Talk about a teaser - no feet in the frame so how can we comment on the footwork LOL the top half looks quite good.

Where are they? ..and is that a roll out floor? lol. I have high hopes for Mr Baker, and check out Aliona's footwear! Love this clip!

Matt said aliona would have to go on location for countryfile with him hence the wellies and the roll out floor I think.

She sounds like she means business though.

Based on that I reckon Matt is going to do a Gethin and be technically good but a bit reluctant to let go for a few weeks and then have it all come out in one dance and we'll all realise, "Actually, he's really good!"

    Aliona's adorable.

  • Comment number 6.

She may be adorable but she is not a good choreographer !

We may find out where they are on country file tomorrow

The footwork wasn't shown. How strange, considering it's a dance training video.

However, his hands and upper body look great. A lot of potential with these two.

I think Matt Baker will be good, lovely arms
in this clip.I hope Aliona will prove the
    critics wrong this year.

@monkeeshoes And you can tell that from this clip?

If you're holding a grudge from her performance last year, get over it! This is a new series, and she could have matured a lot in a year, especially working with Matt Cutler to choreograph some numbers on the pro tour - they did a fabulous jive that definitely had her input on it.

    Give her a chance!

I defo think Aliona and Matt will turn out to be a great couple. I do agree that Aliona was not the best at choreographing last year, but I think that was because she wasn't used to the 'strictly style',she needed to learn adn get into the swing of things, and I'm sure she will be great this year! She wouldn't have been given a partner with so much potential if she couldn't deliver. I already can't wait to see their jive! I have a feeling its gonna be a corker.

I agree with monkeeshoes - last year it was all about her - poor Rav didn't stand a chance. The judges even informed that it wasn't her show case and she should work with her partner. I hope she takes that on board this year otherwise it could mean an early departure for Matt who looks like he has a chance of going far.

Aliona, try to get a guy dancer to work with him for a little bit if you can - especially on his arms - they do not look natural at all, and are making him look like he's trying to be a girl dancer - he is trying to copy your arms too much, and doesn't reallise that copying your arms won't work for him.
Matt, get the footwork right and the hips won't feel so wrong. They look okay to be honest at the mo, but it will be easier for you. Good physique, upright stance and not too shabby headline, but don't over extend - it's supposed to look natural, even though I know it feels really foreign to you at the moment.
Best of luck for your first show.

Absolutely fantastic first dance. The graceful arms were brill and I loved the gymnastics! Go Matt & Aliona xx

  • Comment number 16.

You have had a wonderful start to the competition, especially loved the choreography - how much input did Matt have into this and who choses the music for your dances? will it always be Aliona?

  • Comment number 17.

Fun and fast footwork from you Matt, great job with the steps Aliona. Looking forward to seeing more of you this year. Hope the ballroom is as good as your latin, which one do you prefer Matt?
