What is blog blog

Blog Blog is the occasional postings of the guys running the website. We're based in Glasgow and have been busy over the past few weeks making trips to all the islands involved.

The purpose of Blog Blog is to keep you posted on any issues or questions relating to the project as a whole. If you've got a query about how things work or what's going on, post a comment here and we'll respond.

Remember of course you can email Island Bloging at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk if you want an individual response or to be sent details on how to join up.

Clarification of moderation and bad language

Just received an e-mail from one of the first island bloggers, , directing us to an regarding 主播大秀 moderation of these blogs and posts being deleted for bad language.

Here's some clarification.

No posts have been rejected for content or language. (Impeccable behaviour so far:-)

One of mentions the fact that he was (wrongly) accused by the system of using bad language. This was simply our profanity filter wrongly identifying acceptable words as swear words. Our developer has now resolved this issue.

As regards moderation, all posts are checked to make sure they don't contravene 主播大秀 policy. Posts which are libellous or inflammatory for example, will not be published.

If your post is not published, you will be advised by e-mail as to the reasons. Your post will never just "disappear", if it hasn't appeared on the site within a few hours it usually just means that it is waiting for a member of staff here to quickly check there are no policy issues.

A full set of policy rules are available on request. Please email us at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk if you would like a copy.

I'll also post some of the house rules on this blog later on today.

Some house rules

As promised, here are some extracts from the Island Blogging house rules relating to the previous blog entry.

About your blogs. Please keep you contributions civil, tasteful and relevant. We're committed to providing an atmosphere in which constructive and mature dialogue takes place.

No flaming. Unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable comments are not acceptable.

No swearing. If you do swear, it will appear as as***s. If you are quoting it may be acceptable.

No spamming or flooding. Don't post the same comment to more than one conversation or mare than once.

No advertising. We can only accept posts that are your own opinion. We will remove posts where we suspect a vested interest.

Hope that clears things up!

Sameness

Can anyone fathom why everyone has chosen the same design?

Lonely Colonsay?

Hi Bloggers,
welcome to our two newest blogs - from Colonsay and Mull, and I thought I should just point out to you all that from the home page of Where I Live - Scotland comes a new competition, "I Love" which, by a happy coincidence, this month offers a weekend for two on the Island of Colonsay!

The competition runs till the 11th January next year. Previous places have been Dunoon and Wester Ross.

A Christmas Message

Merry Christmas to all the island bloggers out there.

Our moderation may be a bit patchy over the Christmas period, but please stick with us, it'll only really be Christmas and New Years Day when nothing will stir (not even a mouse).

Hope everyone has a good holiday.

best wishes
Mike & Richard

Adding a Link

To add a link to to your blog, copy the address that you want to link to of the site, (the http://www bit) then think where in your text you want to add it, then click on 'Link' in your Tools options on the right-hand side of the Main entry text box and, hey presto, up will jump a box to which you should add your links address details.

That's it. Simple.
