Michelle's hurt ankle - will she be able to dance on Saturday?

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Eurovision Paul Ö÷²¥´óÐã Eurovision Paul | 16:43 UK time, Wednesday, 27 October 2010

Hey everyone - some worrying news has come through from Team Brechelle. Although Brendan has returned safely from New Zealand, Michelle Williams has damaged her ankle. Here's some information direct from the Strictly Press Office:

Michelle went to see the physio on Tuesday, after taking a small tumble in the training room. She had thought it was nothing when it happened, but then her ankle had begun swell during the night, so she thought she ought to get it checked out.

The physio started by prodding Michelle’s ankle and telling her that he had to rule out a broken bone, so sent her to have an x-ray. When the results came back, his opinion was that it was ligament damage. He has ordered her not to train until Thursday, and to have regular phsyio. However, he believes it is still touch and go as to whether she will be able to dance on Saturday – the next 48 hours are critical, he says.

We're keeping our fingers firmly crossed that Michelle will be fit and ready to dance for our Halloween Special this coming weekend - we'll keep you updated with all the very latest news as soon as we can.

UPDATE (Friday morning): We're delighted toÌýconfirm thatÌý(barring any last-minute medicalÌýadvice to the contrary), Michelle Williams WILL be dancing in this Saturday'sÌýStrictly Come Dancing. Hurrah!Ìý

Fingers crossed Michelle can continue to take part. It does seem to be one set back afer another for her. Must be very disconcerting.

i hope michelle gets better soon and hope she and brenden can continue on saturday or the week after.

Sending well wishes to the lovely Michelle, hope she gets well soon and is able to dance!

Michelle, I know that I suggested that you should find a way to get the fans on your side but I did not mean that you should put yourself into ER.
Seriously though I hope that it gets better soon. But will you be given the option to have a week off and then return as Tina did? It seems only fair as it appears to be a minor injury which should mend within a few days.
Good Luck and I hope that you will be able to Keeeep Dancing!!!

Here Here. !! Not the best dancer in the world but should NOT have been in the bottom two last week. C'mon you fair minded UK viewers.....try not to vote for the obvious (even to the untrained eye) weeker dancers although , they are more often than not ,lovely people.

Hope Michelle is able to dance this week, and agree she should'nt have been in the bottom two last week. It just seems that she has'nt got the public's vote, which is a shame.

Sorry to hear about Michelle's miss fortune as she wass just begining to get better and starting to relax when she danced. Hopefully she will be able to preform on Saturday with Brendan as another set back like this may knock her confidence and she may fall back rather than improve which would be a shame.

    Shades of Jade Johnston.

The last two weeks has seen Matt, Pamela and Scccooootttt in the top 3 positions, Gavin and Ann the bottom 2 of those still competing in the show, and inbetween is the rest. Of that middle group sadly Michelle has been at the bottom of it.

But I believe a big part of it has been Craig. He has given her two 5's. One in week 1 and the last in week 3. He has only given her a 6 twice. Len, Alesha and Bruno have all given her a mix of 6's and 7's. Though I think an 8 is well overdue. Had Craig not given her the two 5's and been more like Len, Alesha or Bruno in the scoring she would have been higher. Especially the week 3 mark of 5. A 6 would have lifted her three places to equal 6th in the leaderboard with Peter Shilton and a 7 would have seen her up three places as the only one 6th. Moving Peter down to 7th.

She has enormous potential that Craig cannot see.

Sorry to hear that Michelle is injured. She did not belong in the bottem 2 last week. She's doing better every week. Hope the uk voters will see her potential. Michelle i'd vote for you but i don't live in the UK so i can't.

I am sorry to hear Michelle has an injury but frankly NOT dancing the jive this week will be the only thing that saves her I think.

  • Comment number 11.

Perhaps Michelle would be advised to have a word with Ali Bastion.

  • Comment number 12.

@ Strictlywentwobbling. We don't know if she isn't competing, do we? I must say I am not confident it is looking good for her given the nature of her injury and the time between now and Saturday's show.

  • Comment number 13.

With the best will in the world I can't see how Michelle is overdue an 8, SCDFanatic

A cynic would say this is the best chance she has of staying in.No I'm not a cynic

Very witty comment about Michelle, however she has been visibly improving and it would be a pity if there were not an opportunity for her to show her true mettle.
'Blog unto others as you would have others blog unto you'.
Besides which Brendan must be feeling awful with Jet Lag and a poorly partner!
Good Luck Michelle, remember to use the Magic Sponge if necessary.
    Keeeep Dancing!!!

I note last night on It Takes Two that Ian said he reckoned Pamela has had some former dance training. Did anyone else pick up on his comment?

    MissBeverley (16)

Yes Ian was very complimentary about Pamela's ability to adapt her style and not surprising when you think that she left New Zealand to attend the University of New South Wales and then Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art.
However Pamela Graduated in 1971 and worked in various productions until she arrived in London in 1976.
Whilst Pamela may have done some hoofing 35 years ago most of her Dramatic Career has been in acting and comedy.
Do not forget that Pamela has been a practicing Clinical Psychologist for over 15 years and appears to be very fit for her sixty years.
A Dark Horse possibly, but a Ringer, I think not!
    Keeeep Dancing!!!

It's sad about Michelle, but she really is a poor dancer. She reminds me of a stick insect, all elbows and knees. I really feel for her and Gavin, They, IMO are just not improving.

  • Comment number 19.

sorry to hear Michelle is injured. Might do her a favour if she is unable go dance this weekend, as she is struggling at the moment. good luck to Matt and Aliona

  • Comment number 20.

I feel sorry for Michelle. It is never nice to get an injury of any description. I can vouch for that having had an inflamed nerve / Prolapse disc in my back for 10 of the last 13 months. But the doctor seems to have given Michelle good news in as much as it isn't a broken bone.

As long as she recovers in time for the following week it might be a blessing in disguise if Michelle is forced to sit out saturdays show. I am only saying this because as I mentioned on another blog she hasn't had the backing of the British Public so a bye would prolong her stay in the competition for another week and in view of Brendan only recently returning from New Zealand he will have had a week to recover from the inevitable jet lag any any effects it has on his frame of mind.

A fresh (and hopefully fully recovered) Michelle appearing in 2 weeks time can only be good for her and the competition especially if they can build on the 27 from the tango

Thank you Chaswick (17). I think Pamela is fantastic and I hope she will be in the final 4 at the very least.

  • Comment number 22.

Nothing to do with Michelle, but do we think Gavin will stay in the competition now he's signed a new players contract at Saracens? As he wants to get himself back in the Wales squad for the Rugby World Cup he needs to start playing rugby again...

  • Comment number 23.

@ humbleopinion. Let me put it another way. Jimi and Flavia. They have recieved 8's before. Do you think in terms of calibre Jimi is a better dancer than Michelle?

  • Comment number 24.

    Good Luck Michelle and Brendan,
I am sure that knowing Brendan's skills as a choreographer the routine that you will be doing should be 'safe as houses'.
Now that you have got the caring voters on your side you only need the US Air Force, the Earls Court Australian Residents Association and Beyonce's fan club voting for you to stand a chance of getting through to the next round.
It might not seem fair but you could dance like Darcey Bussell; yet if the fans don't ring your number it will be 'Bye Bye Baby' on the 'Chattanooga Choo Choo'.
You never know, if you get really lucky you might get the Saracens and Welsh Rugby supporters voting for you as well!
    Keeeep Dancing!!!

  • Comment number 25.

I get the impression that Michelle is finding this much harder than she imagined it would be. She obviously thinks she can dance by doing her own thing, but she lacks the control, discipline and focus required for this type of dancing.

  • Comment number 26.

    But didn't she do well?

One of my favourite dances of the night.
