Showing just how popular Strictly Come Dancing had now become, the fourth series (broadcast in Autumn 2006) featured 14 celebrity couples. Early departures from the dancefloor included newsreader Nicholas Owen, singer Mica Paris, and comic Jimmy Tarbuck (on medical advice).

Many fans were surprised when promising performer DJ Spoony went out early, to be followed in quick succession by celebs such as impressionist Jan Ravens, footballer Peter Schmeichel and Emmerdale star Claire King.

In the end, the final three celebs battling for the title were Spice Girl Emma Bunton, rugby star Matt Dawson, and the eventual winner cricket star Mark Ramprakash (with pro partner Karen Hardy).

This was a very small taster. Please show much more.

I think Mark & Karen are probably my favourite ever Strictly winners!! From the moment they first danced together the chemistry was undeniable and they just looked so right together! Also, the music and choreography choices made by Karen were just inspired (especially "Hot Hot Hot" for the Salsa and the fantastic "Goldeneye" for their Argentine Tango!!). In fact, thanks to Karen I too have used "Goldeneye" for a tap dance routine I choreographed for an exam a few years ago (and I'd never have even thought of using it before hearing it on Strictly!!). Mark & Karen... YOU ROCK!!!!

Brilliant memories. These two are my favourite couple of all the series'. It would have been nice to see a longer clip.

Series 4 was the year I got hooked to Strictly. I have fond memories of Ramps & Karen and of Louisa & Vincent.

We're limited to more or less 1 minute with the clips that we put up, I'm afraid - tedious copyright reasons. Sorry!

Absolutely brilliant! I love these two, especially the way Karen appears to genuinely enjoy every minute of dancing with ramps.
Their salsa is a strictly classic.

Don't forget the samba, that was awesome too!

Mark & Karen's Argentine tango is absolutely my favourite dance ever on Strictly and, according to It's Takes Two last year, not just mine. I appreciate the copyright issues on the website, but can't you get Claudia to show the whole thing on her show this year? I was really disappointed that she didn't last year, even when it won the poll. I'd so love to see it again!

Karen will always be my favourite pro dancer, she is just so enthusiastic and is a brilliant choreographer. Bring her back on the show!

Watched Karen on It Takes Two tonight. Not only was she the most talented dancer Strictly ever had, she also demonstrates depth of knowledge, and explains everything to us laymen in simple terms without being patronising. I am at a complete loss to understand why she was never offered a role as judge. Aleesha is sweet, but I never take her comments seriously, as she has never been a professional dancer and is not in a position to pass judgement.
