主播大秀 Children in Need funds a diverse range of projects across the UK and people might be surprised by the breadth of work supported.

Every organisation that applies for a grant has to clearly demonstrate how their project will change the lives of children and young people for the better.
听
The grant money can fund specific activities (e.g. respite holiday, summer play scheme, musical workshop, or sailing lessons); services (e.g. counselling, advice, supplementary education, youth outreach, mentoring); or can buy something very tangible (e.g. equipment, toys). A grant might also pay the salary of a vital member of staff.
听
The following examples have been taken from projects funded this year.

拢5 could buy cot bedding for very young children affected by poverty, homelessness, family breakdown, or domestic abuse.
听
拢10 could pay for a young athlete who has had an organ transplant to enter the British Transplant Games and receive a commemorative medal.
听
拢15 could pay for a tutor to provide one hour of supplementary education at an after-school club catering for disadvantaged children from minority ethnic communities.
听
拢30 could buy a pair of riding boots for an organisation supporting mentally and physically disabled children.
听
拢60 could pay for a counselling session for children whose parents are separating or divorcing.
听
拢100 could subsidise a child's place on holiday play scheme, allowing them to play and make friends despite financial hardship.
听
拢350 could pay for the training of a bereavement counsellor to work with young people.
听
拢1,000 could buy a year's worth of arts and crafts resources for an after-school club catering for children living below the poverty line.
听
拢9,000 could pay for a specially-designed rock climbing wall for children with special needs.
听
拢12,000 could pay the salary of a part-time social worker providing specialist support to young people with cancer or leukaemia.
听
拢18,000 could pay the salary of a runaway phone-line supervisor.
听
拢20,000 could pay the salary of a psychotherapist who will deliver counselling and support to young children who have experienced the trauma of rape, sexual abuse or sexual violence.
