    Yay first to comment :)

  • Comment number 2.

    Second to comment - I can't think of a question!

  • Comment number 3.

    Ha ha... typo.

  • Comment number 4.

    If is possible would you like to bring back annie and mitchell in future series ,but not in flashbacks?

  • Comment number 5.

    Will we see anymore of "Hal's dark side" in the coming series?? I'm sure it would be devastating, yet exciting???

  • Comment number 6.

    Well, well, so as stated on the earlier blog, my question would be:

    Hallo Mr. Whitehouse. We've been wondering what happens to the BH-vampires when they get "Proper dead". Do they end up in the same afterlife as humans and werewolf? Or don't they get any afterlife at all? Because we've never been shown a vampires spirit or their door.

  • Comment number 7.

    No question. How do you question After an episode like that? just a statement;- Mr Toby Whitehouse you have created a wonderfully entertaining series long may it continue.

  • Comment number 8.

    @Toby Whitehouse. Ok, here's my question...
    Everyone in BH Universe has their 'journey'. What is yours?

  • Comment number 9.

    The more I look at the photo, the scarier Annie gets..... *runs off and hides in corner*

  • Comment number 10.

    Ooh Question time! I had some good ones the other day, should have written them down haha... *puts thinking cap on*

    @bh4eva (137 previous blog) I wondered that.. All that prophecy and the scrolls and the war child and the end of all vampires.. It seems to have only been about the OOs after all, and even then only the ones who were in that building. Hal survived obviously, and sure at least a couple of the others must have got out just in time!

  • Comment number 11.

    @Hanniefan
    I agree seeing more of annie and mitchell, or even george and nina, would be great

  • Comment number 12.

    Will we get to see a werewolf uprising in the next series? I'm really hoping that they'll get a chance to show that they can be just as deadly as the vampires instead of always being seen as lesser supernatural creatures.

  • Comment number 13.

    @Mistress Rebecca
    Ah, don't worry, your rare typos are in good company here ;) We produce lots of them ourselves.
    And thx for organicing this Q&A with Lord Toby :) very much obliged we are.

  • Comment number 14.

    Hey. How difficult was the decision to write Annies ending? How did Lenora react? Merci :)

  • Comment number 15.

    Questions Errrmmmmm

    *Do you have a favourite charater in the show? if yes who and why?

    *Where do you get your awesome ideas?

    *Will we ever see any of the orianal cast again? Should ask the guys if they would like to do a one off return.

    *Whats your favourite episode you have written? or any of the others?

    Im so rubbish at asking questions but i hope at least one gets answered,

    Thanks Rebecca x

  • Comment number 16.

    Question for Toby: I know the fandom was crushed that we didn't get to see Eve grow up and have a semi-normal life and wacky primary school antics, despite the rightness of Annie's exit. Do you think the other stages of parenthood will ever be explored on Being Human, or is this as far as you think we'll go?

  • Comment number 17.

    OK I'm going to try a question, probably one of my usual ridiculously complicated questions, but here goes;

    In this series it has felt almost as if the fans are the ghosts, being passed gradually from old familiars to new ones (from George and Annie, overlapping on to Tom and Hal) so that we were still attached to Being Human even when Annie left, and didn't disperse and float away! Were you aware of that analogy as you were planning Series 5?

    There, hope it's ok. :o)

  • Comment number 18.

    Ok, I have a few questions, I'd be happy if any of them are answered.

    What effect does Kia-Ora have on Hal?

    What did Annie whisper to Owen in series 1?

    Are we finished with the Old Ones, will the original vampire brothers ever feature?

  • Comment number 19.

    @Toby Whithouse - Has writing for series 5 started yet? If not, do you have ideas for the plot and guest writers etc.

  • Comment number 20.

    Isn't Lord Toby's last name "Whithouse" instead of "Whitehouse"? *confused look*

  • Comment number 21.

    @Mister W: Just this

    *standing ovation* :-)))))))))))

    clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
    clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
    clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
    clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

  • Comment number 22.

    @20. Thats the typo Laminamara

  • Comment number 23.

    A question from the FIRST bloggers (Fang-tastic International Research Scientific Team)
    In your show, scientists who should be neutral observents of facts and not passing moral judgements on biological events such as the change of a human being going through heart/kidney/liver failure to become a werewolf are shown to be dubious religious zealots deprived of charity but endowed with a hidden agenda.
    Will your show at one moment be asking the question as 'why' without being given the lame excuse of 'it is a curse'...

  • Comment number 24.

    Lord Toby, would it be possible to see Hal after one of his Kia-Ora sessions??

  • Comment number 25.

    Ok, I have a question. It just popped into my head right now, and is a bit rubbish but:

    What happens when a ghost tries to change into different clothes?

  • Comment number 26.

    Ooh I've got tonnes of questions!

    @TobyWhitehouse 1. Firstly, well done for the series' past and present i am a HUGE fan and have been since the beginning- - i was watching on Sunday night, obviously! and was thinking, when the man in the grey suit, the 'cleaner', was speaking to the blonde girl from the nightclub, his reflection in the mirror was fuzzy - was this an arty camera shot or a clue to what people like the man in grey are? basically i get that they're not a supernatural in the sense we know but are they totally human?

    Please answer! and thanks in advance! Well done to you and all associated with BH - roll on Series 5! xx

  • Comment number 27.

    Question for Toby:

    The voice singing 'New York, New York' on the radio at the beginning of episode 1 has been a constant source of disagreement on the blog this series. Now that Annie stopped that version of the future can you tell us who that voice was? Was it someone we know or just a possible future threat?

    There are many cupcake riding on this answer.

    Thanks x

  • Comment number 28.

    @Toby Whitehouse
    Who was the vampire singing New York, New York on the radio in 2037 in episode 1? (Just because there's been so many guesses on the blog I want to know even if it's not important for the new future)

  • Comment number 29.

    @23 Saint

    Lovely question, I'd love to see the science behind Being Human much more.

  • Comment number 30.

    Hi Rebecca.
    I can't think of an excellent questions, so here's a selection of random questions to choose from instead:

    1. Hal & the KiaOra - What exactly happens, and/or will we see the effects in S5?
    2. Just who was the voice of the vampire on the radio in Ep1 (It's been driving us all bonkers)
    3. Also who was the face on the poster for the Vampires in Ep1 (Just driving me bonkers)
    4. Leo & Pearl - Were they WW/Ghost before they met each other? How did they met?
    5. Was the backbone of Hal's storyline going to be Mitchell's if he stayed? Or did you have to start from scratch after Aidan left / Damien joined
    6. Fave Ep / Character (in general or to write for)

    I'm sure I'll think of some better ones later

  • Comment number 31.

    @Jamie - I'd love to know what happens then

  • Comment number 32.

    @TobyWhitehouse

    Being Human was amazing this series! I'm so happy how the new characters were introduced and handled.

    What about Becoming Human?
    I noticed on the clipboard at the end of yesterday's episode Rathbourne school was on the list... does this mean anything? Is it never coming back?

  • Comment number 33.

    Just thought of a few questions:
    1.After the destruction of vampires, will the whole future be rewritten or will some elements stay the same?(dont say too much)
    2.Is afterlife the same with vampires, because im sure we'd all love to see annie and mitchell back together again??
    3.Which of the original characters do you think, personally or otherwise, will be most missed?
    Oh, and quickly, a massive pat on the back (followed by a standing ovation) fabulous series, the development of the characters was amazing, well done!!

  • Comment number 34.

    @Summer-Lili
    I'm too interested in what that clipboard thingy all means, although i'm sure we'll find out next series.
    However, I would absolutely LOVE to see a new Becoming Human

  • Comment number 35.

    @ Toby Whithouse: just want to say thanks for giving us this brilliant show!

    I'll leave the questions to all the longtime bloggers.

  • Comment number 36.

    (I'm just wondering? Will we be spaming the Q&A blog now or will we only post questions here and continue our dicussions on the old blog?)

  • Comment number 37.

    @bh4eva

    I know! me too! I keep rewatching it and taking screen snaps so I can read it all.
    It would be helpful if the blog posted a picture of it *hint* ;)

    A new Becoming Human would be so awesome!

  • Comment number 38.

    Ooh! Another question! We've had two guys and a girl, two guys and two girls, then two guys and a girl again. Do you think the format will ever shift to be two girls and a guy? Not that I won't openly weep if we lose Tom or Hal ever.

  • Comment number 39.

    Please keep Hal/Damien in the series for another couple of years, if the series last that long, cos i really dont want him to leave.

  • Comment number 40.

    Congratulations on a wonderful Series 4 and the commission of series 5! Thank you for another wild series!

    Sorry, but cannot limit it to one:

    1. If the men with sticks and rope slam shut the door to creativity, leaving you staring at a blank page, do you have a particular trick you use to open the door again?

    2. Have you (or one of your characters) ever written yourself into a corner, and if so, how did you escape?

    3. Hal and Mitchell are very different characters. What were the most interesting and the most difficult aspects for you in writing each of them?

    4. Now that S4 is complete, a great success, and S5 is commissioned, what will you shop for?

    Thanks for taking time to answer our questions. Hope this isn't coming out of that hour's break you take to lie on the floor...

  • Comment number 41.

    A few more (I'll try stop after these ;D)

    1. Is Cutler, Nick Cutler "Proper dead"?
    2. Where on earth do you find all these wonderful actors? (especially as you seem to cast a lot of newcomers & well as established stars)
    3. Are we right in assuming Kate/Alex is joining HH as part of the new trio?

    Also - well done Sir for creating, establishing, & continuing with a fantastic show
    *salutes you*

  • Comment number 42.

    Hello Toby..my question(s) relate to Mr Rook and his 'associates'. Does Mr Rook have a role beyond 'domestic duties'...ie is he a Watcher or a Guardian of all things supernatural? In Eps 8 it was indicated that he and others like him had been around for 'a very long time' ...and that 'most' supernaturals are not aware of his/their presence...so who is aware of his presence? What do Mr Rook and associates gain from their work?....and finally...are we going to see their significance in series 5? ( congrats on that by the way!)

  • Comment number 43.

    I think i'l try to stop soon!!
    But will there, after the destruction, be more vamps in the new series, will the destruction of even worked???

  • Comment number 44.

    What's your favourite series so far?

  • Comment number 45.

    @Lord Toby - who exactly was waiting for Annie and Eve at the other side of the door. Was HE there? With huge appreciation for yet another fantastic series. Well done to the whole crew. M who? Who knew! Much love from Sasha :-D xxx

  • Comment number 46.

    The little girl old one didnt seem to be there when the warehouse blew did the little girl old one who i assume is hettie escape as she walked out of the room before hand and red suit was on the floor when annie and alex came in meaning she could have escaped as she wasnt unconcious beside him?

  • Comment number 47.

    Thanks for an amazing series 4, & I very much look forward to the next one.
    1)Were you always planning to show more of Tom, or was it a decision that came when Russell & Sinead left?
    2)Had Russell & Sinead stayed would the Hal character (or any new "friendly" vamp) have been introduced or would it just have been George/Annie/Nina vs. The Old Ones?

  • Comment number 48.

    @41 LouLou22: can I second your first question? Thanks.

  • Comment number 49.

    @TobyWhithouse

    First of all, congratulations on series four and also the commission for series 5, richly and completely deserved.

    I can't keep to one question so i have three!

    1) Who will rise? is it Mr Snow, is it Hal, is it someone completely different?

    2) How do you feel about fan fiction, more specifically to amateur writers dabbling in your sandbox and playing with your characters?

    3) For season five, you can have anyone as a guest star, who would you choose, who is on your ultimate wishlist and what would you cast him/her as?

    Thank you and take care...onward to season five!!!

  • Comment number 50.

    Hello Rebecca, thanks for this opportunity.

    SunnyFLA, great questions.

    Questions:

    1. At what point do you start writing/developing the new series? (I imagine you must have to have some rough ideas while filming the previous series in order to insert the 'teaser' at the end of the last episode.)

    2. Who decides how many episodes there will be in a season? Is there a specific reason (other than budget) that the next series will have six?

    3. How long have you known that Lenora Critchlow would leave at the end of this series?

    Thank you again for a brilliant series.

  • Comment number 51.

    Hi. Firstly I just wanted to say thank you for creating a show that still manages to amaze me every episode!
    But I also wanted to ask 'What was the hardest episode to write or film and why?'

  • Comment number 52.

    I'd like to congratulate Toby on a superb fourth series and for finding Damien for Hal, 'promoting' Tom and hopefully Alex will stay too. I would have liked Cutler to stay but it appears he's 'proper dead' - or at least I wouldn't like to see him in S5 the way we last saw him - ewwww.
    Congratulations on S5 but (Q) why oh why only six episodes? (I suspect the answer to that one is the beastly budget.)

  • Comment number 53.

    @ Lord Toby -

    * the young girl who accompanied the OOs - was she Hetty?

    * it's been mentioned that Hal and Tom shall return for S5. What about Alex - will she be the new ghost of the family?

    And again many thanks for another wonderful series. Who knew we would all become so invested in a show about a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost? And now the countdown to S5 begins............tick, tock! Much love, Sasha xxx

  • Comment number 54.

    @Lord Toby

    Ive been thinking about the Old Ones

    What does it actually take to be an old one? it has to be more than age because Ivan was one when he was in his 80s and Regus wasn't one even though he was over 400!

    Also, when you first introduced the idea of the old ones in series 2, did you plan out about Mr Snow and Hal etc or did the idea just evolve?

    And finally (don't answer this if its a spoiler) did the young girl Old One (presumably Hettie) survive the bomb?

    Thank you, and congratulations on yet another amazing series, and best of luck with making series 5 :)

  • Comment number 55.

    @Lord Toby: Please! I would love to see Becoming Human come back again, I followed that every single day and commented so often. I followed it religiously.

    But will there be any return of it? Anything at all? Please?

  • Comment number 56.

    Dear Lord Toby: It often seems to bloggers that you are referencing things talked about on the blog or snippets about the cast. Is this so or is it just our desire to see the "in" jokes?

  • Comment number 57.

    To the people complaining about only 6 episodes in series 5,
    I know its sad but 6 episodes are better than none and I think some people are forgetting that series 1 only had 6 episodes and that, in my opinion will always be the best series.

  • Comment number 58.

    Right questions For Lord Toby

    hope I'm not copying only had a skim before posting more to come later.

    Well first a follow up to the first question LT answered 2 years ago.

    You recommended a werewolf book 'Bareback' Thanks for the recommendation by the way. Anyway with the number of Werewolf movies being made did you know that in production is a film called 'Benighted' in production Benighted being the American title of the book. Just thought you'd like to know.

    Now the questions,

    Is there a chance of a pack appearing in any future series?

    The men in Grey will we find out how they're connected to CenSSA?

    How goes the plans for the sort of Super Hero series you were working on? ears are seriously pricked on this one.

    We have guessed that with the majority of Old Ones acting out the lyrics to a Bob Dylan song about answers that the Vampires might be in a bit of disarray - So will this change how they act around werewolves? better or worse will be something to debate on the blog for a year.

    Ghosts and the door, corridors and rooms, what comes next or will there just be hints?

  • Comment number 59.

    Were there any fears from the team, or questions raised by the Ö÷²¥´óÐã, about the killing of the baby? We all suspected this would happen, but raised the question about how it would be received by TPTB at the Beeb.

    Nikki x

  • Comment number 60.

    @LordToby Where you expecting Cutler's character to become so popular? There's quite a few bloggers that are hoping he's not 'got proper dead' or if there might be a flashback with Hal or two again.

    What does Kia Ora do to Hal?

    Were you worried about loosing fans before the first two episodes of S4 were shown?

  • Comment number 61.

    @TobyWhithouse

    Firstly, congratulations :) I'm looking forward to Series 5 already!

    My question is, is there any chance of somebody one day making a definitive set of facts about some of the less well-known characters? People who have either died or are not involved in the series in the series any more, so it wouldn't affect spoilers or anything. I'm thinking of people like Fergus - he was an amazingly sinister character, but we don't know his surname, age, maker, or loads of other important facts. I know it probably won't interest most viewers, but it would put some of our die-hard blogger's minds at rest, a bit like a form of closure for these fantastic characters.

    Well done again, and thank you for doing this Q&A :)

  • Comment number 62.

    Thank you for yet another brilliant series Lord Toby. Loved it!

    What I would like to know is, as a *coughs* multi award winning *coughs* writer, where does the award of Cupcakes From The Blog rank among your other awards?

  • Comment number 63.

    amazing series well done and thank you for writing it i cant wait for the next one! :) i have a couple of questions...
    what happens when Hal drinks Kia Ora?
    why cant ghosts chang their clothes?
    do vampires have a ghost after they die? or does it go to the other world when they are first changed? or does it just fade away? thank you :)

  • Comment number 64.

    @Toby
    I just want to say this series has been amazing, I personally think it was the best series so far! It certainly went out with a bang (sorry about the pun). Im so glad theres going to be a series 5! :D
    Anyway my questions:
    - Do you ever worry that Being Human maybe seen as a 'teenage supernatural' programme (although it obviously isn't!) than a relatable supernatural drama?
    - How hard do you find it creating characters? Is it just you and the writers who develop characters or do you work with the actors to develop the character?
    - Did the Asian twin vampires in ep1 have any significance to the storyline?

    Thank you to Toby and Rebecca for doing thins Q&A.

  • Comment number 65.

    Congratulations Toby on another wonderful series and on being recommissioned for series five.

    Too many things I’d like to ask but have managed to edit the list down (a bit)...

    1. What’s the one piece of advice – good or bad - you’ve been given as a writer that has really stuck with you?

    2. Why did you decide to reverse Hal and Cutler? In early interviews/publicity it was Cutler who was due to move into Honolulu Heights.

    3. How much back story do you have for characters, story that we are never intended to see? How much develops alongside the character?

    4. I’ve yet to see a favourite character survive beyond a series end – Herrick (twice), Ivan, Wyndam, Fergus – and now Cutler. Are you doing it on purpose? I’m starting to get a complex...

    Thanks!

  • Comment number 66.

    @TobyWhithouse
    Congratulations on another terrific series early on -

    My question: in previous series the housemates envied and clung to humanity-sometimes by their fingertips. In S4 Tom and Hal said they needed to "earn" their roles as protectors of humanity - turning their monstrous natures to good use? - (tho I think Hal said they didn't deserve that) - Is this an important part of their futures in series 5 (and beyond)? Thank you

  • Comment number 67.

    @Toby Whitehouse

    Which do you find harder to write? Killing off loved main characters or introducing new ones?

    Thanks for being brave and making Hal new, unique and not a copy of Mitchell.

  • Comment number 68.

    Trying to come up with some questions that haven't already been asked, apologies if I've accidentally repeated someone! For the record I would also like to know the answers to the much asked questions about Hal and the Kia-Ora (and whether we will ever see it!), vampires in the afterlife and most of all who was the voice on the radio??

    So. questions..

    Your characters are so brilliant and believeable, but there have been a lot of changes in the lineup so keeping the show feeling like the Being Human we all love and maintaining the continuity must have been a challenge. Have you ever had to adapt existing ideas or arcs to fit the new characters? We knew the Old Ones were interested in Mitchell in s3, if Aidan hadn't left were parts of Hal's s4 arc originally meant for him even though the characters are so different, or do you not plan that far ahead?

    One of the things I have loved about Being Human since the beginning is the brilliant use of music, not just the original score but the choice of songs used that always perfectly compliment the scene. Who chooses the tunes, are they something that is included in your scripts or are those decisions made afterwards during production?

    Do you ever get writers' block and how do you overcome it?

    You've had some amazing guest stars on the show, if you could cast anyone in a role for s5 who would it be, and who would they play?

    Is Hal the last of the Old Ones now? And does that mean he's the new Mr Snow, will the other vampires have to do as he tells them?

    Why didn't cutler disintegrate when he got kebab'd, is he actually proper dead?

    Finally I don't know if Toby will actually be reading these but if he does I'd like to say thank you for creating such a brilliant show and proving over and over again that whatever happens (and whoever leaves!) Being Human is always worth sticking around for! I was never narrow minded enough to think I wouldn't enjoy series 4 but it was even better than I expected, Tom has grown into such a loveable character and Hal, well Hal is just a stroke of genius, so much potential there! They have just blown me away and I can't wait to see what's in store for the brilliant new trio next year, I don't know how you do it but it is impossible not to love your characters!

    OK one cheeky final queston - Any tips for an aspiring screenwriter? ;)

  • Comment number 69.

    Firstly, thank you for such an awesome show! Hmmm, If you had to be one of the supernaturals in the show, what would you be? (and which are most fun to write for - do you have a favourite character?)

  • Comment number 70.

    Sorry - stray typo in my comment above - the series was terrific right through!

  • Comment number 71.

    Are you aware, when filming, that a particular character will become popular, for example Cutler? And if so, do you regret killing him off at the end of the series? I think people were more gutted at his loss than at Annie's because we felt he had so much more of a story to give in series 5, whereas Annie's story had come to a natural end.

    Nikki x

  • Comment number 72.

    Hello All. Thank you for all the appropriate Modding mods, and Mss Rebecca for hosting the blog and our hopes and dreams!
    Mr Whithouse.
    Do you find that people frequently call you Mr Whitehouse?
    This may have been answered before but apart from a few obvious bits re George killing policechap at the beginning what was the reason for the arc on poisonous ww blood which may have been hinted at before but not really revealed?
    What do the men with sticks and rope really do?
    Thank you. Last night I blubbed when Annie saw her peeps.

  • Comment number 73.

    @Rebecca Denton
    My questions for Toby!

    -- Are you planning on making a prequel for Alex, assuming she's a new resident at Honolulu Heights?

    -- She's a brilliant character - did you invent her the same way you did Allison, by finding Hal's opposite?

    -- Are the Men in Grey, Mr. Rook and co. related to the Men with Sticks and Ropes..? (LOVED the shot of Mr. Rook in the mirror by the way, showing us he's not a vamp!)

    -- Was Hal's singing your invention or written in after Damien had been cast?!

    Well done Toby, and the entire BH cast and crew, this series, this story and the new characters ... brilliant! I have complete faith that series 5 will be better still :D

  • Comment number 74.

    My question for Toby is a writing one:

    Toby, with the news of Russell leaving, and recalling where your story had been left at the end of S3, what other directions did you consider taking to complete George's story and then to deal with the presence of a baby in the house? Your decisions during this series led to Annie's story completion, but also baby Eve's - was it always your thought to dispatch Eve at the end of the series? Did you then build your plans around this? Or was there a point where you were left wondering what you were going to do with Eve's story and if your characters might be stuck bringing up baby for the next few series? :D

    Thank you
    Topo x

  • Comment number 75.

    What was your favourite scene to write in series 4 and why?

  • Comment number 76.

    More questions now I've had a bit of a think

    Due to the fact Adam and Yvonne are off into the sunset we know no becoming human but you know he would have told Christa and Matt bout HH, So if the story was right and casting schedules would you want Tom to meet another specific werewolf?

    If you could think of one cryptic sentence to describe your S5 plans designed to drive bloggers crazy be open to wild and increasingly wild speculation over it's meaning, would you tell just for fun? Yes or No?

    Will we find out who defined Types and how many are on file after all mythology has quite a few more species to go through so is there in the valt rooms a list with possible monsters just in case or is it an example of see a monster add a monster?

  • Comment number 77.

    How much does a season of Becoming Human Cost to produce? I plan on winning the lottery here in the US and am interested in paying to have this great show continue!

  • Comment number 78.

    @Toby Whitehouse

    Who was the vampire at the start of the series singing "New York new York?" It was Hal wasn't it? Wasn't it? Huh? Go on, tell us! :-)

  • Comment number 79.

    @Toby Whithouse

    Congratulations on a brilliant Series 4 and the commission for Series 5! I've loved this show since I accidentally found the first episode on Ö÷²¥´óÐã 3 in 2009 and decided to watch because the name intrigued me. It is pretty much the only must-watch programme in my house and I'm so delighted to see it continue to go from strength to strength.

    My questions are:

    - Do werewolves truly not become ghosts when they die? If not, what were we seeing when we saw Amy McBride and George?

    - Was the "young" girl OO, Hetty? If not, how and when did Hetty meet the Great Hoover Bag in the sky?

    -As Yvonne is the daughter of a demon, does this mean we will one day be properly introduced to a demon?

    - Will we ever meet the Men with Sticks and Rope?

    - When are we going to see Trolls in the BH universe?

    Thank you,
    Inch xxx

    I recently heard an interview with the lovely Damien who explained the premise behind the show was originally about a recovering sex addict, outsider and agoraphobe with a twist and that those character ideas became Mitchell, George and Annie. That in itself is just brilliant - how did you come up with that idea?! With that in mind how would you describe Nina, Hal and Tom in non-supernatural terms?

    If Lord Toby tells us what vamp was on the radio in 2037 and it turns out it WAS Hal, let it be known that i will say a massive I TOLD YOU SO! to all those who said i was wrong
    *glares, sorry, looks at all bloggers who disagreed with me*

    this is going to be really embarrassing if it turns out it wasn't him...

    And yet another question - Yes I have worked out the more questions you write the more chance of being answered.

    Is there a Monster that could be human shaped that would be too ridiculous to put in the show - something that would just be so wrong and mental that it wouldn't work? No metaphor for the human condition at all.

    I admit there is a small part of me that wants you to say Troll just for the reaction.

    1.Big question was Mitchell waiting for Annie? everyone is asking everywhere, twitter facebook etc.
    2.Was ghost Pearl connected to the other Pearl- Daisy's daughter?
    3.And who was the voice singing New York, New York?
    4. Would Eve still grow up in purgatory?

  • Comment number 85.

    How hard is it to write a character's ending just because the actor wanted to leave? Does it upset you because you feel the character has more to tell?

    Another one:

    Do you or any of the production team/writers/crew read our (slightly crazy, but meant with love) blog posts & have a giggle at how wrong our theories for each episode are?

    Right I'll have to stop thinking of questions & give others a chance to post

    We know about the vampires, werewolves, ghosts and zombies, but now we are also aware of DEMONS, no one seems to have mentioned these.
    How do they fit in the picture? Do they have their counterpart angels? Will we see demons? If they are shagging human women, they are obviously about in the world....

    @Toby

    I'd like to know what your thoughts are on fanfiction too, so please answer ruby's question. Thanks!

    You may be aware of our tendency to quote BH at every opportunity, usually to bemused family, friends and work colleagues. Do you ever slip a BH quote into everyday conversation, and what is your favourite quotable line to date?

    I have many, but most have been asked. I am left with one:

    Now that Mr. Snow has been blown to bits, is Hal the oldest living vampire?

    Kudos on a great season!!!

    Some possible questions for Mr Whithouse, mostly about the distant past:

    1) Did you ever consider remaking the pilot with the series 1 cast (since otherwise we never see them meet Annie)? Any chance of it coming out in some form on DVD?
    2) I read an interview where you said Annie, George and Mitchell were originally developed without their conflicts/life problems having supernatural elements. Were any of the newer characters created with real-world issues in mind?
    3) On that subject, the curse/infection of George and Nina could be seen as affecting relationships in the same way as HIV/AIDS. Was that very conscious, or are there are other things lycanthropy represents, such as with Tom & McNair?
    4) Is there a right mix of characters' personalities for comic effect and to say interesting things about people having to live together, and if so how do you find it?

    Some other bits and bobs:
    I don't personally get as much of a sense of place of Barry as I did of Bristol. Do you find some locations harder to write for than others, or might it be because of the production?

    Everyone consistently pronounces "werewolf" as "where-wolf" (I think the John Landis film has 3 different pronunciations). Any reason why that rather than "weir-wolf" or "whirr-wolf" (etymologically it's vir-wolf or man-wolf)?

    Finally... how does Hal use Radio 4's "You and Yours" to stay sane, when I'd expect decades of it to have the opposite effect on humans?

    I dont know if anyone else notest but the man at the begining was that Mr Johnson from the first series?

    88. love that question! incidentally, my brother's name is George and the other day he bought some jeans, you can probably guess what i said...

    Good Evening :)

    My question ....

    Will this blog die during the year or will we be fed snippets of info during the year ?????

  • Comment number 94.

    Do have another question...

    Had the great pleasure of seeing Travelling Light on 28 February at the National Theatre. Believe I spotted you - were you there? If so, did you enjoy the play? If it was not you, your doppleganger made an appearance...

    Will Cutler return? I love this character, his story is very touching...

  • Comment number 96.

    Ok Sorry for reposting this but I realised I hadn't prefixed my question at 17 with

    @Toby Whithouse, so;

    OK I'm going to try a question, probably one of my usual ridiculously complicated questions, but here goes;

  • Comment number 97.

    77 - haha! Yes please!

  • Comment number 98.

    Hi Tobey,

    Hugest fan of the series, I've been totally obsessed with this season as my housemate will attest! It's been like living with a OCD vampire! lol

    Just wanted to ask, when Annie goes through the door to see her friends, people have assumed it is George, Nina and Mitchell, does that mean that vampires can go through to the aferlife? I thought the whole point of a 'proper death' was that it was the end, no ghost, no afterlife 'peace'.
    Please put my mid at rest! I do want him and Annie together!

    bravo on genius writing!!

  • Comment number 99.

    @TobyWhithouse
    When you write the series how far ahead do you plan?

    For example, did you always plan for George and Nina to have a baby after they got together, and similarly, when Nina was pregnant did you plan for the baby to be the savior and die accordingly?

    Also, I'd just like to say thank you so much for creating such a wonderful series!

    x

    Will there definitely be a series 5, if so can we please have Cutler back?
