Liking the addict portrayal. Excellent idea about explaining why bagged blood won't work...I'm sure lots of people out there must have thought loads of times why Mitchell didn't just help himself to the hospital supplies.

Thanks for the teaser! Kind of negates the promo picture (of Mitchell holding bagged blood), though, doesn't it? Maybe this blood is a second best, though... (and the less gory promo idea!)

Seeing this, though (and I think I've said this elsewhere here, so I don't want to keep banging on about it), I can't help thinking Aiden Turner could act more intense at times like these. Maybe I'm just comparing it to Guy Flanagan's portrayal in the pilot, but I still don't see a 120-year-old person there with baggage (deaths, addiction, responsibility of Lauren, etc). Heck, even Russell, who's just been a werewolf for a few years, brings more intensity when it's needed. And so does the girl playing Lauren sometimes. This isn't a slight on Aiden - I think he's excellent in the role, brings humanity and wit to it - but just *sometimes* I don't see that hidden depth, that history, when I can't help thinking I should be able to.

Just to say also on Lauren, I prefer her here, being less vampy than she was in the pilot - she's more real this way.

Have to say I don't agree with purpley_g about Lauren at all. In the pilot the female vampire was sexy, in the series she isn't at all. The actress does get across the blood lust and, I suppose, a sort of playfulness and delight about being a vampire which is good. But I would far rather see a more sexy vamp. And would just like to point out that I am actually a girl, so it's not just me being a typical man(!), I just genuinely think the new Lauren has a lot less appeal - and still reminds me of Janine Butcher in Eastenders!

As I have said elsewhere, I think Aidan will grow into the role as time goes on and, in a way, it'd be far worse if he tried to 'be' Guy. He has to find his own way of portraying him. But I do utterly agree that with Guy you could absolutely believe he had lived for a long time and had seen many things, whereas with Aidan you don't yet get that sense of age, 'seen it all before', tired acceptance of everlasing life. However, in the above scene, this begins to come through I think. I like the fact that Mitchell almost seems stronger in his resistance to the addiction, as a result of having to care for Lauren with her relatively new blood lust. I think, here, you do start to believe he is an older vampire. Can't wait for Episode 3!

I absolutely love Aidan and Mitchell and it pains me to find fault but i do slightly perhaps a little bit agree about the age thing...he doesnt come across as a 100 year old man in a 25 year olds body but then thats maybe down the company he keeps - when hes with Herrick he is "the young one" and he does act almost childlike and when hes with George and Annie he is a 25 year old and hes living as one so acts as one the only time i think his age and wisdom come through is when hes with Lauren because she then becomes the young one and the child. not sure if any of that makes sense but kinda think it works well and perhaps the way he dresses and speaks and acts are purposefully modern and dont show his age at all because he has to blend in and he has to not let it show and its the whole thing of blending into modern society.

by the way i say 25 not sure exactly how old he is but its easier than saying 20 something all the time lol and he looks about that :-)

Yeah I also thought that about episode 3 - why did the promo picture show Mitchell with a bag of blood if its no good lol oh well a small tiny blip that i think we can cope with :-) i guess itd be pretty difficult for everyone involved in the show to know everything either that or Toby didnt think of the bagged blood thing til episode 3? mind you i think he woulda done hmm god knows then lol

I think the blood is supposed to be a rubbish alternative - like Methadone for crack addicts - but Mitchell seems to have tried to go down the more sensible route of cold turkey rather than tryin the weightwatchers substitute blood way.

Also totally agreed about Lauren, the way she looks and a lot of her mannerisms ad character in general are like a much hotter version of Janine Butcher - it works though
