THE BIG QUESTION - GEORGE AND MITCHELL: CHANGING PLACES?

Post categories:

New to BH? This post does not contain spoilers, but the comments might...

Ìý

Mitchell is a Vampire, George is a Werewolf. ÌýIt makes sense, but we at BH Towers thought it might be fun to mash things up a bit, and started thinking...Ìý What if George and Mitchell swapped roles?

Ìý

What if George was a vampire and Mitchell was a werewolf?Ìý If George was the Blacked-Eyed-Pea, and Mitchell the Super Furry Animal? ÌýÌýWould Mitchell be happier with a part-time role...? Could George cope with the blood lust...? Ìý

Ìý

This is definitely one BIG issue, and one BIG Question... ÌýGeorge and Mitchell: What would happen if they swapped curses?

Woooo, am I really first to answer? Where is everyone?

Personally, I can't imagine George surviving as a vampire - he's too nice and moral and would probably ask Mitchell (the Werewolf) to stake him through the heart just like Lauren did.

Hmmmm, Mitchell as a Werewolf though....let me think....

  • Comment number 2.

I think Mitchell would be ok with the wolf actually, and could get on and lead a normal life. Mitchell feels guilty whenever he loses control, so maybe the fact he has to turn into a werewolf every full moon, ie he has no choice, it would actually make it easier for him to deal with

And thinking about George as a vampire, I think George's slightly obsessive compulsive nature would probably go in his favour if he were still trying to be human - in fact he would probably be able to control the bloodlust better than Mitchell.

I'm sorry but I'm in the middle of the Twilight series, and can't help drawing comparisons. George as a vampire would probably resort to feeding from animals as the Cullens do, and Mitchel as a Werewolf would learn to shapeshift voluntarily and help to fight against the evil vampires. In fact, I hope that's what George does in Series 2, if that's possible in Being Human world.

  • Comment number 3.

Woah! George would die! Or just freak out. I mean he freaks out about his part time role so how would he be for a full time role? Although he would already have had 100 odd years to adjust. So he'd probably be in the same place as Mitchell really. He'd have adapted to it.

Mitchell... It's hard to tell what he'd be like as a werewolf. He's just not that... wolf like. I think he would probably cope better than George would. Or at least on the outside he would. He's not the sort of person that would show his feelings so openly whereas George is.

I don't know. I can't imagine them being in each others positions. Mitchell is just so perfect as a vampire and George has werewolf written all over him. The show certainly wouldn't work if they were reversed. I just think that their characters would be completely different.

I want to ramble on about this. I'm in a really rambly mood. I guess I'll just stop here and go have a think about it. :/ I'm sure I should try and find a better answer than "I don't know" really.

  • Comment number 4.

Strangely enough, I can see George coping better as a vampire, just because it's a constant and he'd be consciously making the kill/no kill decision. That's part of what freaks George out now is that he has no control over what he does as the wolf. There's always that anticipation, knowing it's coming, but not knowing what you're going to do. I think he'd probably be similar to what Mitchell is now (trying to kick the habit), but I doubt he'd have the bloodthirsty past. He probably would have asked someone to kill him by now (as was said above).

As far as Mitchell, he'd do fine as a werewolf. He's already the "lone wolf" among the vampires. Truth be told, it's kind of surprising that the vampires are the pack creatures and that werewolves aren't.

  • Comment number 5.

    *struggles*
    The characters are too cemented.

Btw, my Twi thing that you all went *ugh* at? Well I've just hit a large worldwide vamp audience with BH. They love it. ;) You can thank me later Bh prod with haribos and iTunes vouchers.

  • Comment number 6.

i think mitchell would be fine as a werewolf like some one said above his all ready alone and i think he would cope with the change better then the george we saw at the beginning of the series

and george wouldnt cope and im sad to say he really wouldnt of lasted as long as mitchell has his just not good at coping with unnormal stuff (you no not human stuff)

  • Comment number 7.

Sorry not read what people have put so probably gonna repeat someone :-S

The thing is they wouldnt be the same characters - Mitchell is the way he is because of whats happened to him and hes essentially from a different time so if he'd be born when George was he'd be completely different - same with George if he'd be born all those years ago Im sure he'd be an entirely differnet person.

But if we put that aside and just said right here right now if it was reversed I think it all depends - eugh shant get into the theory lol i promise! but if vampires do essentially lose their humanity when theyre recruited then maybe George would be ok - id quite like to see him as a completely kick *** vampire! lol (sorry not sure what words im allowed to say :-S)

As for Mitchell as a werewolf hmm assuming hes the same bloke born the same time and just (assuming for a minute that BH had gone with the immortal werewolf thing i guess) I think he'd be ok - dunno really the show would be rubbish! No offence to Mitchell im sure he'd be a very nice man but essentially without the addiction and the blood lust he'd not really be very interesting lol the reason its so interesting with George as a werewolf is that its the opposite of his personality but Mitchells a bit well wierd anyway lol George is - or was - very straight laced and kinda conservative so turning into a mad uncontrollable killing machine once a month is pretty much as opposite as you could go I think.

So yeah itd make for a rubbish show I think George (ignoring the theory just taking them as they are...) would kill himself and Mitchell would be fine...not overly entertaining lol but yeah great question its wierd when you think about it...

  • Comment number 13.

OMG I didn't realise it was on tonight, aaargh I've missed half of it. I put off watching the DVD after what you all said about the music changes, but needed a Mitchell fix last night so watcched the last two episodes. And that Owen scene just does not work as well without the Scissor Sisters. Haven't managed to bring myself to watch the Ep 4 intro yet tho :(

  • Comment number 14.

  • Comment number 19.

Aw I just want to give Mitchell a hug in this scene.....

  • Comment number 20.

I know :-( although to be fair he'd probably rip your head off :-P

So do we think we'll be getting many new bloggers?

This is the ad I was on about with annabel!

  • Comment number 21.

its really odd i still got really jittery and excitable while it was on lol even though ive seen it before hundreds of times :-S

  • Comment number 22.

Lol, yeah I know - I was gutted that I missed the first half hour even though I have the DVD right there in the machine.

That's weird, just posted something and it's not showing in the blog. I hope we get some new fans...I go on about BH to everyone, in fact I think they're getting fed up of my new obsession with vampires and werewolves - i don't know I just find the whole thing fascinating.

Missed the Annabel advert - do you know when it starts?

  • Comment number 23.

Wow think this must have affected me lol had a dream last night which involved Mitchell as a hybrid vampire/werewolf :-S was a brilliant dream though - Herrick was still alive :-) had great fun - Mitchell could pretty much turn as and when though unlike George. Thing is though it was one of those dreams you're really disappointed to wake up from :-(

    Thats kind of on topic...

  • Comment number 24.

swapping??..... no, don't think so...cannot give you a reasoned arguement why not. But I think that Mitchell would just about cope with being a werewolf but George, bless him, would feel obliged to ask someone if they would mind him biting them.........(OOOh got the telly on mute and just noticed that Tully is on Robin Hood).

Anyway, no, keep Mitchell as the dark brooding vamp tht he is

  • Comment number 25.

Lol that made me laugh i just have this image of george going up to random people in that club on 80s night asking if they wouldn't erm, mind, maybe, erm, perhaps...dying? please? no no I shouldn't have erm, asked, yeah, I...sorry - whilst doing the whole boxy thing he does with his hands lol

  • Comment number 26.

    lol eagle!

  • Comment number 27.

Oh my god - was really looking forward to Michael Mcintyres comedy roadshow -seriously could it be any more obvious that its just a re hash of live at the appollo?! They did the whole "jack dee's..." and this is "michael mcintyres..." its the same basic principal, same voice over man - and if that wasnt enough theyve even use the same sign!! And very similar titles - seriously bbc pull your finger out im paying a small fortune for licence fee and they cant even come up with an original show? :-S

Luckily Michael is brilliant and have been a fan since I saw him on live at the apollo! and fair play to him getting his own show and that - im not especially annoyed just a little "miffed" i think is the right term lol

seriously though life on mars and ashes to ashes (yes both cracking shows not arguing with that) casualty and holby (both rubbish lol so that evens it out) now this :-S

As long as they dont do a being human spin off...although they could do a george one and use tobys "mild thing" title lol

There you go I mentioned BH so its on topic dont shout at me lol

  • Comment number 28.

i think i would prefer mitchell staying as a vampire, he fits the character perfectly.
i dont think george would be able to cope, considering he struggles enough being a werewolf as it is.

  • Comment number 29.

I think Mitchell and George would enjoy their reversed situations, but sooner or later their going to start to develope some serious problems. For example, Mitchell would start obsessing on the things he could do as a werewolf that he couldn't do as a vampire. As for George, he will probably become an over-confident vampire jerk and end up becoming the next Herrick.

  • Comment number 30.

Mmmmm, the more I think about this, the less I can see a role reversal working, because....

    1) I can't see George ever making fingerless gloves look cool
    2) Imagine George's OCD overload at all the blood everywhere (just trying to picture George in that bathroom scene in Ep 3, and he would be shouting at Lauren to get the bleach out)
    3) Mitchell's too skinny to pull off tough werewolf look
    4) Mitchell can't be bothered shaving as it is, which means he would have hairy palms too - yuck! (Just remembering his comment to Tully that upset George)

  • Comment number 31.

    George as a vampire?

I really don't know. I mean, George has such a hard time growing into the idea of being a werewolf, and I think a comfort he finds in the curse is that it doesn't make him immortal, he won't be tortured forever.

If George was a vampire I think he would be like Mitchell - constantly fighting it, like he does as when he's a werewolf. It's that, or he finds this curse completely suited to him as he can be free from his "human" constraints of insecurity etc.

Mitchell I believe, would cope somewhat better with the werewolf than George pre-series-finale does. Mitchell's grounded himself by trying to stay in touch with his humanity, and lycanthropy (check me out with my technical terms!) would allow him this. Also, Mitchell I'm afraid is slightly more intelligent than George, though whether this is because of his longer life is always a factor.

From someone's point about the Cullen vampires from Twilight, couldn't Toby Whitehouse find animal blood a suitable alternative for Mitchell?!

  • Comment number 32.

Hmm animal blood in BH - I'm not sure what affect it would have on them in terms of lessening the physical effects that comes with fighting an addiction - the pain, the shakes etc but I think for the vampires in BH - well for Mitchell as he's the one fighting it - he seems to deal quite well with those things - I think its more the temptation of the taste and the smell etc and in BH I dont think it tastes the same, well obviously it wouldnt taste the same ever but in BH especially I think they're pretty much repulsed by the idea - kinda like humans eating insects lol its a lower lifeform - its ok to eat cows, pigs, sheep, chickens etc but stick a plate of cockroaches or stick insects on a plate and even though theyre prefectly nutritious and would probably fill you up, keep you alive in an emergency - it would be so gross that unless you absolutely HAD to you probably wouldnt - and for the BH vampires they dont have to have blood its just a temptation whereas the twilight vampires need it to keep them alive and are so set on not killing anymore

Hmm that probably doesnt make sense :-S its been a long day lol

  • Comment number 33.

whose to say that if mitchell was a werewolf, he would behave the same as he does now. and vice versa. the different "conditions" may lead them to act differently to how we know them to behave.

  • Comment number 34.

I think that Mitchell would be fine, just fine.
George though, oh dear. I'm sorry to say that I don't think George would have made it though the weekend before booking a sunny one way trip to Spain with a suitcase of wooden stakes and fresh garlic.

  • Comment number 35.

I'm so used to how they are, they're used to how they are.
I think Mitch would cope ok because he wouldn't be constantly in need of blood.
George, however, would probably be unable to control himself.
Though I feel that Mitch would only be ok because of the amount of time he's had his curse.

  • Comment number 36.

Interesting... So if George was in Mitchell's position, how do you think he'd have handled Lauren?

  • Comment number 37.

Wow you are really posing the hard questions at the moment BH prod.

Okay ignoring the fact that Lauren probably wouldn't have gone for a guy like George, I really don't think that George would have coped. I mean first there's the guilt that he's lost control and recruited someone.

I suppose we'll see how he would have coped in the next season with Nina because that's kind of the same. But then I guess it's worse turning someone into a vampire because you're conscious the whole time and remember everything, whereas as a werewolf you're completely separate and don't remember anything.

Still I don't think that George would be able to bare the guilt. He's a very sensitive person and he'd let it affect him quite a bit. Either that or he'd learn not to over time. I guess it would depend on whether he has just been turned into a vampire or if he's been that way for some time. I mean as people have said we don't know how Mitchell was when he was first changed. I mean now we see this tough, cool guy but before he could have been just like George. Well maybe not but anyway.

    I'm rambling again arn't I? I'll shut up now.

  • Comment number 38.

Well firstly I don't think he would have gotten himself in that situation. He's far too sensible and he kind of thrives on self sacrifice, so to be honest, if he didn't commit vampire suicide in the first weeekend, I think he'd make a rubbish vampire because I think he could cope with denying himself of blood. For a while anyway. I do think that suicide would always come before actually killing someone. So Lauren wouldn't actually exist.
If she did exist though I think he'd tell on her, and then not invite her to his birthday party anymore, ooommmmmmmm. Before final option, killing her.
There we go, I've covered all bases and it all contradicts itself.

  • Comment number 39.

George would struggle with being a vampire.
But Mitchell would go with the flow if he was a werewolf

  • Comment number 40.

canteen lady just been on may contain nuts - brilliant program by the way - unfortunately I see so many of the parents I've met in the characters which I guess is the points.

  • Comment number 41.

i was gonna say that about the canteen lady i think it ws good to though E

  • Comment number 42.

Ok it just has to be said - mr tovey has a VERY VERY sexy voice :-D hope everyones listened to his sitcom...if it needs selling to you - he sings quite a bit in episode 2 :-D

Just dont read anything about it before you listen because it sounds awful and absolutely ridiculous lol but its actually good - well it made me laugh anyway :-)

  • Comment number 43.

oh right george and lauren must have missed that - erm i dont know really i think if hed bitten her yes he would have recruited her like mitchell did - its a hard one i think hes a lot stronger and more together than people give him credit for i dont necessarily think hed go to pieces even as much as mitchell did - I certainly think he would have stayed with her and I think that that would have probably kept her from going quite so far off the rails so maybe there wouldnt have been so much of a problem. however if she had still gone around killing people i dont think george would have been able to cope with that - i kind of cant make my mind up what hed do though - my first thought would be that hed kill himself - he showed in the pilot that he was ready to kill himself so that he didnt kill julia...but that wouldnt solve the problem like it would have done in the pilot - and like i said i do think when it comes to it hes a lot more together than people think so im not sure - i dont think hed kill her...mind you he killed herrick...

ok so short answer - i dont know lol

  • Comment number 44.

hey what gives...wheres fridays big question :-( damn i was looking forward to that lol - yes thats just how boring my life is at the minute :-S well i suppose i'll go have a bowl of cheerios instead...barry you cant start slacking now its not good for the diet lol

  • Comment number 45.

Lol, love how they introduced 'Cursed' on Ö÷²¥´óÐã1 as ''And if you like the Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 drama Being Human...''

It's werewolf film with Christina Ricci and the guy who played Pacey in Dawson's Creek. Portia de Rossi was a cameo part as a fortune teller wh predicted the girl who played Nadia in American Pie was in danger from a beast in teh moon...American Pie girl later got mauled and dragged away by a werewolf and Ricci and her friend got scratched by it.

    The fun continues...

The review is pretty grim in the Radio Times lol

  • Comment number 46.

woo does that mean BH is officially famous lol

well weve planned out being human the musical :-P but do you reckon theyd ever do being human the movie? good or bad idea?

  • Comment number 47.

Ooooh, interesting question. They'd have to be very careful. And not allow America to take control of it or do endless sequels. Hmmmm. I think it'd probably be a very bad idea. As would doing too many series. That said, I'd def wanna see it. Blimey, can you imagine? Bet the actors would get offered so much work afterwards

  • Comment number 48.

Cursed really isn't as bad as I was expecting.

  • Comment number 49.

lol well i figured id do my own friday question :-)

thats the thing itd be good for the actors which is great but on the other hand hollywood might snatch them away from us if it was too good lol

id kinda like to see it but think itd be difficult to get right but at least id have something nice to watch while im skiving off at work lol

  • Comment number 50.

The guy who plays Lex on Smallville is in Cursed too. And the guy who played Chachi on Happy Days hahaha

  • Comment number 51.

Line from Cursed - ''Jake, honey, I'm not gonna kill her I promise...I'm just gonna rip her to shreds and then let her choke on her own blood...and then maybe I'll eat her''

  • Comment number 52.

They use CGI for the transformation and I can honestly say I prefer the BH technique of prosthetics and robots

  • Comment number 53.

Well on Cursed, in order to get rid of a werewolf curse, you have to separate the head from the heart of the werewolf which started it. And then they burst into flames and everyone they've infected returns to human. Funny how the stories vary with each adaptation.

  • Comment number 54.

    OMG YES!
I would so love to see this done as episode.
Granted this may just be one of the sites, random trails of thought.
But I'm telling you it would be epic win.

I agree with pretty much the majority I think Mitchell wouldn't struggle as much as George would, although it would be interesting to see how Mitchell copes on the eve of the transformation.

Possibly terror? I mean it has been described as a pretty horrific thing.

I think overall it would probably at first be them at each other, then make them even closer? Knowing the hell the other has to go through.

  • Comment number 55.

Still no new question :-( wonder if we'll get one today...

On a nicer note - Aidans bithday on friday :-) happy birthday for then Mr Turner because I'll probably have forgotten by then but Im sure the Mitchellettes will be out in force :-D

  • Comment number 56.

Ok for all of you who are on twitter follow @peterfacinelli (for those of you who live under a rock hes aka the actor who plays carlisle in twilight) hes got a bet on with his friend that he cant get 500,000 followers by the 19th June and if he wins it his "friend" lol has to dance down hollywood boulevard in a bikini and we will be honoured with a youtube video of the event which sounds hilarious :-D but make sure its him who you follow because there are plenty of fakes about too

On topic on topic on topic yes george as vampire and mitchell as werewolf very interesting concept...

  • Comment number 57.

Meh. I saw that. But I have opened and closed a Twitter account twice now. I just found it very dull. And didn't see the point in 'following' complete strangers, especially 'celebs'. Meh.

  • Comment number 58.

Yeah I still dont like the term "follow" makes us sound like stalkers but have had some really nice encouraging messages from a couple of writers and I like to keep up to date with when things are being filmed/new shows being written because I'm just so sad like that lol and I dont care how pathetic it sounds but I still get excited when I get a message from Stephen Fry or Rob Brydon or Mat Horne...or anyone Im a fan of really - when your life is as boring as mine Sperk stuff like that kinda makes your day :-S

  • Comment number 59.

woo, go peter facinelli! I've already twittered him. yeah, sperkii, would have to agree with you, I havent really sussed out the twitter business yet - seems kind of strange. but I want to see peter's mate walk along hollywood boulevard in a bikini!

  • Comment number 60.

yeahh i think it would work actually ! but id only do it for one episode though because i think mitchell would miss being a vampire and geoge would cope with the blood thurst ..
