Your excellent programme Strictly Come Dancing has a large and enthusiastic audience. At age 83 I still dance ballroom whenever there is an opportunity with a lady, who like me, learnt after the last war when Victor Sylvester was teaching ballroom on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã. We and our friends increased our knowledge from him. At the same time Victor Sylvester wrote a book entitled "Modern Ballroom Dancing",published by Herbert Jenkins Limited showing all the steps diagrammatically. I still have my copy but there is no date of publication which is probably recorded at the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.The Victor Sylvester Ballroom Orchestra also recorded gramophone records on Columbia records for the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.
There are few opportunities up here to dance ballroom and when we do we are approached by young people saying "We would love to do that","where can we learn it",etc.
Isn't there a golden opportunity to do follow up Strictly with Victor Sylvester type teaching, CDs, booklets etc. to reactivate this type of dancing which is difficult or virtually impossible to do in many parts of the U.K.? I think that this would be greatly appreciated by many of your audience
well what were the judges watching there NOWAY as good as Holly's last week shame for the thrid person in the final because they want Harry and Chelsee only
As a Scottish Country Dancer, I particularly loved Jason's T-shirt for Wembley. It did make me think a few hours of reels, strathspeys and jigs would help some of the celebrities, e.g. Audley (to get onto the balls of his feet) and Harry (to turn out his wee hen toes) and just think of these two in particular, in kilts!! As the show spans St Andrew's night, maybe a Scottish flavour could be injected for a week next year? Love the show and think this year has been one of the best yet.
What a pity Jason wins because he is Jason, and not on merit. Now superior dancers like holly are dropped. How sad is that. a middle aged woman on a local news shot said, "I'll be voting for jason because I used to watch Neighbours."
