Hal and Leo so it looks like Hal had his own reputation. and the way he died I'm thinking he is older than Mitchell and a different type of soldier.

  • Comment number 2.

Wow. I'm impressed, nice to 'meet' you Hal.

I'm sure Toby said that when he first saw Damien, he got the same vibe from him that he got the first time he saw Aidan. I agree, i did too.

    Very interesting prequel.

  • Comment number 3.

So will we be getting more blogs with prequels? Cutler? Tom? the history of Vampires and Werewolves. This scene with two new stars gives us a chance to see the new path being human will be treading and I can't seem to wait.

  • Comment number 4.

I don't get the vibe that I got from Aidan....maybe he'll grow on me....

  • Comment number 5.

Now what can we see in this is a darker echo of the George and Mitchell meeting. This Hal is accepting the fact that he will be different people - like the dice man. (A book where the protaganists actions are out of his hands but down to the roll of the dice) He has in a way more maturity than Mitchell and at the same time a bit more of the danger.

The others are afraid of him, with Mitchell he was someone to idolise but fear that takes the game up a whole new level.

Are we preapeared for whats coming?

  • Comment number 6.

I really hope we get a Cutler prequel...would love to find out more about him. Is he on the side of the goodies or the baddies? ;) Can't wait to find out.

I agree with you Ewan, i think Hal is older than Mitchell and definitely a different kind of soldier. I assumed Mitchell started as a private and worked his way to Sergeant, was Hal an officer by any chance? I hope we find out. Oh and 'Ancestors' was playing in the background, such a haunting piece of music.

  • Comment number 7.

    @ewan
interesting you mention the dice as he plays dice on the pic of his bio character

  • Comment number 8.

Welcome to Hal! Very impressed by that scene. :-)

  • Comment number 9.

Aw I cant watch this from Ireland! So annoying!

Ruby they has put a Hal bio up, it says Hal is over 500 years old :)

  • Comment number 10.

From the clues in this prequel I have a feeling Hal is much older.

    29

  • Comment number 11.

    Hal is 500 years old

  • Comment number 12.

Oh thanks for that info...just read his bio...so Hal ends up at HH so what about Cutler then? i thought he was the one to be at HH?

    Curiouser and curiouser....

  • Comment number 13.

Oh my giddy aunt! Battle of Orsha was in 1514, which makes Hal very old indeed... Yep, most definitely excited about the new series now.

  • Comment number 14.

Orsha - That puts him being born around 1490/92 508-510 full old one material. Flash backs can be so much more now different people through centuries of life.

    Looks to be fun.

  • Comment number 15.

Just read Hal's bio! I certainly got a 'vibe' from watching the Hal clip too. Wonderful!

  • Comment number 16.

Cutler is still in it i think, though maybe not in as big a role as we thought. Isnt that him in the new pics that were released? In the main one where they appear to be in a cafe, where George is sitting at a table behind the other three. There's another person at the next table slightly further away, im pretty sure thats Andrew Gower. Can anybody confirm?

  • Comment number 17.

It's official. No Nina in this series :-( That means the whole baby thing will be wrapped up suddenly and off screen

  • Comment number 18.

Superb! How exciting - can't wait!

  • Comment number 19.

Yes it is Andrew Gower sitting at the table on the right and I think that the guy on the left is the actor who played Authur Weasley in Harry Potter! Mark Williams?

  • Comment number 20.

Its official that Nina's gone? Where did it say that? I did assume that she would be leaving, I actually think she's the death that LT hinted at, but didnt think it had actually been announced?? What did I miss??

  • Comment number 21.

The Battle of Orsha was fought on 8 September 1514, between the allied forces of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Kingdom of Poland

  • Comment number 22.

Here is a thing with Wyndams Plans to take over the world this living with Leo and Pearl - See character profile - Will be upset so his desire not to be taken over again could bring a warrior to the HH side or as the next Hal takes over a bigger threat.

"Regarding the lovely Sinead, Toby will have some more information to share with you on her departure (sniff sniff) later in the week. "

  • Comment number 24.

I'm sure it will be brilliant, and I'm excited, (loving the prequel with Hal) but I'm also feeling a bit sick and will need a few boxes of tissues!

  • Comment number 25.

AND!!! we need a start date PLEASE!!! (so I can stock up!!)

  • Comment number 26.

Well, now, back on the blog after all this time! Howdy folks. Great video there, loving the interaction between Leo and Hal. Damien Molony has a lovely accent, manages RP damned well. Am very much looking forward to the new series..is it too soon to hope for an S5?

Great to see the 主播大秀 have got the blog back up and running under new management!x

  • Comment number 27.

Very intriguing. I'm not getting "Mitchell" from him (which is a good thing), other than in the way his Irish accent seeps through the RP!

  • Comment number 28.

I'm curious now as to whether we will get to see Old Leo in being human or if there will be a funeral for an old friend?

There is something to think about.

  • Comment number 29.

Not in my area. Not surprised, but still feeling rather miffed. Hmph.

  • Comment number 30.

hello hal, fingers crossed not long till S4

  • Comment number 31.

    Nina news

  • Comment number 32.

Digital spy also has a list of guest stars for this series. I'm just going to wait and see.

  • Comment number 33.

and more characters played by great actors

  • Comment number 34.

    @32 & 33
    yay Mr weasley

  • Comment number 35.

    OH MY! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Hello and welcome to Hal - wonder (as Ewan says) if Leo will be 'in it'.
Poor Sinead hasn't done any filming at all for S4 then. This must be the shocking death surely - Wonder if Wyndham will kill her off as George's punishment for killing his attack dog? Or maybe she won't survive Fuzzy's birth and Fuzzy does survive the birth but is born all WW like so G has to kill him as an only option. Then G goes completely mental - well he does look quite mental in the pics, don't you think? I'm ranting..........I know........can't wait!

    math+++

    prequel 1955...

werewolves, we know they 'age', if Leo is 20 in 1955 roughly then in 2012 he is 76... the character is an old seasoned and wise werewolf... interesting

  • Comment number 38.

36 - Hi Saint - just popped back to post the same link! Already spending too much time here and S4 hasn't even started yet........

  • Comment number 39.

When i said i got a Mitchell vibe from Hal, it's in the performance and also i suppose in the writing. Listening to Hal, i could very well imagine Mitchell saying the same thing but that's as far as it goes. I'm looking forward to what S4 reveals.

  • Comment number 40.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait! When does it start again? :)

  • Comment number 41.

    @the cross hi

do not worry all posts from newcomers are first checked over by the mods
in a few minutes all will be all right

any how welcome, interesting times isn't it!

  • Comment number 42.

Looking for link to the new Hal vid - look what I found...

  • Comment number 43.

And Sage: glad you liked Vienna :-)

At my current town of residence not a single snow flake, but 1 hour away: booom! Closed roads and railway lines, people shut down in villages, high probability of avalanches and loads of snow on roof tops.

  • Comment number 44.

As somebody who gets their SFX delivered I now know what to expect from the blog this year. I wont spoil it and say but giddy does not even come close to what we can expect.

  • Comment number 45.

Ooh err Ewan. Sounds good - sounds great - sounds fantastic! Thanks.

  • Comment number 46.

@and then they were... three as now the blog pic is limited to DM/MS/LC

or is it more as the page for the characters has two more unattributed slots...

Hal with Leo? and ... Pearl?

  • Comment number 47.

Well, I wasn't too sure about this series of BH. I was a bit disappointed about all the actors who are leaving..... But I think this prequel has sold it to me! Roll on series 4 :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  • Comment number 48.

Eve the baby?? Is it Nina's ??

  • Comment number 49.

Lots of juicy stuff to get our teeth into (sorry!), just finished reading the press pack, and yes, I'm liking the 'new' look...There are interviews with the cast and if you really really don't want any spoilers, then don't read!

  • Comment number 51.

Also noticed that all the photos seem to be taken in a cafe: perhaps some of them will be working there or even running it? Reckon Annie would be good at making the teas...

  • Comment number 52.

I was going to wait till the blog announced them but oh well now they're out there on the blog I may as well share my first thoughts now.

    1 鈥淓ve Of The War鈥
This is where we find out what plans are made opening salvo.
My guess Tom is in moving house while the other werewolves are somewhere else. We might also be seeing Hal leave his house for the first time - has something happened to Leo?

    2 鈥淏eing Human 1955鈥
I smell Flashbacks 鈥 Probably for Hal 鈥 Interesting I can't stop thinking of 2001 when I hear that.
We will want him to have a story know where he stands from Ghost - Pearl Vampire - Hal and Werewolf - Leo living together? will we get to see their first meeting will Leo know about Ghosts or will he have been kept away from ghosts by the vampires?

    3 鈥淭he Graveyard Shift鈥
New Vampires waking up or Zombies again?
Now we've had hints that Zombies might be involved. So has someone else been wedging doors open? Who knows?
Or is this indeed Leo and why Hal is moving to a new house? Paying Vigil for an old friend.

    4 鈥淎 Spectre Calls鈥
Sometimes it feels like somebodies Haunting you.
How in the picture we see a ghost police officer standing of to the side - The play is where all the characters are shown their parts in evil in the front room so is this another Longest Day with the Truth being laid bare?

    5 鈥淗old The Front Page鈥
Exposure? Now there have been rumours 鈥 not on the blog so will keep quiet but after all with all that's happened a reporter for a conspiracy publication nosing around for something? What ever it is beside the police officer is Mark Williams is he the reporter?

    6 鈥淧uppy Love鈥
Somebody for Tom? After all if Russell is leaving and we know that Tom is no longer on his Fathers leash then his first girlfriend will be a story. Will we meet a new Nina? who is perfect for Tom or at least able to mess with Tom's mind?

    7 鈥淢aking History鈥
Some vampire announcing to the world? Or a werewolf spotted? Back to episode 5.

    8 鈥淭he War Child鈥
Giddiness just thinking about the options. Tom either way we have been told that this year the threat will be waiting for the old ones. Looks to be fun.

  • Comment number 53.

Anyone know why it's 'Not available in your area' I've gotten hooked on this show via netflix and have been eagerly awaiting the new season. The U.S. version doesn't look anywhere near as appealing as the original.

  • Comment number 54.

It's just a matter of waiting till it's on YouTube or the 主播大秀America web site.

  • Comment number 55.

New blog yay! I cant watch the video my flash isnt upto date!! Ill have to go on my laptop! Cant wait! Guted that the only original charcter left will be Anne, but itsgood tha they have got a different younger cast to take over. Not long to wai no!!

  • Comment number 56.

52 - Liking your thinking there Ewan. Wonder how much you'll get right? Probably, going by past performance, quite a bit :-)

48 - Eve the baby? Didn't see any mention of a baby. Gosh does Nina give birth after all and that's the new type of supernatural - how quaint she should be called Eve - first woman of her kind and all that? Oh I am sooooooooooooo excited about S4. Mitchell? Mitchell who?.....................only kidding love him to bits.

  • Comment number 57.

51 It's Tom who works in the cafe.

  • Comment number 58.

    hello all, hello mods.

Sounds v interesting from all the comments. So that makes Hal and Old One, and from the comments, very scary and dangerous. Mmmm, evil has ramped up, it seems.

@Rebecca - any chance the vid can be made available to outside the UK? Here in the US, can't watch it as 主播大秀IPlayer is not available here. Would greatly appreciate it, as would love to see this. :)

  • Comment number 59.

    Under New Management.

Just in case you think I've gone mental it's reversed in the Cafe window

  • Comment number 60.

Sunny: I don't think Hal is evil...he's the new 'head vamp', i don't want to say Mitchell's replacement because of course he is irreplaceable but it's making me wonder about him. According to what i've been reading in various online articles, Hal has been cut off from any kind of human interaction since 1955 and Tom helps him to re-integrate. I think this is where the cafe comes into it, Tom works there and perhaps Hal gets a job there too?.

No. 48 posted a link to Michael's interview. There's a link at the bottom of the interview to an interview with Michael and Damien, the Michael interview is just a repeat of the original interview but scroll down and there's an interview with Damien beneath it and it's interesting (Sookie Stackhouse website i think it is).

  • Comment number 61.

@ruby - hi! yes, think you're right. Hal is not evil, but has v dark past and capability for great evil, worse than M, possibly H. Which may make any 'lapses' or threats that much worse. Guess I'm just looking for an evil in case EW fails to show! LOL!

  • Comment number 62.

Well, hello Hal! :) Let the speculation commence!
This is very exciting, isn't it? As soon as the music started, I sighed happily and started to smile. So Leo wanted a barber shop by the sea - hope he did open it - somewhere in Wales, maybe?
I think I'm going to like Hal. I wonder where the prequel is set, if he knew Mitchell and what kind of reputation he has among vamps. Right, am going in for a second watch.
    xx

  • Comment number 63.

    Very intresetring,

Cant wait to find out more from these guys

"We can do it together, Keep each other strong"

  • Comment number 64.

this is the link suggested by @ruby

full of SPOILERS ---- WARNING---- SPOILERS

but then 'it feels so good'...

  • Comment number 65.

Well hello Damien *cough* I mean Hal of course....very much enjoyed this prequel: looks like we have another, although different, troubled vampire about to enter HH. Loved Leo as well and hope we see more of him in the series although suspect that he's either very old now or no longer alive in 201/12.

@48 Breary1997 thanks for the link....think Eve has to be Nina's....I'm going to be very interested in how they deal with no Nina in eps 1....sadly I think they'll have killed her off in some way. With George only being in a few (possibly one) eps it looks like Annie is left holding the babe so to speak.

Looking forward to more prequels from some of the other new characters in BH4

  • Comment number 66.

FINALLY, work has let me go; I've bitten through the bars, climbed over the wall and had a chance to catch up!

I like the look of Hal, interesting story and the idea of a constantly rolling ten or so year cycle for vampires, it puts a lot of other things in perfect context. I can feel a post on my own blog about that developing nicely!

There was one line that really stood out for me -
鈥淚 have been so many people since then.鈥

    Something to ponder...

  • Comment number 67.

I wonder who was the army surgeon who turned Hal? Could it be a vampire we know? Not many we know of who were around in sixteenth century 鈥 Wyndam, Hettie, possibly Carl and possibly Seth. Any likely candidates, do you think?

  • Comment number 68.

Hettie - a little Girl surgeon?
    Seth? Really Seth?
Carl - if he is old enough maybe.
Wyndam - could go through his own cycles or saw who Hal could become.

Small thing Hal sometimes another name for Harry do you think in a flashback we'll see him called bloody Harry or something like that?
    Or
Hal all an illiterate whore could think of to name their Son.

  • Comment number 69.

So many interesting stories: I mean, how did Hal (who is British? Hal is short for Harry and he sounds very English) end up fighting in the Lithuanian/Polish army against the Muscovites? Some adventures he must have had!
Anyone know who the actor is who plays Leo? Would definitely like to see more of him!

  • Comment number 70.

    Dear bloggers,

A favor perhaps? For those of us that are unable to access the prequel (grrr), is there a blogger who might be kind enough to post some of the dialogue or back story?

I see bits of it in several posts, but a bit difficult trying to piece it all together.

If any are so inclined, would be most appreciated,
    :)

In the 1500's Armies were fluid if you would fight you would be added to any army that would have you - The idea of a national Army was new.

Plus Mercenaries were very conmen around that time.

  • Comment number 72.

    Hi everyone!

I was all ready to hate the character of Hal but watching this prequel I LOVE him already! So sorry we've lost Nina as well as the boys but as Lord Toby said we can't keep talent like that our secret forever. I hope we at least get to see little Fuzzy on screen.

When Hal mentioned the army sergeant turning him my thoughts went to Herrik but I think that's just me wanting to see the wonderful Jason Watkins again as I don't think he was old enough to be around back in the 1500's.

Hyper hyper hyper excited for the new series now, how many cups of tea do we need to make to get a start date? :)

  • Comment number 73.

I'd just got over Aidan and Russell leaving and now Sinead! I was gutted for a while, but actually I think I'm more excited now. As much as I loved Sinead and Nina, the character had become overly preachy and whiney in the last series, and this gives George and Nina a chance to go out in a connected way and it sounds like there will be a huge emotional fallout. Even better is the introduction of new characters - a vampire with 500 years of backstory potential, and the chance to see the development of a new dysfunctional supernatural family with a different dynamic. It will freshen things up.

I'm looking forward, but I am also hoping the past will be referenced from time to time, it adds depth to the 'Being Human' world and emotional continuity. It seems from the pictures as if George may be going through the wringer having killed his best friend and it seems losing his partner in some way and that all looks to be happening really quickly. But I'm also hoping Annie isn't just suddenly 'over' losing these people too. It's always too short a run, with so much crammed in, but I hope they don't 'rush' the mourning. It would be odd if the characters moved on more quickly than the fans did.

  • Comment number 74.

I'm with you SunnyFLA, can't see the prequel here in NYC - help fellow bloggers! Also, has anyone noticed/mentioned the chain George is wearing in the new character photo? His Star of David is on a shorter chain, so could it be he's wearing Mitchell's?

  • Comment number 75.

Those Who can't see the Hal and Leo Prequel due to location know it's up on YouTube I won't give the address as I have bad luck with the mods when I do but it is out there good hunting.

  • Comment number 76.

Thanks Ewan. I spilled a little ink on myself

  • Comment number 77.

That might make the writing blury

  • Comment number 78.

    oh why hello my lovelies!
It feels so good to be back on the blog. I have missed you all oh, so much! I see some interesting theories are popping up already.

I'm a bit bugged with the killing off Nina thing, because the good job Sinead made made her grow on me and I am probably going to miss her.

It's interesting also to see Hal and Leo, a BH in the past, maybe they just ran off and tried what Mitchell and George did. I love to see the Old Ones, I hope we get to know more about them, to see them more this series.

    Shine on you crazy bloggers!

  • Comment number 79.

I was so upset to see Mitchell go. (trust me, i cried more watching that one scene than with any other TV show or film.) But I trust in Toby! cannot wait for series 4! when i saw this post I nearly squealed with excitement! X)

  • Comment number 80.

70 - Hi Sunny! Are you able to access the 'Characters' tab at the top of the page (next to the blog tab)? If so you'll get some info on Hal there. If not, let me know and I'll see if I can copy and paste it.

Will try this too - please don't mod me mods - it is only a copy of the Hal video

  • Comment number 81.

@SAINTIXE56 I had to back today and watch Series 1 all over again. I just really really hope they have got back a lot more of the humour. Series 3 was very black at times.... really looking forward to the new series though :)

  • Comment number 82.

Fair play Sasha, i have just found that video and being outside the UK and unable to watch on here myself I was just about to try post it for others who cant!

  • Comment number 83.

Saaaasshhhha! *waving* boldly going where vampires fear to tread! LOL!

Gosh! So much going on I can't take it all it! Well done whoever put it on YouTube - watch it quick everyone before it's taken down.

Isn't it great to hear that music again - and see something different. I need to watch it another 10..well..maybe 20.. oh who am I kidding... 50 times at least?

Gutted about Sin茅ad - just gutted. And I'll go and tell her now. She loved Being Human - something must have gone very wrong there. But I'm looking forward to the second series of Lip Service coming soon.

  • Comment number 84.

hi all, and thanks so much!

@sasha, @ewan - yes, someone sent me the YT link that is the copy and it worked just fine!

Hal is def interesting....first I've seem DM. He's very good. Suspect he'll make a great vampire, full of angst and turmoil and potential for carnage.

Leo. Leo is not what I was expecting. V interesting character there.

V interesting play betw the 2 characters and their backgrounds. Hmmm. Something to ponder.

  • Comment number 85.

@Manc - lol! yes, key lime danish it is! Dive in! Esp as we've all been fed a morsel today from LT....

Well hello there! Long time no blog! I've not been on here for ages, so hope you're all doing fab!

And yeah finally some BH stuff! Was beginning to wonder what was happening!

I am now officially psyched for S4. Hal's character looks very intriguing.

Was so shocked to see that SK has left! What? Either way I can't wait to see what happens next and see Annie take over a bit more. Gotta love Lenora.

Hope to see some familiar and new faces here! Talk soon! x

  • Comment number 87.

81 - I'm afraid to say i think this series will be pretty dark to begin with. Nina's death(?) George leaving, Wyndham on their backs...

Oh & I'm on twitter if anyones interested: @yekim_mikey

  • Comment number 88.

87 *waving like a loon* ooh hello lovely! Is it you? Glad you made to the Blog! I should warn you - you will have no life now that you're here.... :D

Yay! How lovely to see Don't Go Through The Door, indil, Dorina, Anglo and Ginger Red and everyone else tooo. You have been missed.

Thanks Sunny.. yes.. about Leo - anyone any ideas about who the actor is yet?

  • Comment number 89.

Leo - had a few thoughts, or rather questions:

Hal's bio says "his best friends Leo and Pearl" which lends to believe they still are friends.
So if the prequel is 1955, is he a continuing character?
If so, is he a special kind of WW to survive so long? Is he the sorta new supernatural?
Or is does something happen to Leo that leads/sends Hal to the HH?
And how does he start, in 1955, to help Hal into being clean?

  • Comment number 90.

Wow - now I am exited. SFX is in the shops a day early - the article is a must and a new blog. I am really spoiled.

The show sounds as though it is going to be really, really good!!!!

  • Comment number 91.

Have read the article in SFX and watched the prequal - it all looks and sounds amazing - start date please, please??

Surprised about Nina - what about the puppies - poor, poor George. Wont miss her myself - never my favourite character - especially after she STABBED MITCHELL IN THE BACK. Liked the WW, Leo was it - this is going to be fun.

Really looking forward to this now.

  • Comment number 92.

Hello all, I'm back!!! Dearest Aunty Manc, hope you didn't think I'd abandonded You, will try and pop in for sunday lunch now and then (are carrots still on the menu?)

Good to see some of you other OOs returning after long abscences: Don't Go Through The Door, indil, Dorina, Anglo and Ginger Red et al.

Think I've got use to the idea of G leaving, Hope we get some more back Story of Toms Sheltered, Vamp killing raising by Mcnair.

I could Waffle all day but my evil hound needs walking, just a quick mention though did any sherlock fans think RT seems to have taken George to dartmoor with him?

    cul luv Lycan x

  • Comment number 93.

Just looking at the main cast photo and Mark Williams's character looks very much like a reporter/ supernatural obsessive?

  • Comment number 94.

Lots of interesting thoughts about Hal and Leo. It is such a shame that the actors in the prequels are not credited anywhere 鈥 or that I know of at least. It would be good to know who they are 鈥 there鈥檚 the couple that Annie haunted, Mitchell and Herrick鈥檚 1960s pick up, the American tourist who went for an ill-advised walk with George and - of course - Hetty!

Does anyone know who they all are?

Sunny 鈥 I find Leo intriguing too but can鈥檛 help wondering if it is his death that sends Hal to Honolulu Heights?

Some people are saying that the Leo/Hal partnership is very like George and Mitchell but I鈥檓 not sure I see that. It reminds me more of Mitchell and Josie 鈥 Hal saves Leo so that Leo can save him. He wants the life that Leo dreams of, a house by the sea and a beer after work. Normal things. And maybe their friendship ended in a similar fashion 鈥 Leo grew old and Hal didn鈥檛. Did he give his life to save Hal or is that a step too far...

With series four drawing so very close, it is good to be back. Got to say, I was very worried about the future of Being Human when it came out that we had not only lost Mitchell, but that George and Nina would also be disappearing.

My fears have pretty much been allayed by this prequel, however. Hal looks awesome. Same goes for Leo, so I'm hoping that the elderly werewolf does make an appearance at some point. I hope like hell that Wyndham will be a series regular as well...and it's gonna be interesting to see how Hal fits into the whole dynamic with the vampires' takeover going on. Hal may not be as ancient as Wyndham, but at 500 years he's more of an Old One than Ivan was. Maybe there are other powerful vamps out there who don't think Wyndham has the right idea either.

Also, this clip needs added to the "Being Human Prequels" tab on the sidebar.

So yesterday was a BIG BIG day. A lot to take in, and there was me running between blogs, twitter feeds, external forums all sorts - AND with the flu!

I'll get the updated credits for you asap. For those asking it's Damien Molony that plays Hal. And I'm very sorry we couldn't give you the air date yesterday - I thought we could - but my grand overlord said 'No!' and I was sent back to the basement.

Some interesting thoughts about Pearl.... I wonder what her story is....

*walks off doing a maniacal laugh, and then sneezes*

    Excuse me. Where's my lemsip?

So hinting you know about Pearl then leaving us waiting for 'Being Human 1955' with a Bwa Har haaa chooo

Well dies in the 50's had to of have - brutal other half has been done so - children to watch over? Did she say no to the door? did she have feeling more for the werewolf or the vampire?

Also is she the one that tells Annie the story for the flashbacks? A lot to ponder on.
