Dot cottons on to her sister

Post categories: ,

Lou | 06:00 UK time, Friday, 27 May 2011

Oooh I say... Dot Branning tracks down her estranged sister, Rose, this Summer after years apart. Who'd have thought it?

Dot hasn't spoken to Rose since she found out abouther affair - with Charlie Cotton - her own husband! *Raises eyebrow*.

It's funny what a bout of hypochondria can do though, as Dot decides to go in searchfor her long-lost sibling to try and heal their rift.

But all is not so rosey for the pair...

The chalk and cheese siblings don't have the best start to their reunion, as Rose is not too happy to be tracked down. Poor Dot.

The cast and crew welcome Polly with open arms! The actress adds: "I am thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders, the show is a real British Institution with an extraordinary creative team.

"I'm really looking forward to working with June again, who I have been friends with for over 30 years".

Polly is best known for playing Trish Valentine in .

Water may be running from the Brannings' household taps, but the lack of lurrrve flowing in Lol's life is severely damaging her mood. If she doesn't bag a fella quickly, then she may shrivel up and be single FOR-EV-ER. At the ancient age of 17... she'd better get a move on.

We *heart* Dot and Jim

Post categories:

Guest Insider | 20:00 UK time, Tuesday, 24 May 2011

Wow! Struggling Dot finally crumbles and realises she can no longer look after Jim.

It's already been a tense week as we've seen a worn out Dot over-working herself; trying to juggle work at the launderette, caring for Jim and managing with her bad shoulder.

Dot and Jim

It's just typical of Dot continuously refusing a helping hand -as we all know she's "not one to fuss" - but even she can't do everything.

The old fashion girl has always been about principles and following the rules regardless! So being there for Jim 'through thick and thin...in sickness and in health, until death do us apart', was the motto for her to stand by.

Deep down, confused and lonely, may not begin to describe how Dot is feeling. It certainly hasn't been an easy ride for Dot with Edward seeking her affections. Now,what will happen to their friendship?

Ps...you can't help but love the moment Dot watches her and Jim's wedding video *wipes tear of eye*. Emotional!

Show the love for Dot and Jim!

Preview: June Brown on Dot's struggle

Post categories:

Lou | 17:20 UK time, Thursday, 19 May 2011

It's been an uphill struggle and an emotional journey for both Dot and JimBranningsincethe former boxersuffered a stroke in 2007.

Poor 'ol Dot has been running around the Square trying to juggleher day job inthe Laundrette, along with looking after Jim and, lastly, herself.I'm tired just thinkingabout it.

From Monday, 23 May Dot's struggle becomes more obvious and seriousemotions come to light...

Watch the previewvid of Dot getting flustered at Carol Jacksonand read on for June Brown's take on how her character really feels...

On accepting help from Carol

"She doesn't really like Carol as she feels she is a sharp character and Carol hasn't really bothered with Jim since she returnedto the Square. Dot's been left to do it on her own."

In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed. Visit Webwise for full instructions. If you're reading via RSS, you'll need to visit the blog to access this content.

On Jim's return

"Dot's finding it very hard, especially as she's having difficulties with her shoulder and the fact that Jim can't walk means that she has to do everything for him.

"She feels helpless, Jim is her husband and she wants to be there for him, but it's a full-time job caring for someone in his condition and she still has her work at the Launderette and her life to juggle, so she's finding it very difficult."

On watching an oldvideo of Jim

"She is very upset because it contrasts so much what was then and what is now."

On Edward

"She feels guilty because there is an attraction there, but because of her religious views she feels it is wrong."

On telling this story for EastEnders

"It is extremely important as there are so many people out there in similar situations.

"It was very moving, as Dot's obviously very close to Jim on screen and I'm very good friends with John off screen."

Will Heather forgive Ben?

Post categories:

Guest Insider | 17:00 UK time, Thursday, 12 May 2011

The secret’s finally out of the bag… Ben has come clean to Heather (and the rest of the Square) that he IS Kevin68. Poor Hev.

That was the problem with Hev's internet dating experience - she never knew if she was having a real romance!

Broken-hearted Hev goes off on one tonight for being “stupid old Heather” and believing someone could possibly love her. Both Ben and Hev'sfriendship will surely be on rocky grounds.

Heather and Ben

Hev and Ben take up their positions for a new dance routine to 'Freedom'

Isn’t it weird how throughout their ‘web affair’ the two may find they have much more in common than they think.

Let’s just do a quick tick list of why it might be worth saving their friendship:

  1. Both like soppy films (check)
  2. Enjoy eighties music (check)
  3. Love a Cheddar and pickle sarnie (check)
  4. Both feel alone (check!)

But the real question we want to know is... what has Ben really been playing at? A closer look intoone ofKevin68’s emails(nowjust schoolboy Ben) *thumbs down* will surely give us a clue:

“It’s so easy to feel lonely even if you’re in a crowded place. I feel the same. Doesn’t matter how many people are about, it’s like you’re invisible. It’s good to talk about it. Perhaps we can heal the pain together."

Hev may have her Freedom, but will her friendship with Ben take a turn for the worse? What do you think?

Charlie Brooks on the Soap Awards night

Post categories: ,

Lou | 14:00 UK time, Thursday, 12 May 2011

Janine Malloy may be a manipulative madam who would ratherspend her evening throwing evil stares and making catty comments to other bar locals, but that's way off the agenda for actress Charlie Brooks.

We had a brief, girly chat to theVillain of the Year nomineein this year's .

Here area few of her numptious nuggets aboutthe BIG NIGHT in Manchester aproaching...

On the star-studded ceremony:

"They are usually really good fun because you get to see people you know from the other soaps and have quite a laugh.

"I remember them from when I was younger. There was quite a lot of younger cast members- Jack Ryder (Jamie)and Natalie Cassidy (Sonia)so we’d get all dolled up together. I think I was probably 18 at my first one."

On getting 'dolled up':

"I never spend ages getting ready- I’m a wash-up-and-go kind of girl. I’m so impatient, I just want to get it done and get out."

On 'ergh! What is she wearing?' fashion disasters:

"I've had several fashion disasters! One year I wore a dreadful black dress, awful shoes, awful make-up. The shoes were these pink flat gladiator sandals that tied up the whole of my leg. Absolutely horrendous! I’ve had loads."

Let's hope she has no fashion disasters this year...

On this year's fun n' frolics...

"We always mix together at the soap awards. This year we’re all getting coaches up to Manchester which is going to be lots of fun."

You can bet there'll be sing songs on the M6.

If you haven't yet voted in this year's Soap Awards, then make your vote count through the .

Oh. My. Days. Time spent on set with the lovely (and very busy) Shane Richie was one not to be missed! The sun was shining, the mood was joyful and we were blessed to hear a little sing song from the good man himself.

We joined the Best Actor nominee, who plays loveable Alfie Moon, outside the Vic where he talked about heading up to Manchester "mob-handed" for the and gave us a demo of his "winning face," "loser's look" and "the one-where-you-don't-even-get-a-mention" expression.

He also breaks an ALMIGHTY EXCLUSIVE! will soon be running the Minute Mart... You what!?

Two new Moons to shine on Albert Square

Post categories: ,

Matt Humphreys | 00:01 UK time, Tuesday, 10 May 2011

With David Essex set to join the cast as Eddie Moon, it won't be long before he's joined by his two on-screen sons, Anthony and Tyler.

Youngest son Tyler Moon, played by Tony Discipline, arrives in Albert Square looking for his dad with older brother Anthony Moon (Matt Lapinskas) also stepping onto the Square shortly after.

The likely lads have lots in common but at the same time they're very different. Tyler lives for the weekend, loves a good laugh with his mates and often ends up in trouble, particularly where the ladies are concerned. Whereas he's quick to use his fist to sort things out, Anthony will look for a more sensitive solution and will rely on his brains and natural wit.

The new Moons

Pictured above are Matt (on the left) and Tony (on the right) with David Essex. Here's what they had to say on joining the cast...

Tony: "It's really exciting to be able to work on a show that you have grown up watching and have followed your whole life, I am very grateful to be given this opportunity and am looking forward to working on the show and becoming an EastEnder!"

Matt: "I'm absolutely over the moon! It's has been my lifetime ambition to be on EastEnders, I have watched it growing up with my Nan who is a big fan. I'm so pleased to get my first TV role, I just didn't believe it would be so big. I've met some of the cast I will be working with who were very friendly and welcoming and I can't wait to start filming."

Bryan Kirkwood, Executive Producer of EastEnders adds: "Both Tony and Matt are fabulous additions to the show. Headed up by David Essex, the Moon clan are on their way to becoming an established family in the Square."
