Martin announced the winner and runner-up of Britain's barmiest nests on the last show of the series (see the video below). But what about the rest of the ones you told us about (on the blog, on and on )? Some of them are too good not to mention, so we've picked out the best of the rest.

Unusual place to nest by Mr.Jingles

"This blackbird has decided to build its nest on top of a patio gas cylinder in a busy merchant's yard. She is sitting on four eggs and I am intending to follow their hopefully successful development."

Blue Tits nesting in toilet sign! by David Barnes

"These 3 fledglings were almost ready to go and had gone the next morning. Taken at Priory Country Park in Bedford."

It wasn't just photos of barmy nests we received. Amongst the many, many stories were these two gems from our (thanks to Clare 'cakey' Harris and Kevin Berrill respectively:

I pegged a double bed sheet out to dry in the morning and and when I went to fetch it in on the night there was a wren nesting in it.

While on holiday in the Isle of Wight we went to the Isle of Wight Zoo and there just outside the lioness enclosure in one of the fence posts is a family of blue tits. We hope they go the right side of the wire when they fledge!
