July will see the launch of the country's first Police 'Community Portal'. Deeside has been chosen as one of the pilot areas for the project which will give police officers another means of communicating with their community. The plan is to have "news, views, blogs and a community forum for all to use". Darren Wareing, Deeside Police Inspector, uses the Deeside views page to share information about the project.
It's amazing, isn't it, just how many people we come into contact with in our daily lives? And this has become evident as the - responsible for controlling the outbreak near Corwen - has been identifying people who may have had some degree of contact.
So far they've identified 221 people, that's 36 in the 'household setting', 14 in the local school and a massive 171 in the workplace, including patients and staff at two hospitals.

Never-far-from-the-media-spotlight Richard Brunstrom has had a pop at MPs for trying to keep their expenses secret [see ] - and then pledged to keep us up to date about his claims. [it's a pdf document] at the Chief Constable's claims or follow the links from .
There's nothing exciting in there for the last few months. It shows motorway toll fees, hotel and meal bills and air travel to London and back. Frankly, it shows his work-based activities are as humdrum as the rest of us!
So there I was, supposedly 'popping' out over lunch and yet finding myself taking what felt like an age to drive from Wrexham town centre - via the dreaded queues along Grosvenor Road - and out to Plas Coch retail park. It would have been quicker to have walked.
What were the alternatives? Drive along Rhosddu Road - but that would risk my wing mirrors as I hoped for the best passing on-coming traffic under the railway bridge by the Remploy factory.

As promised TV celebrities, popstars and football legends turned out for a charity football match today and among was the TV queen of storm-in-a-tea-cup tantrums, aka Big Brother contestant Nikki who amazed everyone with her good nature and willingness to get stuck in. She even scored a goal!

Ponciau Banks park has received a £504, 000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for restoration and improvements. Among proposed developments are plans to renovate the bandstand and and install a "viewing amphitheatre" which would then be used for outdoor events. The ultimate aim is to restore the park "to its former splendour of the 1950s period". For further information see .
kicks off on Sunday with a host of events to put the spotlight on the resort over the Bank holiday weekend. Meanwhile, celebs including Caprice, Towers of London, Liberty X, possibly Jade Goodey, and others will be at Wrexham's Racecourse Stadium on Monday for the charity Soccer Six tournament. Spare a thought for Lisa Roberts from Connah's Quay who was forced to give birth to Jake in the back of the family car at the side of the road at the Rossett turn-off on the A483 Wrexham Bypass after an untimely breakdown during a dash to the Maelor Hospital.
Worse was still to come for husband Sean; it was 3.50am, cold and pitch black and when he called 999 they gave him instructions - he was going to have to deliver the baby onthe back seat of the car! You can read the full story online at
More than 200 people are expected to attend the Royal National Lifeboat Institute Flint crew's official naming of their new lifeboat on Sunday. Funded by the people of Flintshire who donated £25,000, it will be handed over to the volunteer crew during a special ceremony, including singing from Flint Male Voice Choir.

So far nominations for the Picnic Spot of the Year include Greenfield Valley Heritage Park and Ewloe Castle, in Flintshire; Conwy Castle; as well as Minera Lead Mines and Nant Mill, both in Wrexham. We're not aware of any suggestions for Denbighshire. Bala Lake has been suggested for Gwynedd.

We're looking forward to this weekend's German Folk Festival in Wrexham, including beers, food and live music from an Oompah band.
It is being held on Llwyn Isaf green from Friday until Sunday night. The green, popular with Yale College students, is an alcohol-free zone - and the policy is usually strictly enforced by police - but I guess this event must exempt. Isn't it?
There's a fascinating article in today's which looks at the story behind the rise and rise of the moneysupermarket.com empire, based at Ewloe, and which was set up Simon Nixon and the little known Duncan Cameron whose company would be worth around £1 billion if floated on the stock market.
Trouble is, apparently the pair no longer see eye-to-eye and the 'paper goes on to say the Mr Cameron, it seems, would rather race his supercharged Ferrari or seek wines in France than be part of a dotcom flotation that would make him, on paper, worth up to £480 million.

3000 households in Ruthin and Denbigh are to receive deliveries of wheelie bins and bags for recycling their rubbish. The 'x2 refuse collection system' has already reduced the amount of waste sent to landfill by 3000 tonnes in other parts of the county, that's equivalent to the weight of 11 jumbo jets!
