Having now established myself as a "regular" listener I must thank Harry for that mix! Listening to "God Save the Queen" I was transported back to a school trip to France from Plockton High School in the mid 80's. "Anyone have a good tape (long time ago!)" says the teacher - one of the boys - Gordon from Lochcarron, was a big fan of the Sex Pistols so he gave the driver his tape to put on. Needless to say that the tape was confiscated and put into the teacher's bag by the time we had reached Durinish Bridge - approx 2 miles down the road and stayed there for the duration of the trip! Great memories!!

The Wickerman Festival: An apology It has been brought to my attention that in my submission for Monday night's show I appeared to cast doubt on the quality of the line-up for this year's Wickerman Festival. I would like to stress that, whilst I may have stated that the line-up "left me cold", this was a reference to the shiver of excitement that went up my spine on hearing who would be there. It is a class festival, and has a great, relaxed feel (no matter what the line-up!). Maybe this could be a venue for a "Get It Ontogether"? Could also offer another wierd one from zany (countryish) Ray Stevens ...'Jeremiah Peabody's polyunsaturated, quick-dissolving, fast-acting, pleasant-tasting, green and purple pills' ... wonder how the chorus goes? However, to bring a bit of sanity back to this, am offering the following 2 for consideration: 'You can make me dance, sing or anything (even take the dog for a walk, mend a fuse, fold away the ironing board, or any other domestic shortcomings) ... by Rod & the Faces. LIVE VERSIONS: Don't suppose my mixtape will be used so I'll mention the 2 live tracks from that list: "Ain't That A Shame" by Cheap Trick (Live at Budokan). It has a pretty slow start but builds up really well, with some great guitar and some great screaming from the audience too. Pity we don't hear much from Cheap Trick apart from "I Want You To Want Me" (which incidentally is covered very well by "Letters to Cleo"). "AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" is played more often on radio but still must be one of the best live tracks ever. The "Angus" chants during the intro are definitely Scottish-accented as it was recorded at the Glasgow Apollo. I'm very glad I saw them (in Edinburgh) on what must have been the same tour, while Bon Scott was still around. "Rock and Roll Damnation" is another favourite but I think "Rosie" just pips it. Looking forward to this show, with, I bet, loads of good live tracks suggested.
