There are still repercussions from the last time the Ö÷²¥´óÐã and other bodies decided that someone was "too popular" to bring to charges against.
Just because we enjoy top gear it does not mean that we should allow this type of behaviour to go on.
All those who are petitioning to keep Clarkson should think about whether they would "turn the other cheek" if a colleague assaulted them at work. I'm guessing not.
If Clarkson has assaulted anyone then he has brought the Corporation into disrepute. I believe he is only contracted talent so contract with someone else to take his place..... Angus Deayton was successfully replaced by guest presenters and the show could then go on - and still goes on many years later.
If clarkson has not overstepped expected levels of decent behaviour then put him back on our screens.

    Valid point, I agree.

No one but NO ONE should be above the law.

If what he did would get any other ordinary Joe Blogs fired then he needs to be fired.

If what he did would *not* be a normal firing offence for any other ordinary Joe Blogs then let the rest of the TG programmes be aired as planned.

Money / influence / popularity should never overrule the law as it would be for the rest of the population.

The mistakes of the past should not be repeated.

    Ah, but it does.

The mistakes of the past should not be repeated

Ah, but they are ad nauseam.

The saddest aspect of this whole affair is that half a million people have signed an E Petition that basically says, "Let Clarkson flaunt the law (if guilty) because we like his television show and he makes a lot of money." It's not just the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's values on trial here, it's society's as well. smiley - sadface

We're also rapidly approaching the point where it takes over this board smiley - laugh

As a result I'm going to close some of the shorter threads, including this one.
