Ouch!

I've haven't been posting as I broke the car & myself. Apparently you can't sue a deer, a tree or a wall for personal injury although the solicitor who phoned me hours after the accident was keen to try to sue the owners of all three! I came round the hairpin outside Brodick towards Corrie, there was a deer in the middle of the road. I hit the breaks, skidded (so much for 4 wheel drive) and bounced off one wall and hit the other thus crumpling both wings of the car and breaking my scaphoid. So i'm in plaster up to the elbow for the next 6 - 8 weeks and the car is off to the mainland. Fingers crossed it's not a write-off! Still got a years finance left to pay on it..... Does anyone know if you get a shiney new car or is it just book price of the one you've wrecked?

Of course according to Sods Law I've broken my left hand so can't write, typing this has taken three weeks and i can't paint or draw. With three months of workshop teaching booked and prime art season just started this is more than a little inconveinient. AND I can't row, sail, drive or hike anywhere on my own. I can't even tie my own shoe laces, I have to ask somone to come round or accost bypassers. I've had to buy a load of ready meals as can't chop, open cans, even buttering toast is messy so i'm going to turn into a fat blimp with bad skin, the food tastes awful and can't have anything that needs cut up unless a kindly soul is passing who is willing to cut my dinner up for me!

So far I've just got taxis everywhere but as I get skinter I'm going to have to get public transport which means rubbing shoulders with poor people! I'll end up with rickets... Worst of all I can't open a bottle of wine or champagne!

Still... musn't grumble.... snivel

Arran is one of the most accessible and spectacular islands on Scotland’s west coast, under an hour from the mainland - and less than two hours from Glasgow.

It is home to some of Scotland’s most iconic wildlife from the majestic golden eagle, to the imposing red deer – and a UK stronghold of one of our rarest birds of prey, the beautiful hen harrier.

Its waters are a haven for seals, porpoises, basking sharks and even dolphins – and during the first Arran Wildlife Festival, we aim to bring you closer to some of these amazing creatures with four days packed with events.

Brought to you by RSPB Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and Destination Arran

Please note that many events are weather permitting and the festival partners cannot be held responsible for cancelled events due to the weather.
