Very nice of Martin to say such lovely things also. I thought the badger though a worthy winner.

We were just wondering how Bill Oddie is doing because we miss him on the show with his input and enthusiasm. We watch Springwatch every year and last night enjoyed about the beavers and the butterflies. We are already enjoying the programme tonight. Please reply. Thankyou...MADCHESTER.....

I took the "Fighting Pheasants" shot, but I agree that the "Bouncing Badger" was a worthy winner. I've still yet to see a live Badger, let alone one in the daytime.
The Pheasant photo was taken when I was supposed to be manning the Reception Centre at the RSPB's Blacktoft Sands reserve.
But I could see that these two Pheasants were just spoiling for a fight so, since it was a quiet moment in Reception, I snuck out with my camera and waited a few minutes.
Then it all kicked off!!
But no blood was spilt, and the battle royal was all over within 10 minutes. Just a lot of Pheasant testosterone :-)
