Im not sure if this is true or not but a farmer said to me he saw a black fox
Im from Paisley, Scotland and im not sure if this is a black fox or a mutated red fox
This fox was spotted on the gleniffer braes near the southwest of foxbar

We have a black fox that comes into our garden most nights in Hockley Essex.

I think; I have seen a black fox a few weeks ago, near where I live approx 8:15 am, whilst i was on my way to work.

I live about 6 miles from where Craig is and had thought I'd seen a melanic Red Fox running through a field. It didn't act or look like a dog.

This was in Late March, 2010, I think.

Not a black fox, but is Chris aware of the 'blue throat' at welney. It's not far up the road from him at pensthorpe and it's a territorial male, singing in front of one of the hides. Can you spare a camera or two???

Last year I saw two black foxes down a country lane very close to my house in Rye East Sussex - not seen them this year but have been walking there less. Ok to contact me for futher info.

I know of three sightings of a black fox this winter, although sadly, it was not me who saw it! Not sure if it is still about, will ask. Amazing encounters with a polecat on two occasions in this last week though ...

I know for a fact that i have seen a black fox, infact twice. I have seen it, not sure if it was the same or not. I was going for a mountain hike with some friends and one ran past me from the rough grassland into a forest where there is a stream, this was about 2 months ago, I went again by myself recently and seen another one was an amazing site this is within the brecon national park area, if you want to know where abouts please email me and ill get you the exact whereabouts of them

We have a black fox here in Turners Hill, West Sussex. Usually comes around at dusk for scraps or take an unwitting pheasant or duck.

Saturday I was driving with my wife between Ongar and Brentwood (Essex).
Both of us saw a black fox crossing the road about 50 metres ahead. Very dark with a white tip on his tail. This area has quite a large fox population and we see foxes all year round from young cubs to bad condition mangey specimens. I am 99% certain this was a big healthy black fox!

Hi, I have just been able to contact your website. About 15mins before the end of your show tonight I had just returned from dropping my parents home who had been spending the afternoon with us, when on my way back a black fox ran in front of me on the Knowbury road from Clee Hill in Shropshire. I was telling my wife about what I had seen and 5 mins later you were asking if anyone had seen a sighting of a black fox. Very spooky. I haven't got any photo proof as I was driving at the time, and it was very quick into the hedgerow at the side of the road within seconds.Hope this is of interest to you.

A black fox has been seen where we go walking our dogs on more than 1 occasion by more than 1 person, the most recent sighting was on the 15/05/2010 @ 10.00am. I know i have not put the location but another keen springwatcher advised me not to log it on the site. Simon please feel free to e-mail me and i will let you know the location.

A Black Fox has recently been seen and reported at Moore Nature Reserve near Warrington, Cheshire.

We've, on occasion, had black fox cubs born to a red fox in our garden in Surrey. (I've uploaded video footage from three years ago of one of the black cubs to the Springwatch video section.) This year she has had two red cubs, but there has been a sighting by a couple of our neighbours of an adult black fox this year.
Don't know if this is true, but I think they are called Silver Foxes, as their coat turns silvery-grey with age. They were bred many years ago for their fur.

my father was asked to cull the foxes on an estate in sothern england many years ago the year "sir winston churchill" died my memory not so good as to remember the year ,sadly and to his amazement one was completely black so much so he thought it was a dog at first he had it sent to a taxidermist in london and it is still preserved in perfect condition i have knowledge of the woodland it was found

Seen a black fox 3 times in the last 2 weeks near home on north cornish coast. Dear of him

About 2 weeks ago a fox ran out right in front of me when I was taking my dog for a walk over the fields at the back of the house, in Wellington, Somerset. It was bigger than a normal fox and a really dark brown colour - not red at all. It was definately a fox though as it ran right out in front of me so I saw it really well. Don't know if this was a black fox or not as I didnt know that they existed!

Driving south on the M5 last Friday morning at approximately 4.30am, I noticed a pair of foxes about 100m from the motorway. One was the usual red in colour but following it was a very dark coloured fox (dare I say "nearly black"). They seemed to be stalking a group of crows/jackdaws foraging in a field, but having been spotted by the birds, they were trotting across the open field. As I was mobile, I could only keep them in sight for a few seconds.

John I have seen what appeared to be a black fox on several occasions at Furze Hill Leicestershire but for the past couple of months havent seen a fox of any discription. The Black fox may have been a red fox but definitely had more black than red.

I was bird watching along the sea wall at Goldhanger in Essex in 1991 on Christmas day. I was using a telescope and had a clear view of a black fox with what appeared to be silver guard hairs rummaging in the undergrowth. I was quite a long way from me and upwind, he appears to be about the same height as a dog fox but much fatter and stockier, possibly just his coat. It was a magical moment, even better than the pair of short eared owls I saw on the same day.

Hello, I am contacting you regarding the request for sightings of a black fox. We have a black fox which visits our garden and grounds on what we think must be a nightly basis. We put food out on a regular basis for foxes and badgers and this fox is one of a few that visit. This fox is absolutely jet black all over with a pale cream tip to its tail. I have a few photographs of it plus a video, all of which were taken earlier in the year and at night, but I could try to take some of it now that he or she is sometimes sighted before night has fallen. We have a black fox that has visited our garden in Pyrford Surrey for the past two years. He is actually a very dark charcoal grey with a black face and a white tip at the end of his tail. He often sleeps in a sunny spot at the bottom of the garden and we saw him just a couple of days ago with another 'normal' coloured fox.

A couple of years ago while walking the dog near Kirby Hall, Corby, we saw a strange creature, it was black, and slinked slowly through the long grass. It didnt seem at all frightened by our presence. At first I thought it was a small panther like creature, as it did have a very long tail, like a panther. We both saw it, and both had no idea what it was. Was this a black fox?

I saw a black fox this afternoon while out walking near Chatham Kent. It was only visable for a few seconds but was clearly a fox. It had some patches of red/white.

About 55 years ago, when I lived in deepest Sussex on a farm where my father was a herdsman (smashing childhood, with free run of the farm and surrounding countryside), the owner of this rather enormous farm invited the local hunt to meet there. Being a horse mad child I was around and about the farm watching the hunt meet and the activity afterwards. It was a bright sunny day, and I remember looking across to one of the big fields when I saw a fox running across it. The hunt didn't seem to anywhere near, but I was struck by its colour. It certainly wasn't red! I always said afterwards it was a dark grey, but nobody seemed to believe what I told them. Ever since, people have looked puzzled when I've spoken about it, because to them, foxes are always red.

The good thing is, that ever since that day I have been against fox hunting, because even at that young age, I realised what would happen to this creature if the hunt ever caught it.

So, yes, I have seen what you call a "black" fox - but to me this one was dark grey. I would love to see one again.

Haven't seen a black fox, ive recently seen a black squirrel in Bristol. Totally unexpected!

There is a particular fox run across a certain 'A' road close by to where I live in Devon . I can show you exactly where if your interested. When I have seen them before it is as I drive to work though there may be more than one run across the same road in the location. I have occasionally seen foxes run across , usually early in the morning. There are high devon stone walls on each side of the road so the foxes leap down one side,run across the road and then leap up the other side. It seems only by luck that they do not get run over as the traffic tends to be really fast here but there again so are they. By coincidence your request about black foxes made me sit up because only three days ago unusually at 5pm I was traveling the other way home after work as to when I usually see them, and this was in bright sunlight as the weather was hot. Its a long a fast straight stretch of road and luckily for that time of day the fox chose to cross the road where there was a break in traffic. Because of the straightness of the road and the fox was head on I got a really good look at it and watched it appear from one side,cross and out the other. What amazed me was that the fox was very dark, black headed in particular and I would say a little larger than usual, probably male though I am no expert but have seen many foxes in my time and seemed a little larger than usual. It seemed to have longer hair but maybe it was just the effect of running, because it looked strange and very dark/black to me I looked even harder because I was not sure it was a fox at first, it looked more like a malfunctioned Alsatian. Almost a cross between fox and wolf but thats probably a little too weird but it happened in a few seconds. As it ran across the road and leapt up the other side I could see it clearly was a fox by its facial features,pointy nose and those distinct kind of pointy paws. The foxy way it moves and there was a red tinge to its hair in places as it caught the direct sunlight unlike any dog. Un fortunately because I was driving and the banked sides of the road I cant say where it came from or where it went once off the road ,only where it crossed which is a common run for foxes. Of course I don't have any pictures of it but I will keep a special eye open for it driving through. This is the only time I saw a black one. Joe

We have seen a black fox several times whilst taking our dog for a walk down the lane opposite where we live. It is quite large and we assume that it is a dog fox. We first saw it when we had the snow in January and it was most definatley very dark grey / black. We have seen it several times since always in the same area.

Red foxes can be quite grey, as this picture my son took in Glasgow shows . There are several other similar foxes pictured in the flickr all animals photo group. I think the chubby, very uniformly dark fox you showed on Springwatch is not the same species, however, but an arctic fox, perhaps the blue colour morph, which goes chocolate brown in summer (see David Macdonald's book Running with the Fox, p. 148, "What Colour are Red Foxes?"). Could it or its ancestors have escaped from a zoo?

Hiya, I saw a black fox in September last year, it was huge and had white tips on his ears. It ran out in front of my car and then disappeared into the bushes so didnt get chance to take a photo. I checked the internet and emailed specialists as I couldnt believe what I had seen, but unfortunately never heard anything back. I live in Lincolnshire

I work night shifts and saw a black fox running along the side of the road opposite where I work, around 2.30 - 3am. This was in Portsmouth city centre (believe it or not). While I see a lot of urban foxes throughout the night, this one was definitely black. It was on the 9th of January when there was a lot of old snow around, and the fox stood out very clearly against the white backgound running along towards Victoria Park. My colleague also saw it, and reckons there is a black fox - albeit an urban one, in Portsmouth.

I have been researching possible sightings of a black fox in Scotland for the past 18 months - with no luck. If someone has real evidence of a melanistic black fox in the north I would like to hear from them - they are very rare but if they occur south of the border I'm sure they can also be found up here. It would help my own research a great deal if this could be confirmed.
Unfortunately the only reliable identification of a rare black fox usually comes when its been found dead ie the Lancashire fox. Gamekeepers/sportsmen perhaps the best bet.

I have recently seen what I believe was a "Black Fox" I have an allotment nearby, and the Fox has been regularly resting in the sun just the other side of my allotment fence, by the railway. This surprised me a little as there is a fox lair very close to the resting spot inside the allotments. I've seen it cross the railway early morning, but not for the last few days.

Last August we were returning home along a country lane near our house close to Wells in Somerset and turned a corner to see what looked like a fox in the lane, but it was black! I didnt know they existed so got home and looked them up on the net. It was most definately a fox and very dark black. It looked up at the car for a few moments then ran into the hedge bottom. We have seen red foxes during the day quite a few times, even trotting quite happily down the lane past the house in broad daylight, but we never saw the black fox again. It was late afternoon and the road is hardly used as we are the only house along it. I informed the Somerset Wildlife Trust of my finding.

Further to my blog last night (10.28) I have photos of the black fox but for some reason cannot get onto the photo section of the website. Please contact me by email if you would like to see them - they clearly show his colouring, dark charcoal body, black face and white tip at the end of his tail. By the way I see someone else in Woking (Pyrford is on the edge of Woking) also reports seeing a black fox - possibly the same one? We see him quite regularly - every couple of days.

I had never heard of black foxes before last night's Springwatch and then this morning as I was driving to work an extremely dark fox (?black) ran across the road in front of me! I take the point about not revealing the exact location, but it was in East central Scotland. Sadly could not take a picture.

Whilst taking his regular morning walk, my husband spotted a black fox. Not sure that such an animal existed, he thought that his eyes where playing tricks, or maybe a shadow was cast over the fox. This was seen in Salfords, Surrey.

Two weeks ago while walking my dogs on our meadow in the evening I saw what looked like a fox but wasn't sure as the coat was black.Wish I had been as the next day 7 of our chickens who wander around in our meadow were dead! 7 piles of feathers! We have kept them in for two weeks but they are now out again!!!First time we have ever seen a black fox around here.

Not a black fox but my wife spotted a white (albino?) fox in Selly Oak Birmingham last weekend.

black squirrels are plentiful all over most of the country. Lots of nearly black pheasants in Devon.

I had no idea that black foxes were rare, I just thought they were melanistic like the occasional pheasant you see, and that it happens now and again. I have seen a couple over the years.
- The first was a jet black cub (which I initially thought was a puppy till he joined his red brothers and sisters.(Time: About 15 yrs ago. Place: Newick, East Sussex. Habitat: Very rural, common/woodland.

- The second was an adult, a small wiry vixen. (Time: About 6 years ago. Place: Isfield, East Sussex. Habitat: Very rural, pasture field.

The villages of Newick & Isfield are only 2 miles apart. From the other blogs, there are a few in Sussex (Ringmer and Rye etc.)

Not this Monday (31st) but last Monday 24.5.10, I saw a jet black Squirrel early in the morning driving to work. Apparently they have a mutant Melanin gene. Eeek, are mutant black Ninja squirrels invading our village?

I saw a black fox about 3 weeks ago - living in an area that is used by members of the public very regularly. It stopped to look at me and I stopped to look at it - could hardly believe my eyes!

I think I saw a black fox cub on Margam Mountain (map ref SS 828 900), south wales, over the weekend.

I was riding with others and saw what I am sure was a fox cub by the side of the fire road, only it was black. It ran and jumped into the trees beside the forest road.

Others in the group said they thought it was a wild cat, but I doubt this, it was the wrong shape for a cat.

I regularly see foxes and cubs when riding, so am fairly familiar with them, it looked like a black fox cub.

We think we saw a black fox whilst out walking on Saturday 29/5/10. We saw what we thought was a black dog ahead of us, we couldn't spot an owner with it and as it walked away from where we were going it had a definite thick fox tail, and walked like a fox. It was a lot darker colour than a normal fox. It continued away from the village, onto derelict land.

I saw a black fox about at about 7 am 2 weeks ago at the mouth of the river doon in Ayr. It appeared to be fully grown and quite at home in the largely urban environment.

(With apologies for going slightly off-thread but .......) I keep seeing a small black rabbit during the drive to my local village (in central Scotland). Are there wild black rabbits? Or will someone have lost a pet?

I live in a small village outside of Dorchester in Dorset, and my husband and i were out for a walk, easter weekend along local country lanes when we both saw a fox run across a field into some woods, we were both surprised as it was black, we mentioned it to a neighbour and he said it probably mated with a domestic dog,then we saw your show last evening and realised it was a Black fox that we had seen.

i saw a black fox today at about 3.45pm as i was driving towards weymouth, just about to pass monkey world in dorset...it looked like a full size adult, and it just ran across the road about 20 metres in front of the car.....i didn't even know they existed til i saw the programme last night

4 days ago i spotted a black fox as i opened my blinds at around 06.30, it trotted past my window in the middle of the road,been up at the same time the last few mornings armed with camera but nothing so far, of coarse not ive got camera, oh i live in bournemouth near a golf course were theres always a lot of fox activity.

OK thought it was a very wet fox as it was tipping down. Trouble is can't remember if it was Sat or Sun but both days wet. After seeing programme last night I think it was a very wet fox with a white tip to the tail or a black fox. Lincolnshire wolds near LN11 8QP

Travelling to work last week, at 05.00 in the morning a 'dark chocolate, sooty' coloured fox jumped out in front of me. Grabbed a dead pheasant of the road and jumped back into the hedge.
This was near Clun in Shropshire.
I've never seen or heard of a 'black' fox before, although have heard of story's of white ones. I had been thinking it was some sort of fox cross !!, but this now answers my question.

I was out walking my dog in a local coppice near home in South Shropshire when I heard twigs snapping and spotted what I thought was a fox, but black in colour, about 30 metres away. Then I watched your programme and realised that such an animal existed! It was late morning on 28 May, and it ran through dappled sunlight and then disappeared.

I live in Coney Weston (North Suffolk) and had the dubious pleasure of having a running battle with a large dog fox who had serious designs on my chooks. I think he took about 3 or 4 before he disappeared in mid January this year. I managed to get within about 25 metres at one point. I was unable to get a clear shot!! (literally)
He was big. About the size of an Alsatian dog. Because it had been raining, he appeared to be black with a white tip to his tail. On other occasions he appeared to be dark grey. At one point in January he was running with a pretty (traditional coloured) little vixen.
I thought at the time that it was a European fox which I think is grey or am I wrong?
Unfortunately misguided urbanites round up foxes in towns and instead of humanely culling them, they load 'em into the back of a van and deposit 'em on a nearby heath. (The country air will do them good!!!) My fellow villagers have had enough of foxes who kill their chickens or pheasants, turn over their bins, and bring their own unknown diseases to the local populace.

Hi Simon, this is not about a black fox but the sighting of 3 black throated divers while i was on a fishing trip in scotland on Loch Awe from the 24th may to the 28th may, i spotted one bird in the evening of the 24th in a shallow bay moving along and diving at intervals, the day after i spotted another 2 birds together making rather a commotion splashing with there wings and diving under and making a barking sound which i fist though was a dog. This is the first time i've seen these birds in the wild so was quite excited, 2 days later fishing 10 miles further down the loch i saw another one, this bird was constently on the move diving down and re appearing some distance away.
Also on this trip was spotted Osprey, Sparrow Hawk, Jay, Hooded Crow, Ring Plover, so not bad for a few days fishing.

I actually have seen a black fox in Cults in Aberdeen in Scotland, I was driving and cutting down a backroad where there is alot of farm land, and this fox ran out in front of my car ( a good for hunderd yards from me, i'm glad to say) at first i can sure it must have been a red fox cover in mud but when i saw your footage on the black fox the other night i was shocked and onto my phone to my folks to say thats the same kind of fox i saw only a few weeks ago on Jacob's ladder. We do have red foxs in the area but this fox was slighty smaller then a red. which is one of the reasons it stuck with me as being slighy odd.

I live in the Blacdown Hills in Somerset. A few weeks ago I was driving down my track on my way to work when a fox walked out in front of me, stood broadside and then walked off into the opposite hedgerow. My initial thoughts were 'oh a fox my chickens are out' but a split second later I found myself puzzling over the beast. It was obviously a fox but the colour was all wrong - a very dark almost rich black colour. I told a few people about what I saw and they just said that it must have been a dark morning. The fox actually stood in front of me so I know what I saw. I was interested in what Simon had to say on his programme, cannot wait to hear more.

By co-incidence my wife and I spotted a pair of foxes - 1 black, 1 red - a couple of days ago. It was around 1730 on farmland just outside our village in SE Cornwall. I was actually unaware that black foxes existed and thought that it might be a dog/fox cross. Thorough Googling convinced me that this was extremely unlikely. We will spend the next few evenings trying to capture some images.

Hi Simon, sorry cant help with a black fox, but do know of a group of black rabbits. They have recently had babies and have a mixed group of kits, some black and some normal wild bunny colour. As i live very close to where you are at Mordon Bog, you could easily go to where the bunnies live. Could meet you there to show you exactly where they live. I expect the black original one was an abandoned pet or escapee, but obviously doing ok.

I saw what I thought was a black/dark grey fox in th lane behind my house in Bedfordfordshire. My friends told they didn't exist but I'm really sure that is what i saw.

I saw a black fox cross the road in front of my car in mid April on the B5106 between north of Tal Y Bont, Conwy Valley approx grid reference 77007100. There are known to be black foxes in the area - I saw one about 3 years ago at 74606860 south of Pen Y Gaer ancient hill fort and a local small holder is known to have shot one about 2 years ago. The one I saw on the road in April was heading east to west in the direction of my sighting 3 years ago - it was a large fox, with a very dark brown coat and a large white tip on its tail. They are definitely in the area.

Hi Simon, I saw a melanistic adult fox (it appeared completely black) and two red cubs in the Bristol region on Saturday 22 May 2010.
I stumbled across this article when trying to find out how common this was....unfortunately they were gone too quickly for me to get the camera out to photograph them.

Sorry, no Black Fox sighting for you, but I thought you might be interested to know about a few sightings that I have had over the years!(out of hundreds)
One, was the largest Fox Iv'e seen by far, and was almost completely silver!
The other one I first thought was a dog, as it had no fur at all apart from on the tips of it's ears, no scabs from Mange which was strange, just plain, smooth, dark grey skin! very bisar!!
I have seen a few very dark Foxes, but not recently or completely black.

I saw and photographed a Silver/Grey/Black Fox fighting for territory with another Fox earlier in the year in South Wales.

Last year and this year I have had a very odd looking fox coming into my garden. It is very dark, with stocky hindquarters (like a bear) and it takes all the food that I leave out. I have taken photographs and everyone that sees them cannot believe that it is a fox. A fortnight ago two foxes came into my garden together, but that was a first. I live in the country and am surrounded by fields with neighbouring woods.

i have just spotted a black fox, it ran straight out in front of me in a suburban area. It ran out on a main road, in doncaster, south yorkshire.the fox must live amongst surbuban habitat because there was nothing around when it ran out.. and it ran into a garden across the road.

Thanx Springwatch! About 30yrs ago I saw what I took to be a very large, wild black cat carrying a rabbit on a footpath in Corfe Mullen,Dorset. Now I know what it was. At about the same time on a different path I saw an adderlike snake, but it was thicker than my arm and approx 2metres long. Please tell me what it was?

I live in Spaldington east Yorkshire and my dad saw a black fox last year but I have only seen red foxes and I think I know were there could be a den.

Don't know of any black foxes but took photos recently of an almost black green woodpecker!

Having recently formed Mickleover Meadows in Derbyshire, this gives dog walkers an area to runtheir animals freely. Last year I saw something come out of the hedge in the middle of the day. I had to look twice because it was almost black but had the characteristic fox's tail. Later that year my dog went into the undergrowth and out came the same black fox running hell for leather with my dog in tow. Have not seen it this year.

i work early mornings and i have regularly seen a black fox in maldon along butt lane and the downs cut through which is along butt lane there most mornings with a normal fox look of a similar age and are both very thin hope this helps as i was very pleased to see this fox as i know they are very rare

A large very dark dog fox is a regular visitor to the field next to the house with his normal coloured vixen who has a very white tip to her tail.

Also an albino squirrel has been a visitor

I saw a black fox a few months ago on the outskirts of Edinburgh. I can even tell you where the den is if you want to contact me by email.

I have a very dark coloured fox living about 50 yds from my home I see her daily both in daylight and at dusk. Not quite sure if she is black or just very dark although early one morning I was within 15 yards of her, after she had tried her luck(unsucessfully) at snatching one of my geese, and she appeared to be black and I had to look twice to make sure she was a fox. At the time I just put it down to maybe she was wet. But myself and a friend saw her at 11.30am today and we both agreed she is definately not a normal fox colour. I would be more than happy to show you where she is. I am sure she is female due to her size and have seen her with two normal red fox cubs.

I saw a black fox on Rimrose valley(Netherton/Litherland) about two years ago, not like the one on tonights show, it still had its white markings.

I would agree with Autumn15 (comment no 2) and urge people to NOT PROVIDE DETAILS OF THE LOCATION. We watched a litter of foxes coming out and exploring a couple of years ago on my parents' friends' land nr Chorley in Lancashire, one of which was a black fox. This was a large area of private land although crossed by public footpaths. We felt very privilaged to see this and tried to research the origins of the fox. We knew that the fox cub could be vulnerable to those undesirable characters living in the nearby villages so we kept it very quiet for a long time. The fox cub was much less wary than its siblings and was not disturbed by our presence so we could actually get quite close. It used to spend most of its time grubbing around for insects and worms and was less interested in play fighting with its siblings. Needless to say a passing member of the public using the footpaths saw it and reported it to the local press. We were astonished to see the Ö÷²¥´óÐã NorthWest news supposedly reporting from a secret location but with a well-known chapel at the head of the land in the immediate background. The next day the fox was missing and the next week had been reported in the local paper as dead although the body was never seen.....

I saw a black fox on Saturday 29th 2010 at about 6am in Belmesthorpe, near Stamford Lincolnshire. 2 foxes ran out of a little wooded area messing around the black one was much smaller than the other & at first I figured it was a fox and a dog but it was actually a fox. They darted back into the copse when they saw my car.

my grandad lives in horsmonden kent and has seen on a number of occasions while walking his dog a fox with a black body, red legs, head and tail, but a definate black body.

I saw a Black/Dark Grey mottled looking fox with another red fox running across the road in a rural area in Oxfordshire on Thursday last week, about 9.15pm having never seen anything like it before I came home puzzled and told my partner I'd seen something strange that was the size of a fox, but black! Reassuring to know i'm not completly mad and interesting to see this feature on Springwatch.

Hi funny thing is i only asked my husband a couple of weeks ago if there are black foxes, as i had seen what i thought was a black fox, run across the road when i was out a couple of days before,i live near great yarmouth

I saw a black fox on wednesday 26th may 2010 at 0740 in jenkinstown dundalk co. louth republic of ireland. it was a very clear sighting and i am looking every day for a repeat performance.

My dad and I have both seen black foxes in the past 4 months on 2 seperate occasions, at locations 6miles apart, just outside of a major town in Devon. My dad saw his on Feb 12th, it was extremely black and most certainly a dog fox and he managed to call it within 2 yards of him. I saw mine 2 weeks ago stood on the other side of the hedge which surrounds our chicken run!! It was not as black as the one my dad saw but it was very big.
