Disappointingly, I have been unable to trace a country version of Strangers In The Night so all help would be appreciated. I have this idea that if it works for guitar heros then it's a universal song which can fit every theme and we can hear a version every night this week.

But..... what I'd really like to hear is..

Sleeping By the Ferris River - Ann Brun all the way from Norway comes some great songwriting and fantastic slide guitar - from the album, Live In Stockholm. Just magnificent, luminous,unmissable. Try it.

We have had blues nights before. I think one was really quite good too...or maybe I'm delirious! (I'm fed up being grumpy and am trying to be positive)

I'm delighted we're finally going to get our blues night, Norrie - I just wish they had the courage to go all out. Then have soul another evening. I don't think that's a lot to ask - blues music has been around, evolving and influencing for well nigh 100 years; I should have thought there was scope and diversity enough to fill a couple of hours without putting nervous listeners off their spinach risotto.

However, at the moment I'm grateful for what we're about to receive.

Sorry to get all whatever - but, OMG! That's one handsome lad in that there photie. And he's singing country?? Eh? That can't be right. I thought all male country artists were (and looked) drink-addled and full of tales of misspent youth passed them by. Not living in the same country. And the women? Nothing but hard-luck stories of being mistreated by good 'uns gone wrong, drink-addled, youth passed them by. There might have been a tractor in there, somewhere, too. Or a combine harvester. But him??? I must be older and more cynical than I thought.


Anyways - I've read enough of fellow bloggers comments to realise country is sacred here and they know their stuff. I do like it too, but am very much a novice. Am going to avoid any klangers and just reask for one:

We had a soul night last year which was superb and i suspect this will be much the same with a couple of token tracks from nina simone thrown in. Thinl nlues should have had its own night but probably wouldnt have suited the mass aufience. Just font give us guy mitchell or fergus singing as eccuse for blues theme.

And Milnagvie Folk Club - judging by the sample audience who had piled into the Cross Keys for a pint to avoid the warm up acts, it was all beards and jumpers?

I hadn't been in the Croos Keys for years and it certainly has turned itself round, though Smiffy and myself escaped before the Staus Quo tribute act came on.One of the folkies at the bar almost had an epiphany and stayed to watch the tribute band. I was speaking to one of the guys involved and he was teling me what a huge Jack Bruce fan he was. I didn't think this possible - maybe there's more to Quo than meets the eye?

Good to see you - Miss B, there's a pub in the locality that might be worth going to!
