How beautiful is the venue, such a treat for the celebs.

I'm having my Strictly Blackpool gathering tonight, no beers, just cocktails!

Will have cuppa and piece of bakewell tart then settle down to be regally entertained by Bruce, Tess, all the dancers and the judges even Craig who are wonderfull.

Now I know why I don't like Bruce Forsyth, how rude is he. This is the second time I have heard him insult the people of Blackpool he should be made to apologise. People of Blackpool don't speak in that stupid voice that he is trying to portray. If he were to insult an asian in this way it would be racist.

We feel that Anton deserves his own trophey 'dancer of the series'. He is a real professional, great character and gentleman. Although Ann is a real sport and entertaining its time for her to go ! We'd love to see more of Anton but Ann is just too painful to watch. She is also not giving 100% with the professional direction or willing to try as the other celebrties are.
We want to see Anton with a person who wants to 'the' dance !

  • Comment number 10.

Good show tonight, though the sound was often a bit suspect with dancers appearing out of tune with the music.
    Observations:
WHY was Ann on last, as 'star' of the show (funny coincidence, that). She angered me more than ever this week - WHY does her voice have to be heard first, and most often, during the judging? WHY is she seemingly given dispensation not to perform the dances properly, ie samba contains sexy moves yet she refuses to do them... She is a disgrace to the programme.
Kara's dance was utterly beautiful but I must defend Len's right (even if we don't agree) not to score it highly. If it was presented as a Foxtrot American Smooth, then he as a ballroom judge is going to score it as such and if it didn't contain any, I can see his point, however beautiful it was.
I agreed with Craig about Scott's dance - his hip movements aren't particularly good and there's something about them that looks uncomfortable.
I do think Len was off the mark about Matt's terrific somersaults - after all, if you can't do somersaults in a carnival Samba, when can you?
    Moaning over....Great show.

Gill1-couldn't agree more about Bruce.Time for Ann to go -it was so embarrassing, everyone else is trying so hard& she refuses point blank to do certain moves-why do the show in the first place it's becoming a farce, she made it this far now go gracefully-sorry ,that was an unfortunate turn of phrase!!Matt was fantastic!

I thought Kara's dance was the most beautiful dance I've ever seen, she looked so professional. I think she should have received four tens. I cannot believe that Len thought the dance worth only one point more than he had scored Ann. I accept his reasoning, but taking everything into consideration, did he really think Ann's dance was almost as good as Kara's?
Loved the show, but Craig seems to be the only judge marking with honesty and integrity, if sometimes a little harshly.

My wife and I were in the audience last night and being the third & fourth person in the queue of 1200 we thought we stood a chance of a decent seat. After standing outside in the cold for 6 hours and a further 2 1/2 hours wait within the Tower building we were allocated our seats on the fifth row on the ground floor. The first four rows had been allocated to Ö÷²¥´óÐã staff friends & family including Tess's Mother & Father in law. The corporate block showed no interest in the show and euphoria from them and had to be mustered up by the warm up man, resulting in two takes each time for the pre-recorded slots. One gentleman on the front row was asked by the warm up man who he was routing for to which he replied "I don't know I only came along for the ride". We sat for the four hours recording with no vision of the dance routines and our back two rows tried to create some atmosphere but we were too low in number for the two thirds corporate block. We feel very disappointed not just for ourselves who have watched every episode of the show but for those of the million on line ticket requests who were not given the chance to support the show due to such a large number of seats being given over to family & friends of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã staff. We ended the night going out to a wet and cold Blackpool night whilst the corporate block went to a Champagne reception. Very disapointing and unfair Ö÷²¥´óÐã !!!

Had to watch strictly via the video last night as we were out but switched on as soon as we got home.
Blackpool weaved its magic spell again - it really is a wonderful ballroom.

The night really belonged to Matt but Kara and Pamela were brilliant. I know what Len was saying was technically right BUT he didn't lower his marks when illegal lifts were performed during previous dances so should have been equally fair to Kara and Artem!

I'll watch the results with trepidation as I feel the "yellow peril" will be back.

  • Comment number 15.

ok ann, it's really time to leave now. what a terrible display of dancing. she has had her time in blackpool, now it's time to leave it to the serious contenders. seeing her yellow tights was NOT a real treat!!
    disgusted and dismayed in netherlands.

    Hi Winston5998
I know what you mean. We arrived a couple of weeks ago at 9am in London and we were first in the queue. We waited (inside and outside)for 7.5 hours and although we were first to go to the studio, we ended up in row 6 as the first 5 rows were all invited guests. They were also included in champagne receptions/breaks and were not all true fans like the people who queue for hours.
We still enjoyed it all and it was great to be there, but it is a shame if you go to all that effort, not to get the good seats. I was also a bit disappointed that although the dress code is 'glamorous', I'd say about a third of the attendees actually went for the 'sparkle' factor and this made no difference whatsoever regarding seats. There was a VIP guest in the front row wearing a suit that looked like he had slept in it!

are you going to instruct us in 2 dances this year last year you started 9 nov 2009

  • Comment number 18.

I Enjoy the programme very much, but cannot understand why Bruce Forsythe constantly takes up so much of the programme with out of date humour and incessant chat that disrupts my enjoyment. As a result of the time he is talking we have restricted time to hear the comment's of the judges. Please, Please put him in a retirement wheelchair and give us a break.

  • Comment number 19.

I applied for a Strictly audience ticket but unfortunately did not receive one, but, when I was using Ebay someone was selling tickets for auction at £550+ ,its a pity true fans miss out with type of "fan",I hope next year someone can sort this problem out.

  • Comment number 20.

Every saturday we follow the show from Belgium and we love it. Last night Patsy Kensit her dance was so beautiful, we had tears in our eyes.
She is for us on the second please on the leaderbord but nr.one for us is Matt Baker. Please disqualify Ann Widdecombe this is a serious contest.

My daughter and I are recently returned from Blackpool, tired and still smiling from a wonderful day and evening. We queued from 9:30ish, however the time went by quickly, others waiting to get in were excited, enthusiastic and entertaining in themselves, a great atmosphere before the doors opened to the Tower Ballroom. The celebrity and professional dancers who came out for photographs and autographs during the day, were truly professional and made the experience all the more worthwhile. It was an unexpected bonus for both myself and my daughter and we really enjoyed the opportunity to get just that little bit closer to all our favourites, thank you.
And then a fantastic show, brilliantly organised and executed. My words do little justice to the spectacular event. Thank you very much to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã, or whoever allocated the tickets to me.

I will be watching tonight but my finger will hover over the "off" button , if Ann doesn't go I will never watch again !! she was so undignified and not funny last night

Watched the show as usual in Almere/Holland. Pity that we cannot get the I player of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã for this. Ann is really a disaster and has to step out by herself. Its really a comedy but not with presence in this show with marvellous dancers left over (besides Ann ofcourse). I realize that the public takes the phone to vote for her to get the Jury and a lot of people crazy of eager.
Bruce have to tell his jokes more understandable for foreigners please, because he is mumling sometimes and the we cannot understand.
We love the show!Perfect and professional performance! Compliments from Holland fans.

  • Comment number 25.

Chris Almere Holland: By the way: Len is really out of his mind in judging, want to be the opposite of Graig. I am not always content with the explanations of Graig, but at least he is honest in his judgements, Len is also joking like Ann.

  • Comment number 26.

I love Strictly, I count down the days to the start every year, and never miss a programme. I also really enjoyed watching Ann at first and found her quite entertaining, but I'm sorry Ann it's now time to go, it's getting embarrassing to watch, and a very unlady like performance this week. Lots of very good dancers are going at the expense of 'entertainment'!!! I'm sorry but my entertainment is watching fantastic dancing, or at least people who are trying really hard to get into the spirit of the dance.
Come on Strictly, enough is enough, time to go back to Politics Ann.

  • Comment number 27.

I would like to say I agree with what Winston 5998 said. We also were at Blackpool and although we did throughly enjoy the show we felt that it was unfair for members of the public and true fans of the show to travel long distances and some to stay over and then queue for hours to find that Ö÷²¥´óÐã guests walked straight in to the best seats.Luckily the weather was kind because how you could look glamorous if it had rained or been windy I dont know. I noticed that a lady who had been first in the queue was sat about five rows back on the dance floor, but yet some others who came afer her were on the front row at the other side of the floor, how can that be fair? I also agree that it took the warm up man a few attempts to get those in view on the floor to show enthusiasm and some of them disappeared when not recording, yet everyone was told not to leave your seats. The other thing I didnt think was needed with was introducing show family members who were in the audience eg Tess Dalys in laws and then people applauded - why ? Only rubbed it in that they also had seats that others could have. I know you could say that the celebrities and production familys and friends etc want to see them in the show but I dont see how they deserve priority over anyone else. Yes the tickets are free but the rest of the costs are not and there is always the chance that you might not get in.
Can I say that the general manager of Blackpool Tower did a wonderful job entertaining us all in The Tower Circus as we were waiting to be moved through as did his staff.
I would like to end by saying we have experienced similiar at other Ö÷²¥´óÐã events where seats were reserved for Ö÷²¥´óÐã and guests, one which we paid to get into, so I hope someone from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã is reading and taking on board comments.

Strictly is becoming a joke that has worn just too thin. We know the rules allow the viewers to keep who they like in the competition but either this is a dance competition or it is a novelty show act. We now face the weekly ritual of Ann being kept in by viewers having a laugh at her expense, whilst people who clearly are better dancers are eliminated. Just rename the programme 'Game for a laugh'because clearly no matter how well you dance bears no relation as to who stays in the programme.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

It is going to get to the stage where one of the really decent dancers gets voted off and Ann and Gavin stay in.
Ann was so proud of having the lowest Samba score in the history of Strictly she has to go she has no intention of even trying to do any of the dance steps come on Anton start getting her to dance or at least try I am fed up with the so called comedy factor. and Gavin cannot take criticism his face when the judges were making their comments he is useless.
If this week Gavin or Ann do not go I am not watching it anymore .
I do hope Pamela and matt are in the final they are by far the best and deserve to be top of the leader board.

  • Comment number 31.

My last comment was refused am not sure why as I hadn't swore I only commented on ann saying it was time she moved on look at all the real dancers being voted out Come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã its time you intervened here you are taking our money to vote I was totally disgusted and like craig only giving an honest opinion

  • Comment number 32.

well thanks at last moderators ,but I have found that I can talk about yellow cannaries on this part of yuour site so in future will post my comments there........../blogs/strictlycomedancing/2010/11/strictly-results-show-week-8--.shtml

Ann Widdecombe wants to win the show this proves to me, she has got no respect for the other celebrities the ones that are really trying and improving each week she's making a very good role model the less you do the more you get no wonder, she was a politician.

  • Comment number 34.

    Hi Strictly Team,
My wife and I thoroughly enjoy each programme and long may it continue. The professional dancers are marvellous and under their tuition the progress of the celebrities is nothing short of astonishing. We've listened with great pleasure to the singers who sit with the band and have heard them, series after series, sing beautifully every type and mood of songs. Mr Forsythe always gives them a brief mention during his intro but we only see an all too fleeting glimpse of them sitting in the shadows with the excellent band, and yet their efforts and professionalism sets the mood for the dancers. Have any of the singers recorded any their songs to CD and if not why not, and if so where can we obtain them? We'd sooner listen to them singing than some of the star performers you get on stage to boost sales of their latest CDs.
Again thank you all for great entertainment

Well we had a fantastic time in Blackpool! We were at the front of the queue well 9 and 10th to be precise and we really did not have the best seats in the house but we meet some truely fantastic people not just the stars of the show who came out to chat and chatted after the show too but the people who we queued with! We had lots of fun and the 6 hours waited time whizzed by. It would have been marvellous to have great seats and the Ö÷²¥´óÐã really do need to rethink how they organise seating, but the atmosphere was electric!
Thank you "front of the queue gang" for making my birthday surprise extra special. x
