Savour Your Scene Fest

Ìý

Northern Irish independent metal/hardcore label, are having their first ever mini fest this Saturday at the Warzone Collective, Belfast.

Being a one stop shop for "punk & crust fans, hardcore kids, those into their thrash and metal and those simply wanting to indulge in some loud music", it was a simple choice for this week's 'Gig of the Week'.

We spoke to Savour Your Scene founder and drummer,ÌýStephen Currie about the day festival this Saturday:

**

"I wanted to not only highlight the talent Belfast currently has, but also bring bands from the south giving them exposure in this growing Belfast scene.ÌýWe've 7 bands on the bill (4 from the North, 3 from the South)."

"Picking the bill was pretty easy, most of the bands are on the label and we have worked closely to help release their music.ÌýÌýare making an appearance as personally I'm just a straight up huge fan, andÌýÌýI chose as I like to give new bands an opportunity to network and get gig contacts to get them off the ground and outside of their comfort zone. Basically since forming the label I've always wanted to get all the bands on the one bill, sadly By Any Means can't join us for this one... maybe next time!"

"Also Saturday's a celebration! Paul () is having his stagg at it, so congratulation to him and his lovely wife to be, and it's a leaving party, as Ryan () is playing is last show with the band to pursue his personal projects. All in all, it's going to be mental craic!"

Back to basics with our gig of the week this time around - a great bill-topper, a solid support and all in a reliable venue in the capital city! No messing about.

Andy from headliners can sum up just why you want to be at this show better than we ever could, so it's over to him:

"We're building up to the release of our debut album, "Tundra" in the new year and are one of our favourite bands on the whole island, so we couldn't turn down the opportunity to link up with them again. Their album is outstanding! It's also aÌýgreat chance to see some high quality newer acts like and . We're particularly excited about , her new video for Back In Your Box is great! We've just released another single, it's called "Trembleur" and it's free on our bandcamp and soundcloud! We can't wait for people to hear it. There will be a few free t-shirts as well..."

Well, you'd need to be living under a rock not to know that it'sÌýat the moment, so we thought we'd go beyond the city lights and see what else is happening.

Head north towards the coast and you'll find four days of music spread across Portstewart, Portrush and Portbaliintrae. Now in it's fifth year, the Ìýhas grown steadily, bringing talent from around the country up to the pubs of the coast. Running from the 8th-11th November, the festival also has has a free music trail and you can get more details on .

Keith Miller from the festival said, "This year is already shaping up to the Sessions biggest year yet, with more acts - including new faces and welcome returnees - and a greater buzz about the the event on the north coast and beyond, than ever before. Highlights include headline gigs by Gemma Hayes (supported by festival favourites, Sons Of Caliber), local legend Anthony Toner, and Bap Kennedy. Returning by popular demand, festival veterans include Derry's own liquour-soaked alt country heroes The Murder Balladeers, the fantastic Paddy Nash & The Happy Enchiladas, Master & Dog, and Malojian. Newcomers, some of whom have already made a mark on the north coast's musical venues, include Rachel Austin, Seven Summits, The Farriers and The Emerald Armada."

Andrew Farmer, frontman for those "festival favourites"Ìý, said the Atlantic Sessions was his "favourite show of last year" when they played "in an old theatre to a fervent crowd".

Neil from festival newbiesÌý claimed that, "The North Coast lends inspiration for ALOT of our songs, so what better place is there to share great music? Expect a town buzzing with wall to wall live music. My highlight would have to be Silhouette in the Portrush Playhouse Theatre".

The Atlantic Sessions on the North Coast will run between Portstewart, portrush and Portballintrae from the 8th tot he 11th of November. VisitÌýÌýfor all the details.
