Meet Chris McCausland

Swapping stand up routines for dance routines!

Chris McCausland is swapping punchlines for Paso Dobles as he steps into the spotlight for Strictly Come Dancing 2024! The Liverpool-born comedian, known for his razor-sharp wit, is ready to trade in his stand-up routines for some serious dance moves.

Chris has been lighting up the comedy scene since 2003, with regular appearances on hit shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Would I Lie to You. He's also taken to the iconic stage of Live at the Apollo, cementing his place as a beloved comedic personality.

In his 20s and 30s, Chris lost most of his sight due to retinitis pigmentosa and is now registered blind. But that didn’t slow down his career. He continued to shine on TV, including hosting The Wonders of the World I Can't See, taking part in Channel 4's Scared of the Dark, and even playing ‘Rudi’ on CBeebies' Me Too!

While he's mastered the art of comedy, there’s one thing Chris has never done: dance. A heavy metal fan at heart, his ‘dance moves’ usually involve mosh pits and headbanging. Now, as Strictly's first-ever blind contestant, he's about to bring his all to the Ballroom. Whether he's cracking jokes or headbanging his way through a Waltz, one thing’s for sure—Chris is going to keep us laughing on Strictly!
