I love the Royal Family. They do a grand job and bring loads of money into the UK economy through tourism every year, so yes, Happy Anniversary Your Maj!

It's cold, grey and icy here with a dusting of snow still obscuring the grass, so it's a slow roast briskett day today with crispy roastie spuds , in approximately 10 hours time. Will I cope with the wait!?!?

Hi Chris: yes, I agree absolutely about the Queen. I think she is an incredible lady - and I love the new photograph of her and Philip, released today. I know they are very privileged and all that, but I wouldn't want their life, not for a single minute. Imagine your servants knowing just how many G&T's you have had of a Friday evening!

From a crisp, grey, icy and slightly foggy North Kent. Bit treacherous under foot but I have my chunky boots on to stop me from slipping.

Couldn't agree more about the Queen, a fantastic lady and long may she reign over us. I love the pomp and circumstance and it makes me very proud to be British. At her age you would have thought she might like to put her feet up, but oh no, she just keeps on going - good for her.

I am attending a funeral tomorrow for a really wonderful woman - the mother of a family friend. She was 91, and mother to 10 children, and grandmother/great-grandmother to about 40. Just an amazing lady, and I would think the funeral will be attended by hundreds. Just thought I would mention this, as she's uppermost in my mind today.

Morning sorry for the absinthe!

Decided to decorate last weekend so been up to me armpits in gloss, filler and wallpaper samples. Got the paper just go to get the bruvver in law to get his butt round mine to do the job (professional desecrater you see).

Anyway been busy at work and normal day to day life too. Hope everyone is okay and happy anniversary Mr and Mrs CSN and of course her Maj! (thats QEII not Madonna obviously) and I apologise if I have missed anything vitally important.

Oh good news is that our dearest friends are back together after the glitch so my weekend turned out to be a nice one with good surprises. The gang is back together huzzah!

Talking of slow cooking I cooked a lamb hotpot yesterday for tea tonight so my house was filled with the smells of lamb and beef, and tonight im in doors has put an order in for beef stew and dumplings tomorrow night so tonight my house will smell of lamb and beef again....

Look afteryourselves out there if you have snow as it is melting and looking slightly slushy out there now and those of you who dont have snow - you lucky beggers......

Awww, d'ya know what Sezza, I was just thinking that (about the cricket). We've got tickets to go to Headingly in August to see England play South Africa. It's a long way to go for a day, but I'm really looking forward to it. And the occassional trips down the road to Worcester when the weather is on our side (we went there last year for a 20/20 gaem, sat in the rain eating our picnic and came home with not a ball bowled, very soggy!).

Chrissie, hope all goes well tomorrow, and remember to celebrate your friends' life rather than mourn her passing.

I'm off on a jaunt myself tomorrow - my nan is 90 tomorrow so I'm heading off back darn to Suffolk for the day (staying overnight with my auntie), seeing family during the day, my very best friend in the universe tomorrow night and another very dear, close friend Wednesday morning before heading back home again.

If I'm honest, I'm absolutely dreading the drive - 3+ hours on my own in not exactly ideal weather conditions, but can't wait to see nan and my lovely friends. I was plotting and planning with very best friends' husband, trying to arrange a meet without her knowledge as a surprise, but the cat's out of the bag now (thanks to a weather induced panic on HER part)! We spoke on the phone this morning and have both agreed that waterproof mascara will be much needed.

CB - good news about your friends - let's hope it was just a glitch.

Hello CE & Everyone.

I like the royal family, without them we would have a president, doesn't bear thinking about. The Queen with the support of Prince Philip is very stable. I feel sure that Wills and Kate will be the same.

I hope that I'll be able to watch The Diamond Queen tonight. My TV went out of order yesterday, I spent ages messing abolut with all the wires and scart leads, retuning and resetting until I gave up. Ö÷²¥´óÐã1 was replaced with gay rabbit. Anyway I switched on today and all was fine. Don't know what that was about.

No slow cooking for me today, it's going to be a microwave meal tonight.

I agree, re: the Queen and the Royal Family, I think they are wonderful for this country.

It was funny on Friday night, I took the dogs a walk and on the way back my friend passed me in the car, I thought that was good as I fancied a chat about the s**t week I had had, what with Minstrel (still missing), David's Mum (admitted to hospital now and not doing well at all), and other things not for here (by the way, thank you for all your lovely messages, they mean so much to me), she stopped the car, said she was knackered as she had had such a busy day, then proceeded to tell me all about it, said "oh well I better go" and drove off, it was really quite funny. Anyway, I made up for it on Saturday night, we were at my best friend from school's daugher's 21st, she was absolutely stunning, I do find it a bit disconcerting when I look at her though, as it's like going back in time, it's like looking at her Mum when she was that age, but we had a lovely time and they are such a fantastic family.

Sezza: that's a lot of snow! But, I am really sorry - I don't want any of it! And, yes, MrsR was an incredible woman - just a great lady and so kind to everyone.

Cheryl: that is a bit of a trip ahead of you - I take it, you did consider going by train? But, I know, it's probably just best that you take the car. I hope you have a lovely time with your friend - you will both be talking like budgies! Thanks - that's a lovely comment about my friend. This really will be a celebration of a life well spent.

Afternoon,

I've just walked from one office to another and the sun is gorgeous and the thaw is setting in. Shame they are threathening freezing conditions tonight though!

I've salted the church car park and swept little pathways for the Quilters to walk along so they don't slip. I'm not sure where it says that in my job description!!

Chrissie, You must get a slow cooker, they are fab. My stew made four meals for me, one to eat yesterday and three to freeze. I must, however, cook more than stews in it! I need to be a bit braver xx

Thanks for the messages about the friends twas a surprise on Friday night when they both walked into the pub, I spoke to her and told her I was glad they were trying to get back on track and he popped round on Saturday morning to help the other half with a job and I heard them talking and hubby was saying some really nice things to his mate about how suited they were and he was glad. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

hey Lostalibaba just had a cracking idea why dont you get someone else to do your minutes there is a very good virtual pa I know of would be able to do it for you, now if I can only remember where I have seen her details before........

Chrissie that is some women you will be paying respect too tomorrow, women like that are the foundations for the rest of us, celebrate and respect her memory and i hope it all goes well.

Deevs - I hope you have a lovely time catching up with everyone and dont dread the drive, I have done it several times on my own and I stick the radio on and spend the whole time singing away to meself and take it easy before I know I am there. I find it very therapuetic actually.

Well I said it was springlike here and the window's open. A sudden fog has descended, it's very chilly and the window's shut.

Just had an envelope pushed through my door. Free Tho*rnt*ns choccies will arrive on my doorstep tomorrow in return for me doing an online survey. Had a quick look. No thank you . They want information which would result in me being harrassed by
endless cold callers. I'll go to Thorn*onS and buy my own choccies thank you very much. I'll then be able to enjoy them without almost choking every time the phone rings.

thanks for all GDs birthday wishes, we had a really lovely time and a sooper dooper afternoon tea. Good plan to take a tupperware box as we didnt come close to starting the "highest plate" on the stand so all the little mini tarts/cakes are in the fridge for later.

MrS and I went to the church this evening for a brief service before the funeral tomorrow. The entire family walked the two miles to the church behind the hearse - it really was so moving and just wonderful. I really hope all this talk of the funeral is not bringing down the blog - I wouldn't want to do that. It's just all in my mind today, and I know you lovely bloggers will understand that.

It's very cold here this morning.

Just to let you know, David's Mum passed away last night, we were just finishing our dinner and getting ready to visit her in hospital when he got a phone call to get to the hospital as soon as possible, so we set of right away, we are about 40 mins drive from her, but we were no sooner away when the phone went and it was one of his brothers to say that she had died, he was annoyed that he wasn't there at the time but at least his 2 sisters and 1 of his brothers were with her.

Thanks folks, She really was a lovely lady who lived life to the full, going multiple holidays a year, doing line dancing and going to the club every week, right up until very recently. When we had all gone back to her house last night we were laughing when recalling visiting her on a Friday night and David and I going home about 9pm as it was our bedtime and she was then going to get ready to go out to the club!

As has been said, really sorry to hear about David's mother.
Even though you knew it was inevitable and indeed imminent, you can never be prepared for it to actually happen.

It sounds as if she was 'a game old girl' who ought to stand as an example to us all.
Live life to the full and make sure that those left behind remember you with laughter, smiles and great memories.
