The weather’s turned and it’s been getting decidedly frostier in the as the snaps of snow and ice flutter in.

Over 34,000 pictures have been added to the Autumnwatch group this year. Today we started the in which you can share your winter wildlife pics from December to February inclusive.

As we move groups we wanted to celebrate the shift from autumn to winter by showcasing some of your very best shots from the turn of the season.

If you’ve got berries left on your bushes keep an eye out for hungry visitors. We like the way the colours of this fieldfare are mirrored in the background.

Winter is mating season for many of our ducks so despite the drearier weather they’re out in their best winter wear. We liked the framing of these mandarin ducks showing off their unique, vibrant plumage.

Now that the trees have lost their leaves, nests and branches have been laid bare. We like the light in this image highlighting autumnal colours through winter silhouettes.

An action shot with atmosphere. Simple subject stunningly captured.

We've been fascinated by fungi throughout the autumn. This interesting capture of a frozen mushroom depicts autumn giving way to winter.

Tough times bring some of our predators out into the open to hunt. We love this glimpse of a glossy hunter after the kill.

We chose this beautiful shot for its picturesque composition capturing a splash of colour in this monotonous weather.

A fantastic find, we love this delicate and beautifully geometric capture. Wildlife meets weather at its best.

White on white, swans in the snow make for ethereal photography; we'd like to have seen the wing and footprints left by this individual. A crisp capture beautifully lit.

We adore this abstract portrayal of a chaotic spectacle. It gives a great sense of the energy in the moment.
