Restoration - the final vote begins

The time has come for the nation to choose

Speaking live on 主播大秀 Breakfast News this morning (Thursday 11 September), Griff Rhys Jones announced that Wiltons Music Hall in East London has become the tenth finalist in 主播大秀 TWO's hit series Restoration and that lines are now open for the final national vote.

The public now has until Sunday night to make their mark on history and decide which of these buildings should be given a new lease of life with funds raised during Restoration's five-week run.

These funds, which will include 拢3 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will then be used to secure the winning building's future.

Griff said today: "Restoration has been a huge success. It's put conservation concerns on the agenda and I hope entertained a lot of people on the way.

"Lines for the ten finalists are now open and viewers can start voting on which building they would most like to see restored."

Carole Souter, Director of the Heritage Lottery Fund, added: "The way these ten fantastic buildings have caught the public's imagination demonstrates just how passionate people really are about their heritage.

"The Heritage Lottery Fund has set aside 拢3 million for The Restoration Fund to go towards restoring the winning building. Now it's up to the public to decide where their money should go."

Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Tower of London, the final will be broadcast live on 主播大秀 TWO at 9..00pm, Sunday 14 September.

The votes cast in previous shows have not been carried forward so each building has started with 0 votes in the run up to the final.

This is to help ensure the competition is as fair as possible to each of the ten finalists.

A minimum of 17.9p of every 30p call goes directly to The Restoration Fund (a registered charity).

Contributions can also be made to The Restoration Fund via the donation line - 0871 200 5050.

Throughout the series, Restoration has drawn on the memories and knowledge of local residents, owners and conservation groups who love and value these buildings and are fighting to preserve them for future generations.

Sunday's final will see many of these people gathered together at The Tower of London, eagerly awaiting the outcome of the national vote.

They will be joined by Kate Humble who will be offering them support and encouraging viewers to vote and donate.

A host of celebrities will be adding their support and, for one last time, calling on viewers to vote for their favourite building.

The final will also see Griff and historic buildings experts Marianne Suhr and Ptolemy Dean revisit each of the ten buildings, reminding viewers of their individual charm and history and their unique architectural value.

Liz Forgan, Chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund, along with representatives from all of Britain's heritage bodies will also be joining Griff live at the Tower to discuss what the future holds for the thousands of historic buildings at risk across the UK today.

Voting will continue throughout the evening and the announcement of the winning building is expected to take place at 10.17pm - live on 主播大秀 TWO.

Restoration is produced by Endemol UK Productions for 主播大秀 Scotland and is broadcast on 主播大秀 TWO.
