Week 2 - What's happening and when?

Post categories: ,Ìý

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Eurovision Paul Ö÷²¥´óÐã Eurovision Paul | 12:33 UK time, Friday, 8 October 2010

We're rapidly approaching the second weekend on Strictly Come Dancing 2010, so we thought now would be a good time to remind you about the times of the shows - just so you can rearrange your social life appropriately!

Saturday's show will be broadcast LIVE on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One/Ö÷²¥´óÐã HD from 5.45 -Ìý 7.40pm - so that's nearly 2 full hours of glitter and glitz to brighten up your screens! All 14 couples will perform either a Foxtrot or a Salsa, and once everyone has performed, you will be able to VOTE for the couple (or couples!) you liked the most.

Sunday is the day ofÌýour first dreaded Results Show of 2010 - presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. And this year, we're going back to the way we USED toÌýreveal the resultsÌýin the firstÌý4ÌýseriesÌýof Strictly... in short, the couple with the lowest combined score from judges and public will automatically be going home. There's no dance-off, and the judges can't save anyone!

There's another special treat during the Results Show - when he was here last week with his pal Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams kindly recorded a special performance of one of his classic hits. And he's joined on-stage by our gorgeous female professional dancers, too!Ìý Oh, and there'll also be an incredible Quickstep performed by our new Strictly Showdancers troupe, too. So make sure you don't miss the first Results Show of 2010 - Sunday, 7.30 - 8.00 pm on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One/Ö÷²¥´óÐã HD.

And then, every weeknight at 6.30pm, Claudia Winkleman will be back as usual with the very latest analysis, gossip and special guests on Strictly Come Dancing - It Takes Two on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Two.

Aren't we good to you? :)

Yes you're very good to us! :)

And nearly 2 hours, thats Stricly marathon viewing - what heaven! Looking forward to seeing the Dance Troupe in action again, do you know if the dancers will be introduced to us on 'It Takes Two' at some point? Would be great to get aquainted with the new faces.

Looking forward to the Robbie performance with the Pro girls as well, will it be ALL the Pro girls?

  • Comment number 2.

Miriam - I can't remember for certain. I think it's at least five of the Pro Girls at least, dancing with Robbie.

And It Takes Two may very well feature the Strictly Showdancers troupe at some point - no news just yet, but I'm sure they'll probably be on there at some point!

  • Comment number 3.

I'm really going to miss the dance off.

  • Comment number 4.

Sambababe - I'd forgotten that there was NEVER a dance-off in the first FOUR series of Strictly. I thought it had always been there! I think it's going to be fascinating seeing how it works this year!

  • Comment number 5.

Could someone do the decent thing on Saturday night and do a little mention of the very first contestant to be voted off the very first series of SCD who passed away earlier this year at a very early age. People got entertainment out of his appearance on the show and it seems only fair that on the year that he died on the night that the first celebrity is voted out that he gets some kind of honourable mention or something. Please think about it Ö÷²¥´óÐã - it really is the decent thing to do.

  • Comment number 6.

@Miriam_rose the rehearsal pic for the Robbie dance posted on Twitter was Aliona (who has done the choreography), Flavia, Ola, Katya and Kristina, so I don't think Erin and Natalie will be in it.

  • Comment number 7.

Just a question - for the last few years the winning celeb and their pro-partner from the previous series perform their winning freesyle routine on opening night. It's really great for the audience in the studio and at home to see what was achieved last year by a celeb and also brings great atmosphere and excitement to the evening - comments along the line "oh, I forgot how brilliant they were last year" etc. As this Saturday is really opening night, in as much as someone is going to be voted off, will we be seeing Team Cola performing their brilliant winning freestyle performance sometime this weekend?

  • Comment number 8.

Sambababe: No, as far as I'm aware there's no appearance from Team Cola this weekend. As it's such a Strictly tradition, you never know - they may turn up later in the series.

  • Comment number 9.

Thank you Strictly Paul, and thank you Mystical123 ..(if Flavia's in it I'll be very happy) :]

  • Comment number 10.

Why Why WHY do you INSIST on these STUPID sunday shows.
Strictly is a Saturday show, keep it that way!!!!

  • Comment number 11.

DP1992: Funnily enough, this time last year, we had endless complaints from people angry with us for DROPPING the Sunday results show, saying that a huge long Saturday competition show with the results later was just too much to deal with! :)

  • Comment number 12.

The Sunday shows just don't seem to fit :S Strictly follow the Antiques Roadshow just feels so wrong! Still love the show no matter when it's on, but the energy and passion of Strictly feels so much more at home on the Saturday.
    Oh well, suppose there's no use crying over it now it's happening;
Still undecided about the dance off. What worries me is that without the dance off, dancers like Ricky Groves and Craig Kelly could go a lot further than they deserve. It was merciful when the judges voted them off last year. However, without it situations like Ali's Paso last year shouldn't occur, and it'll increase so much more tension, and perhaps give people a lot more reason to vote knowing there's no safety net...
    In short, exciting :P

  • Comment number 13.

In the last couple of years, the couple who won Strictly always perform on the first night of the new series, where is team cola. they won Strictly last year, so it would nice to see them to see them nice.

When are Chris and Ola doing a dance for us, as they are still the champions until the Final night.

I agree and disagree about the dance off not being there. without the dance off, what I am afraid that the better dancers are going to be voted off instead of the poorer dancers. Where as with the dance off, the better dancer had a chance of getting through to the next week.

Why are people giving out about the result show being on a Sunday and not on Saturday, because the way I look at it is that we have Strictly 7 days a week between ITT, the main Show and the result show. :)

  • Comment number 14.

in recent years, the champions of Strictly have danced on the first night of the new series of strictly. I am wondering where is team cola? As Bruce would say changing couple of words it would be nice to see them to see them nice. is there a reason that they are not on? Chris and Ola are still the champions of Strictly until the final night.

I don't get people why are they giving out about having the results show on a Sunday. in my eyes, We have Strictly 7 nights a week between ITT,main Show and Results show. :)

No Dance off - What i am afraid of is that the better dancers are going to be sent home, where having a dance off the better dancers have a better chance of going through to the following week.

  • Comment number 15.

I fear Anton may be making an early exit tonight

  • Comment number 16.

I presume that the Sunday show will, as in previous series, be recorded on a Saturday night following the 'live' show, this is what annoys me and many other viewers. The feeling that you've watched a live show and voted but you have to watch the result that was known and recorded nearly 24 hours after the event loses its impact.
Normally I find out the result via web message boards from people in the audience but in my opinion I shouldn't need to do that, its like the Ö÷²¥´óÐã showing a live football game but don't show the end part of the game and final whistle until the next day.

  • Comment number 17.

As the Sunday show is only 30 minutes it seems such a poor excuse not to include it on the Saturday broadcast.

But we can't do that because X Factor is being shown on the other side.

When the contestants are being eliminated and Strictly is aired for a shorter time on Saturday will the Sunday slot be added.

Saturday is Strictly night not Sunday.

I don't like this blog system

The catergories are rubbish, who makes them up?

Some catergories have lots of comments, too many as it takes you forever to read. Why have a catergory about one show? Surely it would be better to break it up into different aspects of the show.

Please make this blog system more interesting so that loyal fans can make comments about everything they do and don't like.

Thank you (not holding my breath or I will die)

    xx

I agree it would be great to see Team cola do their show dance again but... and I don't think it has been oficially confirmed yet, as Ola is probabily p*t it is unlikely. It also explains why(unfortunatly)she has opted for an early exit with this years dance partner!

  • Comment number 20.

@Ö÷²¥´óÐã Strictly Paul: So many people would love to see Chris & Ola dance the Charleston again, they're the people's champions and it would be such a shame if they didn't get to dance together one more time! If the Charleston's still a competitive dance it would be great to have them demonstrate it the previous week, otherwise any time - what about the semi-final or final seeing as Ola isn't likely to be competing at that stage of the competition this year?

@comment 19, 'TotallyOla' - that speculation is entirely unnecessary, and actually I think it's quite derogatory to Ola (no wonder it was starred out, but it'seasy to tell what that word was).

  • Comment number 21.

hi everyone, only 1 hour to go, im so excited. I think Peter and Erin will go tonight, i think they will be in the bottom with Michelle and Brendan, what does everyone alse think?

  • Comment number 22.

Loved the new look Strictly. Loved Claudia & Tess on Sunday but wish that the lovely Claudia could have looked glam too. Tess looked great in the dress but Claudia looked like she was going to the shopping mall for a coffee. Surely the Beeb can do better than that!!! Let's have Claudia looking as good as Tess next week! They aren't a threat to each other just two good looking girls!!!

  • Comment number 23.

I want to add a new category to the blog but cannot see how to do it and so I am adding it here.

    1) Camera work. I know you are trying to keep it interesting but most viewers tune in to see the dancing not the fancy camera work eg in Matt and Aliona's quickstep when they separated and were both dancing the same steps we only got to see Matt. I wanted to see them both working in harmony. Half the time we miss the choreography because of the crazy camera angles. When you see a stage show it is designed to be watched in toto fronm the front. use the cameras to feature a great move or some fancy footwork that we might otherwise miss but otherwise let us see it whole!

    2) The miserable videos available. I don't only want to see the best and the worst. The camera work, costumes and lighting are so rubbishy so far on the professional dance troupe I hardly want to see it at all let alone at the expense of other dancing eg this week Scott and Natalie's brilliant Jungle quickstep is not available. Why not? If you are going to force us all to buy a dvd tell us so we can ask for it for Christmas. Otherwise stop being so stingy with coverage available after 7 days.
