Arf is the 16-year-old son of Simon and Ruth and has a 12-year-old brother named Paul. is his best friend; they’ve known each other since they were little, although recently they have both found themselves drifting apart. His father Simon is a violent bully, which dominates the Price family home life and fills Arf with an impotent, murderous rage. Simon calls Arf 'Pizza Face' on account of his acne, and delights in taunting and humiliating both his sons. The other main concern in Arf’s life is Gaia; the girl who has stolen his heart.

Joe Hurst is quickly gathering credits in both TV and film, having appeared in the 主播大秀 biopic of Dame Shirley Bassey in 2011 and the film adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful in 2012.

In 2016, Joe will appear in the sequel to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass.
