I have a sneaky suspicion the clock doc is at work. We have donged 13 times, then 10 times, then 2 times. In the space of 10 minutes...


On another note I have just done the "how smart are you" test currently on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã website, and am incredibly annoyed to have only scored 17 out of 20.

Oh my you lot are so on my wavelength I too am a DW and Pratchett fan having all the books on my bookshelf mostly hardbacks. My favs are Granny Weatherwax and Death such great characters. The witches have been missing in the latest books and I'm hoping that Terry will go back to doing more witchy books as they were brill - I also have some short stories as well and have to agree Carrot and Vimes are brill.

MW,a I did call auntie vets but am just keeping an eye on him as I think he just pulled a muscle as he puts all four paws to the ground ok.

Never fear jumpingbean: I only got 16 out of 20, and I can't blame preggy brain hormones!

Think I'll skip the "maths test" next week - that'd just be too harsh on my ego!!

Will stick to the 10 To Tackle on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Sports pages - usualy get about 8 out of 10 on there!

CtD - it says that page was updated in 2005!!! No wonder it wasn't actually on the current Ö÷²¥´óÐã homepage like I thought it was. I have no idea how to find the Maths test... Anyone who can, you are either smarter than me, or have more patience (enough to trawl through the search results anyway).

Ten past twelve and the clock tower is trying it's utmost again.

I am dying to take that maths test. How sad is that.

Hmmmm 18/20 must have been listening at school - will dip out of the maths though as have dyslexia with numbers, even have a backwards watch.

Ahhhh is the wheat bag doing the trick?

I have a lavender one which you can heat up as well and it is lovely - great for my neck stiffness due to two vertebre fused.

Hmmm - I use excel for formulae and my accounts and my main job is to analyse data and create charts.

19 for me. Mind you, I grew up with a journalist for a father so he will be disappointed that I missed one.

Off to do a spot of shopping now, and to get waxy smooth. Too much information? As always!
