As many of you are aware, Sinead won’t be joining us on series 4. She felt that her Being Human journey had come to an end, and it was time to move on and face new challenges explore new roles.

Revealing the news has been a tricky balancing act as we didn’t want it to overwhelm the preparations for the new series, or indeed let the preparations for the new series suck all the oxygen out of saying a proper goodbye to Nina. But now all that is well under way, and as we get closer and closer to the transmission of episode one, we felt this was the time to discuss it properly.

We parted with much sorrow but no ill feeling. We respected Sinead’s decision, and we wish her all the best for the future. She was a popular and much loved member of the Being Human family. I’ve raved about her performance endlessly in my blogs, and I meant every word. She is also one of the smartest and sweetest and kindest people I know.

We’ll miss her enormously.

But Being Human lives on. Keep checking the blog for new clips and prequels and all manner of exciting treats. As I’ve said before, we’re insanely excited about series 4. The new characters have given us an opportunity to completely reinvigorate the show. We’re incredibly proud of it and we can’t wait to hear what you all think.

And so, a heartfelt thank you to Sinead. It was a pleasure to write Nina, a joy to watch her grow on screen, and an honour to work with such a talented and brilliant actress.Ìý

    A double act

Nina was self-centered, Sinead was giving

Nina wanted George for herself, Sinead was sharing her intimate knowledge of Honolulu Heights with the blog

Nina betrayed Mitchell with a cheap anonymous phone call, Sinead bit the bullet for a whole year and stayed silent

Nina broke the patient's confidentiality rules, Sinead broke our hearts with a simple line about 'a hairy baby'

Nina was bad, Sinead is good

Nina, I will not miss you- Sinead , where your steps will take you, you have devoted fans who will follow each and every one

Long gone the nurse from Hell, long live the wonderful actress

Aww Loved feisty Nina ( which is a bit surprising considering all the trouble she caused :-))

Had the opportunity to meet Sinead once in RL, she was lovely...Good luck with any future plans x

  • Comment number 5.

Aww well said Saint. Lovely comparison between Nina and Sinead. I liked Nina -although she did go too far with that telephone call!

Thanks for hours of laughter and tears and not forgetting the odd sweary word shouted in the direction of the TV set!

I wish you well for the future Sinead and if I see your name in the cast of a show, I'll make a point of watching.

    Best wishes

Loved Sinead's performance in Being Human. Loved her pithy comments as Nina and she was the perfect foil for Russell, Nina was it for George.

Yes, Nina frustrated me at times but Sinead was an asset to the show and she'll be missed.

  • Comment number 7.

I've had a couple of days to digest this but I am still sad to hear that Sinead is no longer part of Being Human. I wish her all the best for the future

  • Comment number 8.

Goodbye Sinead - you will be missed. Nina certainly had some of the best lines in BH and Sinead deliuered them so well. "Classy."

  • Comment number 9.

Saint - Really? Those lines you loved were from Nina. You just admitted it.

So farewell to the Werewolf Nurse you will be missed and mourned.

Sinead - Wish you well and good luck with metaphorical legs broken and brand new roles to inhabit enthralling new audiences in the process.

  • Comment number 10.

I'll miss Sinead, her lovely devoted kindness and the way she made Nina a joy for George.

On other news I've just had a shocking revelation: just watching a film on an Austrian channel and what happened during the commercial break? Preview of a new series soon to start. Had the volume down, but I saw a scene with a guy and a girl, sparkles where exchanged when one person put their hand on the other and it went right through. And then the title appeared: B e i n g H u m a n!!!

They've so lost it. They are airing my fav TV show, one of the best scifi series ever and what are they doing - they show the US version instead of the UK original. I can. Not. Believe. This. Noooo!!!

  • Comment number 11.

Oh, and in my previous comment I forgot this: "Has everybody taken stupid pills???" I've always wanted to use this, and now it's more than perfect.

  • Comment number 12.

    11- best line ever

  • Comment number 13.

A fitting tribute to a great actress...

    SK will be missed

  • Comment number 14.

So I haven't been on here for AGES! It's definitely not on the 22nd as the schedule's already up at /bbcthree/programmes/schedules/2012/w3/ataglance Ah well guess it'll be the 29th. Sorry to see that Sinead's going but I have total faith! Hal looks fantastic and looking forward to more Tom and the ever reliable and wonderful Annie

  • Comment number 15.

I'll take this opportunity to send a message to Sinead...

Nina was a fantastic character...well written by Toby and others of course but brought to life by yourself. You gave her heart, you gave her a conscience, you made her love for George and their relationship so central to all the Being Human storylines. ok..she got duped by Kemp and 'shopped' Mitchell but that's because Nina was never accepting of her supernatural life....and her human side dominated.

Each time I've met you Sinead you've always remembered me and I have always found you warm, generous and genuine. You are the same on Twitter. I've tried to watch all your other tv performances and loved them all. You are a fabulous actress and I wish you all the very best in your future acting roles ..and in your future marriage later this year. love you!

  • Comment number 16.

I'll never forget the time I got to meet Sinead at the season premier in London. You took such time to interact with the fans and genuinely recognised people you had chatted to on Twitter etc. As well as being an amazing actor you are a truely nice person, you'll be missed from the show. I wish you ever success for the future

    Andy

  • Comment number 17.

I completely agree with Dorina's statement.
I'm not one of the Nina-haters. I liked Nina - she had some of the best lines. And when she did things I didn't agree with I completely understood why because Sinead portrayed the character so well, like a real person full of strengths and weaknesses.

Sinead, I will really miss your presence in Being Human. I look forward to seeing you again in other things. The little glimpses of the real you we have seen suggest to me that you are a truly lovely person.
    Best wishes for the future.

  • Comment number 18.

    Hi there,

So much time passed since I last posted, I'd deleted the account and have had to reinvent meself.

I wanted to comment, elsewhere on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã site, on how much I enjoyed The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which featured Sacha Dhawan, RT's fellow ex-History Boy, who I now see from a previous post here, is to be in BH4.

I, too, should have preferred if Nina's departure from BH was on-screen but very best wishes to Sinead Keenan. I also think it a shame if there is to be no Lee Ingleby.

However, I'm still looking forward to seeing S4 and all the new characters. Just remember:

"If you want things to stay the same, then things will have to change."

    x

PS I saw Hetty/Eliza Newman in an episode of Rev.

  • Comment number 19.

Fare thee well, Nina. You, who never put up with the excuses from others, esp Mitchell. A bit opinionated, but decisions made were based on what you believed. I think Nina was one of the stronger female characters on the show, and Sinead portrayed her beautifully. I, for one, will miss Nina.

Sinead - all the very best to you, thank you for giving us Nina, and I look forward to seeing you in new projects.

  • Comment number 20.

    Oh Sinead. Sinead, Sinead, Sinead...

There are so many words, yet so few.

Onwards and upwards. That's pretty much all I can come up with.

I shall miss Nina. She reminded me of my mother in a way, and it's a shame we shall never see her with the baby, which I have still decided should be called Eve...

Speak to you on the Twitter side, lovely lady. And all the best, always.

  • Comment number 21.

Oh dear. I thought I could leave a message here - but then I read Dorina's (15) message and I got too upset and had to stagger off. Now I have just read llamaface's message and now... well...there are no words. This is the best I can do:

³§¾±²Ôé²¹»å, I know that you loved Being Human and you loved this Blog. And I miss you and will miss you for a very long time to come. I know there will be new things. I loved seeing you in the Agatha Christie 'The Clocks' over Christmas and will watch you in Lip Service. But I will miss your great good humour, your sense of fun, your kindness to Being Human fans (whether they liked Nina or not) your diplomacy and tact, but most of all I will miss you singing 'Dancing Queen' by Abba. Thanks for being so nice to us on Twitter. Goodbye 'inch_high_private_eye' you were indeed 'classy'

    Love Manc x

  • Comment number 22.

Aw, I've loved Nina ever since she appeared in episode 2 of series 1. Her "Dr Newall is a C***" speech to George is one of my favourite lines in the whole of Being Human.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Sinead twice and wish her all the very best for the future.

P.S. Getting rather excited about series 4 now! Hope we don't have too much longer to wait.

  • Comment number 23.

    New post yay

Good bye Sinead Nina will be missed massivly.
    Good luck to the furture.

    "There is, Were weaker"

  • Comment number 24.

Farewell, Nina. She was a great character, the only one whose emotional "transformation" from human to supernatural we were able to experience as well. Nina's journey - and Sinead's beautiful work - in Season 2 is one reasons why we fans are so connected to the heart of Being Human.

WITH THAT SAID....it is unfortunate she couldn't at least wrap up her story on screen like Aidan did in S3and Russell is doing is S4. It's horribly disrespectful to her character, the writers, and the millions of passionate fans of Being Human. In other words, its a total bummer but, whatever. After life goes on....

    Can't wait for Series 4!!!

  • Comment number 25.

    Saftz it was

    "There is, we're weaker"

They may find it easier to get now.

  • Comment number 26.

Nina will be missed but I think more importantly, Sinead will be! I can only speak from my own experience, but Sinead has been lovely and a joy to speak too =) It comes as no surprise that the character of Nina would not continue to S4 but would like to wish Sinead all the luck and happiness for the future xxx

  • Comment number 27.

Thank you Sinead for helping to create such a strong character who aroused so much respect and venom! A fine tribute to you as an actress. For a character who was not initially intended to be in the show beyond series 1, it's now impossible to imagine BH without Nina.

I wish you every success in the future, and hope that you achieve all your ambitions in your career.

  • Comment number 28.

It's a shame so many are leaving. What I find strange is that, the suggestion seems to be that she had wanted series 3 to be the last series. Why then, did they not include that in the storyline of that series? Or maybe I just got the wrong impression from the wording.

That being said, if this series is set some time later much could have happened between series. It's pretty logical that a couple with a baby would leave and find their own place after all.

Anyway, while it's a shame to miss three of our original four cast (dear me, that's a lot at once isn't it?) I'm looking forward to seeing the new characters. The new vampire prequel was interesting.

I kinda wish they'd mix things up from the 'a vampire', a werewolf and a ghost premise though. According to the vampire's back-story it seems he has a history of being in such a triumvirate and now he's going to join another.

Counting our guys that's THREE examples of such groups. (Okay, Sinead's character made two werewolves but first series didn't start that way, and she was often a bit outside the group in series 2.) It would be nice if the new series if they'd mixed things up a bit more with the types and numbers of supernatural creature in the main house.

I'm still looking forward to seeing it though. One of my favourite programmes on the telly.

  • Comment number 29.

    Oh dear..

Although I knew about SK leaving, there's nothing like a goodbye blog to exacerbate my sadness. I think everyone who knows me knows that Nina was my favorite character. And the reason for this was because Sinead brought her to life, made Nina into someone who I looked forward to seeing on my television every week, who I cried for and debated for and who could capture me within seconds. Some of the most profound quotes (in my opinion) come from Nina, and I honestly will miss seeing her in S4.

Now for Sinead herself. Just.. wow. I'll never forget her tour of the set, how she navigated herself into a dead end, pure comedy gold. The way she interacted with her fans, and involved us in a way that was well above any 'duty' she had. So.. Sinead.. I wish you all the luck in the world, and I am looking forward to being captivated time and again by your future roles. Thank you for.. well.. just being lovely really! You really are a joy to watch, and I'll miss you xx

  • Comment number 30.

Farewell Sinead. I'm so sorry we won't be seeing Nina in Series 4 but send you all my very best wishes for the future.

  • Comment number 31.

Nina has been such a controversial character throughout the past 3 series entire blogs could have been filled with why people loved or hated Nina; with concern for her wellbeing or desire for her demise. I’ve loved Nina from the start. She had many of the best lines, she made me laugh, cry, worry, well a whole gambit of emotions really. I’m going to miss her character terribly.

Sinead your incredible acting brought Nina’s character to life and made her very real and believable thank you. Being that I’m from across the pond I have never had the opportunity to meet you but wish I could. You’ve always been very generous with your time to your fans both here and on twitter, you’re a truly lovely person. I’ll miss you here on Being Human, but looking forward to seeing you in other projects. Wishing you all the luck in your future endeavors.

  • Comment number 32.

Another blog and more to follow - aren't we getting a treat.

Nina not my favourite character - liked her in the 1st series but not after. However, for the sake of the story I would have preferred to have her departure on screen.

However I trust the writers. I am sure they have come up with a really good way to do this.

Agree with everyone else though that Sinead is a good actress and a lovely person.

Just wish they would tell us when the series is starting.

  • Comment number 33.

Please tell us when series 4 starts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 34.

"Mummy sez wake up cos she needs to ask u a question"

  • Comment number 35.

Just been reading the previous blog. Didn't know people had been nasty to the crew on twitter or whatever. What on earth for. Anybody who does that isn't a real fan.

I, for one, am really looking forward to this now. Toby's blog and the prequel for Hal really sold it to me. I am intrigued all over again. A new character to learn about with all his back story and no doubt "old" aquaintances who will be popping up through the story.

Sorry about Sinead and Russell leaving that was a shock. I know I am always saying I didn't like Nina but I know lots of you did and I hope her leaving doesn't stop you looking forward to the show. But this gives the writers the chance to take the story down any avenue they want.

How many episodes is Russell in. Anyone know.

I suppose AT, RT and SK are all such good actors they were bound to move on. I had just hoped it would be later rather than sooner.

It took me a long time to get over Mitchell but I am counting down the days until S4 now.

  • Comment number 36.

Nina's departure came completely out of the blue for me! She was an awesome character and will be missed. All the best for ³§¾±²Ôé²¹»å. I'm sure great things will follow!

Bad news at the bottom of this article as it says either BH or lip service wont be recomissioned after S4 :(

  • Comment number 43.

Well that sucks and that's even before the fourth series has even aired...way to go Ö÷²¥´óÐã...instill confidence in your Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 shows why don't you?

  • Comment number 44.

Everyone has already said it better than I can - but thank you Sinead for three wonderful series of BH. It was lucky to have you for so long! Wishing you well in all you do. You are a lovely, talented woman and I hope some wonderful new opportunities are winging your way :)

I'm unconvinced by the Radio Times article and keeping my fingers crossed that it has assumed way too much, way too soon re. Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 and the future of BH and other dramas. Keep some frankly dire and/or worn-out formula dramas but potentially ditch its 2x BAFTA nominated series? Stupid pills in the water coolers, maybe?

  • Comment number 45.

I’ve never made any secret whatsoever of the fact that I’ve always hated Nina with a vengeance. True – she does have some funny lines, but on the whole she annoys me in a way that makes my teeth hurt.

    BUT!
All my whining is just a childish way to try and ignore the fact that every TV-show needs a Nina. Characters like her are the engines that push the narrative forward. No matter how much wimps like me would like all episodes to be centered on friendly pizza-eating in front of the Real Hustle, this would not make for good TV. I do admit this (with some reluctance).

    AND!
Sinead has proved to be an excellent actress, who has been able to instill so much life into Nina that we’re actually discussing her more or less like if she was a real person. Nina is made real, thanks to Sinead’s talent. It’s impossible now, of course, to picture anyone else in the role.

    AND!
Sinead herself has always been lovely to us. Her set tour of the HH is a true gem. Her patience with us over at Twitter is bordering on angelic. While I will be nothing but pleased to watch Nina go, I will miss Sinead dearly. The BH universe will be somewhat lonelier without the Sinead star in its midst.

Goodbye Sinead, go with my best wishes for the future!
    /Snowracer

  • Comment number 46.

42/43/44 - I agree Ruby - that really sucks. Great way to build an audience - who wants to get emotionally invested in a show that is doomed, regardless of quality, reception or ratings. I hope it's a misquote or a misunderstanding - why advertise now that only one or two out three shows will survive? And this from Ben Stephenson who's been waxing lyrical about BH for a while - can't help wondering if he ever meant it. I suppose it means more time on Ö÷²¥´óÐãThree for all those tedious cheap reality shows...

  • Comment number 47.

Goodness, a lot has happened since I last posted! First, adding my praise And thanks to the great and well deserved heap of it already here for Sinead. Wishing you success and joy in your future endeavors.

Second: belated happy birthday to Rebecca!

Third: amazed that no UK start date has been announced yet. Hoping that means someone is thinking about the multinational fanbase. Are they waiting for WSB to expire on iPlayer?

Fourth: in America, when a hint is released that a well-loved show could be canceled, it's often considered a cue for the fans to make lots of noise at whomever is in charge in order to keep the show going. Sometimes that works.

Fifth: looks like Griffin is the new police chief. Must have been installed by Wyndam during the takeover. I'm guessing Wyndam got some grief for failing to retrieve Mitchell, but who knows? Maybe he just went off sulking.

Hi to all the new and returning faces. Exciting stuff appears to be afoot!

  • Comment number 48.

    Well. What can I say?

Sinead, you gave your all to the role of Nina. You gave a reality to her and was the perfect foil for George's character. I know things must change and move on but Being Human will miss you enormously, as will we. Toby wrote the part beautifully and you enhanced it. Fact!

I've now bumped into you a couple of times and you've been nothing but friendly, genuine and so good to the fans, either face-to-face or on Twitter. Please pop back on Twitter and see us sometime and to keep us up to speed with your plans for October!

Wishing you all the very best for the future, both personally and professionally. Love Anglo xx

  • Comment number 49.

Will really really miss Nina and Sinead. It has been brilliant watch the dynamics between Nina and George and it was nice to see a family grow. After the news of Russell choosing to leave I expected Sinead might follow. I just hope it is still a happy ending for Nina and George.

Of course I am here to sing praises to the lovely, wonderful, beautiful Sinead Keenan. You absolute gorgeous, fantastic, warm, friendly, loveable lady who I adore. I forgot talented. Extremely talented... coz lets face facts: Nina was not overly likeable which is the complete opposite of Sinead so you, Sinead, must be a spectacularly good actress.

Thank you Sinead for all your hard work, sharing your brilliance, and just being plain adorable and so friendly with the fans. You are just fab. I cannot wait for you to make it on to the local stage here at 3Theatres-upon-Avon and I am very happy that you are joining the Histories family soon. Congratulations. Yippee! So excited! Squeee! So I apologise for not praising you sooner, but I always am in my heart.

It's not goodbye, coz there's always twitter and all your future acting jobs, but this is the formal thank you for Nina and this little bit of your life shared with these nutters on here. I can't wait to see what comes next. WOOHOOOOO!!!!

*bows most humbly and smiles most heartily* Thank you Sinead.

And as for you lovely blog nutters: Goodbye. Stay mad, be nice and enjoy what comes next.

Bit late but couldnt miss adding my farewell to this thread- thank you Sinead - Nina was a great character and you brought her to such life - see all the conflicting views - no-one was indifferent to Nina. And I have this cant-get-rid-of image from Series 2 - you leaving George - in the doorway of the pink house telling Mitchell you loved George but .... so sad, human - BH at its best. Best of all luck - we will miss you lots x

  • Comment number 55.

Another late one from me. Sinead, best of luck to you in the future. You've been a pleasure to watch as the feisty Nina. Sad to see you go, we'll miss you.

    Dear Sinead,
It's been a pleasure and a privilege watching you on Being Human over the past few years. You really sparkled in the show; bringing pathos and a great deal of warmth and humour to the role. So sorry we won't see you in Series 4; you'll be much missed. Good luck with all your future ventures (both personal and professional) and I look forward to watching your future work. All the best, from a fellow Inch High xxx

I am having trouble watching the 'Tom Prequel" It just clocks,,anyone else?

Where can I watch series 3? I only saw the first 3 or 4 episodes and I'd like to catch up before the next one starts.
