well done, madmac - a great week of themes. Now if they take on board your oft-repeated plea for some songs less ordinary and manage something from Gong we'll be in for an absoutely cracking week. Looking forward to it!

for starters, unlikely I daresay, but what about The McCalmans,with the retiral of Ian meaning their last ever appearance together will be in Glasgow this December. They're a brilliant live act and with Ian's father coming from Bute obviously that makes them special to me. There's a song on the most recent album that is about a place on Bute I hold very dear and it was a lovely surprise to find it. It's not the most stunning tune you ever heard and possibly a bit too 'folky' for GIO, - it's just special to me, so I'll give it a go anyway

Last January I went to a festival called Celtic Connections to see the Indian percussionist, Trilok Gurtu - and this January coming we're getting to hear a resurgant Love & Money.

Well, I guess we won't be getting Trilok played, and, if Adam's observations are correct I won't be getting anything played anyway, - so I'll go with Sometimes I Want To Give Up - Love & Money.

There is a little known album released on Iona records by a band called The Colour Of Memory which is a hidden gem that they never put promotional money into. It would be great to hear the track The Grace.

Gaie, I've got that Freightened Rabbit album, but haven't quite gotten into it yet.

My boy is drumming for the Chili Pipers at the turning on of Paisleys Christmas Lights a week on Saturday. Don't be fooled by the Olly Murs publicity. He'll flick the switch. Chili Pipers will do the entertaining. Not a fan of their chasing cars but their Baba O'Reilly is pretty damn good!

Toughie this - trying to balance between being Celtic enough, and actually getting played, not least through the 'Make sure Bryan can pronounce it' rule. Also self-censoring all the very-nearly-celtic-but-actually-english music I have (Eliza Carthy & Oysterband for a start)
