Who cares?

At 11.39am a press release arrives from the Electoral Commission. They're offering grants of 拢200,000 over two years if you can come up with a winning idea on how to get the message across to 'marginalised groups' that to vote, you've got to register.

At 12.30pm a press release arrives from the South Wales Anarchists urging you to Vote Nobody on May 3rd. The Nobody spokesperson quote a committed Nobody supporter and a first time Nobody non-voter. "Nobody on the ballot represents me and ... Nobody ever will. Nobody cares ..."

Any ideas?

Mind you, there's enough nobodies already in the Assembly - some real people would be appreciated.

So the anarchists' won the 2003 elections!

Voting in the assembly elections is like choosing between Coke and Pepsi - the only difference between any of the major parties is in their packaging.

There's genuinely no choice between the vast majority of candidates - they're all pursuing the same neoliberal agenda with just a bit window-dressing in terms of the differences between them.

People will criticise the Vote Nobody campaign for inciting apathy - that's not the case at all. We're not apathetic. We just prefer to look for the answers to our problems outside of turgid political institutions.

please can you let me know conservative is for the area of st mellons, i am very annoyed that no one wants my vote not one party am member have been down here so i have a vote floating around and noone wants i feel noone is worthy of ity i have moved from north wales i wish i had stayed there i could have voted for mark isherwood who have canvassed in every part of north wales i dont think anyone wan ts to get in at all in aberavon there is a young girl standing for conservative she will get all my childrens and families votes thank you mrs carol lowndes

Our members have been running a campaign leading up to the elections in May based on our manifesto a document detailing the rights people with learning disabilities feel they should expect from the Welsh Assembly. We have successfully held five regional and one national hustings. we have also had a leaflet campaign urging people to register. with 30 - 40 people attending each hustings and on going campaign work people with learning disabilities in Wales seem far more motivated and enthusiast about the election and the assembly than the rest of the population.

As a proletarian, i find myself increasing alienated by the jargonistic terminology of all the major parties. And that includes the Vote Nobody party, who I suspect to be an Anarchist front.
