Context

You have an idea and want to check that it's strong in all areas.

Overview

Flesh out your idea by asking yourself a set questions about its essential qualities.

How-to

  1. Draw a big beetle on a piece of paper or on a virtual whiteboard, with a head, six legs and a body.
  2. In the head, write the title of the idea.
  3. In the body, write the description.
  4. Now answer one of these questions for each leg in turn:
    • Who is it for?
    • Why would people use this?
    • What is special about this idea?
    • What happens if you reverse this?
    • What makes this different?
    • How could you grow this idea?
  5. You can add/change/remove these questions to fit your project if they don't quite work.
  6. There's nothing to stop you adding extra legs with extra questions.
