#46...about 15 years ago, woods included the driver plus 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and even nine woods. Nobody really calls a driver a wood anymore. However, most golfers refer to the other clubs formerly called woods as woods. Some really fussy golf commentators insist on calling today's woods, "metals" as in "Elin just harpooned Tiger's windshield with his three metal; I hope the club is OK; he'll need that for the second shot on the 15th at Augusta."

My three wood has no wood but I'm calling it a three wood until my soon-to-be-ex-wife helicopters it over the back fence. I'm not sure what I'll do then.

Probably purchase the latest three wood.
